I haven't watched your channel before. I'm pleased you immediately started explaining what you saw to work on with the job and then what equipment you were going to work with. You had a before and after photo at the start and it was a startle to realize that was such an extreme change that that was the result. Design ideas can be lost over time with deterioration. That was quite a renovation. Do I see roofs and walls that could do with some further work?

I’m not a powerwashing professional. So I freely admit that I don’t watch jet washing videos to learn the details of a job or equipment. Actually, I watch these types of videos because I find them relaxing and oddly satisfying. But this channel is not relaxing or oddly satisfying because there is so much talking, so much info about equipment, etc. and I have to do so much fast forwarding to get to the cleaning bits. So clearly I’m not the target audience for this channel so I’ll be on my way. Cheers

Kennith. Yes, my drive is blocked paved and sloping, I have had it re-sanded after cleaning but never again. The first time it rained the sand washed out down the drive and all over the pavement and road. I took me days sweeping it and hosing it and the neighbours weren’t very happy either because they had to hose it as well from outside their houses. What a nightmare!

I use 120 oC when cleaning. This massively reduces the need for that extremely strong SH mix. I would then apply a soft wash solution with the SH at around 2 to 4 % and leave it down to do its job over the next hour or even 2. but I dont need to wash down again, reducing the loss of sand further. Just make sure you wash any of the mix off the house or any wood or grass etc. Then I would typically return on another day to sand in. But basically the results are the same. The hot water really speeds up the cleaning process and gets nearly all the black spots out with out the need for chems. It also means that i can dial the pressure down for delicate substrates. The next thing i would spend my money on is a hot system from Rutland pumps. Good work!!!

If the client has no pets or young kids around you don’t really need to fully rinse. With large gapped block paving I usually recommend a jointing compound, brush it in wet and it sets solid so no weeds. Yes a bit more expensive but that’s the customers call. Then you only have to soft wash the drive in future. Good video again Ashley.

Do you ever find the water supply from the hose can't keep up with the pressure washer? I like the wheely bin idea.
@aemackintosh
@aemackintosh 3 жыл бұрын
Yes that can happen, but if you allow the bin to fill before you start working the level will just gradually decrease. If it gets completely empty you can just take a break or do some sweeping while it fills up again.😉👍🏼

What size wheelie bin do you use? I've been using a 90ltr bin but I find it can empty to quick if the tap pressure is on the lower side
@aemackintosh
@aemackintosh 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that can happen, and you have to take a little break or do some sweeping while it fills up again. A regular size bin is 240 litres, I started out with one of those. But I can’t fit it in my current van so I’m using a half size bin which is 120litres.😃👍🏼

Yeah, guess it really, but I don’t do many with big cracks like this so I got a bit caught out. It does also make a difference how much sand you rinse away, as you said.😃👍🏼

Is it best to apply chemical before you power wash or after? Does it matter which one you apply first?
@aemackintosh
@aemackintosh 3 жыл бұрын
I would say it depends on how dirty it is and what surface you are treating. Sometimes I just apply after cleaning, other times I will apply before and after cleaning.😃👍🏼

For this type of cleaning flow rate is almost more important than pressure. 200 bar 18 lpm is the minimum you want. Go to Rutland pumps and get your self something for the job.

I have been thinking about using a wheelie bin, I am not doing much pressure washing at the moment so don't want to spend much. At the moment I use a watering can or a sprayer to put the hypo down but was thinking of mixing it in the bin and spraying on with the pressure cleaner with the nozzle open giving a wide low pressure spray. Ant thoughts on that Ashley.
