@Zack Browning It was a very intense time. 9/11 was my very first day of boot camp ironically. I did my official swearing in in late August of 2001. From the gate we were trained for combat because of the situation at hand. We weren’t trained to operate enraged, that’s when mistakes happen. We were trained to operate with precision as failure wasn’t an option. The sense of brotherhood kicks in. We all have different jobs and have to come together as one unit.

Dupp you know nothing of that man and what he’s been through he’s going to die very likely because of the things he was subjected to fighting as a soldier in are marine core. As much as I don’t want to see him do that to himself what ever it takes to make his last days on this earth what he wants them to be he’s earned it and then some in my book. No matter how he copes I promise you he a braver man than most of us because he has the courage to come home and live what life he had left . no matter how he lived it drugs don’t make people bad everyone makes a choice on how to live there life. Just because People have an addiction doesn’t mean they are thieves. In the end he will not be judged by man.

I agree too. And yet there are going to be people saying some percentage of officers are bad... If this nice caring man writes you a ticket, or arrests you for a crime, you are likely to think he is some power mad jerk. It's human nature. I'm not saying all officers or all of any group of people are 100% good, but then my perceptions of people aren't 100% accurate either.

Heroin addict, 3 years sober. This video brought tears to my eyes. For an officer to take the time with someone who has an addiction is heartwarming. I'm a 68 year old Vietnam veteran who like a multitude of others was discharged with an unmanageable habit. It has taken close to 50 years for me to finally smile again. This video should be shown at all police academies. Thumbs up for the men in blue.

My offspring at one point was into something and declared to me he would not continue college that I was paying for...at some point both his father and I did not know where he had lived..... By but the grace of his own innate light and power (however strong it was), he quit whatever he was on, he found work, and he was also willing to go to a six-week education program where he learned truck driving and he respected his instructor and his other classmates. He is a doting father now and works hard to support his family. I am beyond thankful!

I think we see so much evil and so little good, that when someone does something that used to be considered basic human decency, kindness, empathy, and/or respect, iis so seldom seen, people who show these things are looked at as heros/heroines. yeah i feel like a lotta cops lack empathy. subjects are treated like laundry. but i guess they deal with a lot of liars, aggression, and derelict behaviour, so it's hard to maintain a shining ray of optimism dealing with that everyday. in fact, who knows if that guy was actually a vet? he was just wearing a hat. addicts aren't exactly models of truthfulness.

A little over 3 months for me. Stay strong my man! I honestly thought I was a lost cause for years, overwhelming hopelessness. Alot of people view relapse as giving up or a complete failure, it's a speedbump on our way to recovery. Somewhere along these dark times I found myself with a new mindset, motivation and determination. Now I don't see any reason to why I shouldn't be able to find the best version of me that I ever was, future is bright. Be proud of yourself.

I am an officer and i hate to watch this. All my partners and I became LEO's for a reason. Either money, care for our community, leadership, or just plain "they are hiring." I cried cause i am in a city alone, no family, and the only friends i know are officers, and even they are busy. I would love to meet this partner of mines in Tulsa.

It did hit hard. Cops see the worst of the worst with very little time to allow themselves to deal with their own emotions. So they stuff them and go on to 'the next one.' But, we expect them to always be courteous and nice every time. Tough job, and not all can do it.

If you think that there aren’t officers who actually talk to people and encourage them to do better things with their life, I can almost certainly say you’re wrong. There are different officers that do kind acts everyday... unrelated to even their job duties. Of course there’s corrupt cops and bad ones but not all of them are

@Liam I believe most people have the ability to be good, however whether they practice showing it more often than not is to be debated. Anger is a strong emotion that can be difficult for some to control, and I see most people choosing the road most traveled rather than taking the "high road" or road less traveled.
