AEM5 vs. OCM5

Nice work. Very similar performance. Very similar look. Same fit. Some say they can hear a difference, I could not. Our thoughts: If you want clone authentic, get the Allen Suppressor. If you want lighter weight, get the Otter Creek Suppressor. AEM5 is stainless, so might take a drop or a bump better. OCM5 is Titanium, which gives it the weight advantage, but not as rugged. Since neither are likely to be used in full auto mode, either is well suited to a sniper rifle.

Any science to back up Titanium not holding up as well as stainless during a drop?

Titanium is significantly harder than stainless

@@supfoo3638but it’s not though…titanium is not harder than stainless and definitely not more durable but titanium DOES offer better weight to strength ratio than stainless does but titanium is not more durable common misconception there’s a reason knife blades or barrels are not made from titanium

The duel wield test is a game changer! I dragged my feet, so I missed out on the AE. So I went OCM. I’m very happy with it.

I'm supper happy with the OCM5. I'd likely be just as happy with the AEM5 too, they both sound great.

AEM5 has a little deeper tone to it. Can’t really complain about either though. Nice 👍🏻

Definitely a tone difference but little at best. Very similar performance and I plan to purchase an AEM-5.

Thanks for the video man, I mostly was interested to see the ejection pattern difference as a guess to any differences in back pressure. Looks like they function pretty close. Most camera microphones aren't going to be able to pick up noticeable differences because of video compression and microphone peaking limitations. Even if they did, unless you're hearing a gunshot at gunshot volumes through you're headphones, its not gonna matter.

Really the only difference we could hear was the tone. The Otter Creek can was a bit higher pitched than the AE can. Both sound great and both keep the Mk12's smooth shooting rifles.

The OCM5 definitely has a higher tone, but we only have access to our ears to compare, thus purely subjective. Funny how a much more popular channel has shot both and has access to accurate sound testing equipment, but never did a measurement comparison.

Yes, I currently have one at the dealer. I picked up a 5/8x24 .30cal brake directly from Ron Allen and I have a new barrel off a D.Wilson to be converted to install in my MWS. If I run any rounds through it at the dealer, I'll be sure to grab some video.

You have much gas blow back with either of these? Or do you use anything to get around it.

Yeah, there's a bit. PRI gas buster charging handle and a rifle length gas system help.

@@joesrcool I love the pri charging handle it’s great on any ar and I’m thinking about running an adjustable bcg on the mk12.. I also have a Lantac bcg which may work good enough if there isnt too much gas blow back.

To be honest, I haven't noticed either to be too gassy, but then again I hadn't really paid attention. I would say they're both pretty low gas compared to let's say the Rex MG7, AAC M4-2000 or Dead Air Sandman S. All of those I've noticed a considerable amount more gas blow back in the face.
