AE86 Project | The Rolling Rolla - AE86 Trueno Coupe Project Update and First Start!

In todays ae86 project video, we get the toyota corolla back on the ground! Not only do we get it back on the ground, but we get the engine is the ae86 trueno coupe started. Even though this is not the final engine that will be run in the ae86 project, this still marks a very important point in the ae86 build project. At this point in time I now know the ae86 has all the wires and sensors necessary to support a carburetor... wink, wink, hint, hint...
I quickly show how to install car suspension, and how to start a carbureted engine without putting gas in the cars tank. Stay tuned for more ae86 build content. I am super excited for the next video and I hope you all are too!

Hahaha I honestly couldn't believe it turned over in the first place! I guess I plugged everything back right Haha. After 3 years, its easy to forget exactly where everything went lol. The engine staring up on the first try was just icing on the cake 👍 As nice as it was to get it started, that engine is about to come out. I will be motor swapping here very soon and I can't wait to get started on it! I just have to source a couple more parts. Thanks for subbing and supporting the channel, much more content to come!

TheBSRecord i don’t think i can go widebody on this KP. Most I would do is Wider metal fenders on the rear. Would love to pick up another starlet and do an N2 kit on that.

N2 kits on starlets look soooooooo good! Part of me really wanted to go semi wide body with some fender flares on the ae86, but I couldn't bring myself to do it lol.

Excellent work as always. Nice to see that 4-AC started up as easily as it did. The one I had was straight pain in the ass even after upgrading to a weber carb.

To be honest, I couldn't believe it fired right up like it did. I was expecting a much bigger headache...and the possibility of ta nice fire ball shooting out of the carb when I cranked it over lol. It was definitely a little sketchy filling the carb up with gas and attempting to start it haha. Thanks for tuning in and supporting the channel!

I just love that sound. Whether it's 4ac or 4ag it's a distinct engine sound. Oh by the way did you ever check the straps on the tank?

I had forgotten what it sounded like and when it started up I was like, "dang, that actually sounds good!". I did check the straps and I am pretty sure they are installed right. If I swapped them around one strap doesnt reach the mounting hole. It sits good, just a super tight fit. Thanks for always tuning in!

And its a shame no one has done a proper build on youtube on the 4A-C (atleast that i know of) because its basically the same engine as i have in my carina :D

This is actually a really good question lol. I am still a little unsure myself, but have a plan. The next video or two I will go over what I have in store for the 4age. I will say this though, I do plan on running the 16v in the car for now. Sorry for the vague answer but your question will he answered soon lol. Thanks for watching!

@@rola_9012 definitely go watch 84hatchi on KZbin. His 4ac is a masterpiece and is definitly one of a kind. He knows his stuff when it comes to the 4ac engine and Toyotas in general. I learned a lot about the basics of my 4ac from him and his vids. Hope this helps!

Yeah the "Takumi Tax" is a real thing when it comes to these cars. Just trying to find a RWD alternator bracket is expensive! But dont let that discourage you. Its gonna be tough, but I am sure you can find one that is reasonably priced, keep looking! My car is a 1985. Thanks for watching!

@@TheBSRecord oh okok Well I m working on a 240 volvo wagon with the 7mgte engine .If you are planning to keep the 4a I can ask my brother to see if he has a bracket for the alternator .Is it the one in the block?

@@dzrotary very cool build! Yeah it's the one that is on the rwd 4age motors. The bracket attaches to the block of the engine and has an "adjustment slide" piece to tension the alternator when installed. Let me know, I'm always on the lookout for parts. Thank man!

Technically speaking the VIN starts with "ae86". This particular car is the SR5 model that came with the sohc 4AC engine. This car is being converted to GTS spec, with the dohc 4age 16v engine. GTS spec models of this car had a VIN starting in "ae88". Thanks for watching!
