Hi when i replay the file in VLC and select subtitles....its working , but the size, colour and position of the text has shifted....honestly it could have been more user friendly. Ofcourse the working part in Aegisub is very user friendly....but playback is a hedache...can someone help me to clear this

For context, i want to post my aegisubs made subs to youtube, and they have custom subtitles with colors, italics, etc (no animation tho). but everytime i upload my files to youtube, the subs don't keep the different fonts i used and other things.

@@MakianTheWorld Good question. I don't think KZbin supports the same options as Aegisub. An option would be to hard code the subs permanently on the video. When this is done, it cannot be disabled when viewing the video... I have tutorials in this playlist on how to do it using Handbrake and VLC.

@@TJFREE I was interested on uploading customized subtitles when i saw a certain video. If you turn on the English subtitles it has a very different font from youtube's normal fonts. it also has colors and other things but i have no idea how this person managed to upload them to a youtube video. @Makian I see what you mean. I'm not familiar enough with what KZbin supports for subtitles, but my guess is that KZbin is wanting the file to be formatted a certain way, and is just ignoring everything else.

SRT files do support several HTML tags which allow styling. Such as Hello . Why does Aegisub clear them up completely when exporting?

Handbrake is not working... i tried to put my subs in turkish but it didnt worked maybe it was because it's a diffrent alphabet. Then i tried with eng alphabet, the problem with it is that the first line of subs which is 0.00 to 0.05 is not showing with handbrake. I'm so done..

you have to hit "Export Subtitles", hit "Export" and then choose the name and all the shabang

Thank you TJ FREE, Excellent video! I ran into a problem with the three sliders to the right of the Audio Panel. On my version of Aegisub, they look like three circles and I moved them and now I can't get the audio panel to look like the original. Plus, the slider on the far right is the "Audio Volume" control and that is also out of whack now! Is there any way I can get those three controls back to Default? I haven't found that anywhere on the menu. Thank you!

I am using both VLC and Handbrake to export but either of them show the positioning of the ASS file on the exported product. Do you know how to fix this?

You know the default setting where there is a case where two lines overlap their timestamp, and the latter line will pop up above the earlier line (so the later will be on top of the earlier line)? i want to change that. I want that if the time stamp overlap, the earlier line would move up and the latter will pop up below those lines. So far i just somehow make the subtitle without the same time stamp, but it's gonna be hard when there're overlapping dialogies in the video. Any idea how to fix those problem? Sorry if you've ever post about it, i haven't watch all your videos (yet, i'm planning to). Anyway, thank you! A great video!

you need to save .ass file then when you want to reopen it you, first, open aegisub and then just drop the .ass file in

Hi! Losing my mind a bit. When I upload my video in AEGISUB it's lying on it's side (ie it's a portrait where the mobile camera is filming in an upright position but the program wants it to lie down), leaving the subtitles on the flip end - if you see what I mean. When I choose to play the video merged with the subs, dependng on videoplayer - either the film is lying down but the subs perfectly horizontal - or the other way around. The latter happended when I tried hardcoding the subs with VLC. I have to be done with this to a huge presentation tomorrow. Yikes. Help?

To anyone with this: Have you tried drawing the subs as you want oriented in the image, then... let the video player choose how it wants to orient it, but the subs will be oriented with the image, or edit the video one step more to make it vertical forever, maybe with side padding.

Yes, that's because .srt is a more basic format and does not support advanced styling.
