Great video! I'm a longtime airsoft n00b (been doing it nearly 25 years but not often enough to remember much since last time I did it) and got a new Rif for Christmas which has got me jonesing for events. Years ago i tricked out a TM P90 which I loved to bits but forgotten *everything* I did too it, so this video with what to prioritise hit the spot just right.

Motors, in general, aren't really an upgrade but rather changing the role of your AEG. I know I'm splitting hairs here, but I think it's important to understand. High-speed motors can be fun, but there are other modifications required to the piston, cylinder, and nozzle, or you can eat through o rings/pistons. I dont know much about high-speed builds, but I know they are rough on those three components. High-torque motors are only necessary if your current motor has trouble with your current spring or if you intend to upgrade to a spring with more resistance. You've also got to be careful not to overdue it, or your gun may give the bbs too much energy to play in games or fields. What I'm trying to get at here is motor upgrades are rarely necessary and almost never just a motor replacement. The last thing I'll add about motors is branding. Name brand doesn't always mean better. I've opened probably 100 of these motors, and almost always, the components are identical. Rotor, comutator, case, and stator magnets. That said, some companies use neodymium magnets in place of ferrite magnets. I've heard it so many times. Someone buys a motor upgrade and does not notice any difference. One of the best upgrades for your gun and fairly cheap is to buy a wide range of bb weights and fire them at different ranges. Pick the best one that suits your gun and play style. Bb weight is massive.

I’m of the opinion that upgrades should be based on what you’re trying to achieve, more reliable? Upgrade/shim gearbox etc. higher rate of fire? Battery, gearbox. Accuracy? Hop, barrel etc, more power? Then do the piston, spring etc… there is no one right answer… just want to go out and have fun? Then leave it alone and go have fun!

I just bought a sr-16 knights MFG CO. Licensed stoner rifle I have a 11.1 lipo battery for it and when I’m on semi auto and I try and fire it super fast it seems to not wanna run as fast as I’d like should I just upgrade the motor? And what does the little screw on the motor do?

i have played for around 2 years and i antes to upgrade and get more into it so i bought a gun off of someone on hop up and the gun runs really gun just the bbs kinda drop off and not the best range. I know it’s not the hop up because i would wind it both ways to try to find a middle ground and it would just still drop off after like 20 feet. So i was wondering what upgrades i could do to get some effective range. p.s. should i get new gears/hop-up/barrel.

I have a arp9 and want it to have higher fps and more rps. Would getting a strong spring and a big high torque motor help? Our field does not have fps limit and I want the arp9 to have more fps.

High torque is for trigger response u want a high speed motor for faster auto. For fps yeah a better spring but it will put more stress on the gun so upgrade accordingly. Hope that helped

hi i have m4 troy '9' e&c full metal. what i can i do for upgrade. his have battary 8,4 volt.I test it in a chronograph and his saw my with zero hop-up 0,96 joule and 290-300fps with 0,25bbs. And with hop up 1.06-1.17 joule and 320-350fps and 12,7rpm.

Hey there I have a question! My krytac 30k motor died a few adays ago and I'm looking at getting a new motor for it. I kinda wanted to stick with a 30k but my local stores are all outta stock for that one would the 35k make much of a difference?

You could substitute it with the 35k. The difference is tiny. If your gun was struggling before even with a functioning motor then that might be telling of another problem.

i bought a ASL Valken Kilo45 from evike and it is pretty shit for accuracy and range. All i did was ask some experienced players about it and they told me to just change my hop up and maybe my inner barrel. my inner barrel was plastic and my hopup nub (for the backspin) wasnt even protruding enough to give spin. So i got a 6.3 stainless steel barrel and a better hopup + bucking and it shoots incredibly well; as if its a different gun. and i got my parts from evike.

It depends on the gun. As long as you have a metal gearbox, *most* airsoft rifles are capable of using an 11.1v LiPo. However, using a higher voltage battery will increase wear and tear on the gun if it does not have a mosfet. What model of rifle do you have?

Yes to some degree but not without a battery to get the most out of it. Outside of that, faster ratio gears, electrical wiring and switch upgrades, MOSFET.

What he is saying makes no sense. More rounds - more wear. Whether you shoot auto or semi, it doesn't really matter. Also, it not so much about battery technology but about the voltage. 7.4V LiPo will put less strain on your motor than 9.6V NiMh.

Return it. Just kidding. Unless you really want a weird sleeper gun I don’t think I would upgrade just get stuff that you would use for your next gun e.x. Mid cap magazines, better battery. But overall the build quality for lancer is not very good just use it until you can afford something else. :)

It's great of out the box! If it was my scorpion, I wouldn't upgrade anything but it's really up to you and how much you want to spend to get slightly better performance out of an already great gun.

I am using my M16a2 just for target shooting and experiments in the garden. Given that I won't ever be taking part in war games (I'm physically disabled anyway so I can't if I wanted to) how much could I actually extend my FPS? Is it even worth doing that? I'm not wanting to go silly but a modest increase in fps and general power when the BB gets to the target would be nice if it's possible at all..... Can anyone comment on that please?

Best way to increase fps is to get a higher quality inner barrel, better battery, better bucking and better hop up. Anything more and you have to take the gearbox apart and get new motors which can be complicated for beginners

you can go HPA and get upwards of 500 fps. The Kythera is a fully mechanical HPA system (semi auto only), and you can really easily pair it with the Universal CO2 Stock to use 12g CO2 cartridges and not need an external hose or tank.

Heavier BBs, but too heavy can also damage your AEG. More mass, same drag coefficient as a 0.20, but will go further, especially outdoors. Usually 0.28, 0.30, or 0.32 are the sweet spot. 0.28 is cheap enough and heavy enough to use all the time.

FFS DO NOT change the battery for a higher voltage unless your moter is rated the same as the battery....An 11v battery WILL BURN A 7.4v MOTOR it will either do it immediately or over a short period of time, the motor windings are specivic to the voltage and amp output.

A mosfet is not required to run an 11.1v battery with most modern airsoft guns. (As long as the gearbox is decent quality.) They are however good for mitigating electrical issues with any voltage of battery.
