@@elijahfloyd6251 yep! he landed on 1 guy and then went after the other. he got injured with a lacerated liver from the fall, but when he went to vet for surgery it had healed itself! he’s now retired and lives happily at home with his handler ( same one in video ) :)

The first dog is meant to be trained for bomb sniffing and to take its time. Of course it's not going to do well in a course meant for seeing how fast a dog can go through it.

To be fair Mattis is also a bomb detection dog. One of the reasons why hes one of there most decorated officers including humans, he is a rare all rounder. Bomb detection, narcotics, human remains, criminal detection and apprehension and search and rescue very very impressive, most dogs would not look to good going up against him..

@@Megan_Fiorilla Wow, when you list all of the work Mattis does you have to be impressed. England has different Police dogs for sniffing drugs and bomb material, then their Belgian's track and catch. I worked with Beagles as they were training in bomb detection. Their size is ideal for clearing lots and lots of packages.

@@annsowers4591 Normally they are seperate but if they are very intelligent they can be trained in multiple feild. Mattises owner Mark talked about this in his insta the other day about a fellow K9 officer Radier and her handler that work with them and she was originally only a detection K9 but her handler worked hard to make her a tracker also, she's just not an apprehensive K9. She is a lab cross though and is so cute!! That's so cool though! I would love to work with K9s I'm in Ireland though don't even know if our garda or Air port has K9s never seen them use one before sadly 😭

OMG! Mattis is an awesome dog! Wow! I'm crying and got the chills just watching him! A purple heart...I'm speechless. I have a 7 year old German Shepherd named Loki. I am amazed every day how intelligent and wonderful he is. Yet he's still my big baby and always will be. I don't think people can understand how beautiful these dogs are.

I love watching the canines with their human partners/handlers. Mattis was especially well trained :-) Our first four legged officer is trained for bombs so he is going to take his time. But like other commenters I agree he does need some extra focus on the verbal commands.

The Malinois needs more work, probably shouldn’t even be working for a department if it won’t go outside in the rain. Mattis is a beast, a true warrior dog. Needs more work on the verbal release but at that moment those dogs are jacked!
