For those interested, the Tech Sling 2 can hold my 14.4 inch Surface Laptop Studio. Travel Sling 2 is the size of a travel briefcase; this made the smaller Tech Sling 2 a better fit for my needs.

This is exactly what I came here to find out. I have a Thinkpad T14S and the aspect ratio of the screen being 16:10 instead of the usual 16:9 makes the laptop a bit more square. The distance from the front to the back is a little longer than typical 14 inch laptops. My Thinkpad is just under (by a mm or 2) 9"x12.5" and just under 7/8 inch thick. Do you think the Tech Sling 2 would fit that without being too tight/pressed against the edges? My current bag (North Face sling) fits it but it's a tight squeeze and that makes me pretty nervous. Really hoping to keep this bag as small as possible and the Travel sling looks like quite the jump in size for casually carrying to a coffee shop/brewery within a 5-10min walk from my home.

This is an incredibly helpful comparison, and thank you for going subject-by-subject with all 3 bags. Many of these reviews will review one bag at a time, end to end-versus what you did, which is measuring the pros/cons of each quality (organization, laptop carry size, etc) against all 3 at once. Also viewing them side by side is very helpful

Great comparison! Been looking at the Travel Sling 2 for the ability to take the laptop and iPad out of my Aer Travel Pack 3, and redistribute the weight to my front, BUT (and it's a big but)... it's a unidirectional wear strap and it's not removable! The pack is not designed to be worn on the front and that's the primary reason I want the sling bag. The Alpaka Bravo Sling Max v2 has overcome this issue, by making it a removable and reversible strap, so it can be worn front, back, left or right. Additionally, the Aer Travel Sling is enormous! I might as well put a small backpack on backwards and then put my Aer TP3 on to hold it in place! The ABSM v2 also has a thinner form factor. I could overcome the Aer size issue if they would make a reversible/removable strap, because I do love the accessory straps on the bottom for a jacket/coat/tripod. Just my thoughts...

Aer Day Sling Max - for someone who carries iPad Pro 11”, iPad Air, or anything smaller Aer Tech Sling - for some who carries a Macbook 14”, Macbook 13”, iPad Pro 12”, or anything smaller Aer Travel Sling - for someone who carries a Macbook 16” or anything smaller I think this is the simplest way to differentiate the three.

👏💥 I have the Travel Sling 2 and one of things I dislike about it is that the shoulder strap tends to unloosen so I'd have to readjust it every time I put it on.

Thank you. I'd love to have seen you wearing them all to see how they fit/feel. Obviously, that's a personal thing, but I care about the straps and how they are adjusted, where the buckle is, if it is possible to wear a sling with a rucksack too (and not have the buckle dig in).

I have the Travel Pack 3 and after a recent trip, I am torn on what sling might be my best companion bag to go with it. I borrowed something similar to the Day Sling Max 3 and really liked that for daily use in Europe. I think something smaller could also work too. For a personal item bag and for easy access to things on the plane, I pulled out a small duffel that folds flat, but could fit my 14" MacBook, my preferred portable computing device. I could see going up to the Travel Sling 2 as an upgrade... but I think that might be overkill when paired with my Travel Pack 3 when walking through airports and to the hotel. I generally carried the duffel in my hand like a briefcase by the way. What do you think? Would a Travel Pack backpack and a Travel Sling be too much at once? Or should I stay creative with a fold-flat duffel/pack that I can throw the Day Sling Max into for the airport and on the plane, along with my MacBook, water bottle, etc?

In my mind it’s all about comfort. The travel sling 2 isn’t comfortable - it’s a great commuter bag - but I don’t actually like it as a travel sling. If you absolutely need the laptop to fit in your personal bag (you can fit that in the travel pack and just take it out for the plane) then I’d say a lightweight sling like the Cotopaxi chasqui would be my pick or the 9L TomToc sling. But I do prefer a smaller city sling like the day sling max 3 honestly for travel. The most important thing though is that you proctorize comfort. What do you enjoy wearing and have fun with.

Go look at the number of views on the average "insert boring standard NSA backdoor access telemetry Windows 11 laptop here" and then compare it to the Singular most used second option "insert any apple product here". My question is specifically regarding the tech bag known for being the smallest tech bag and whether or not it's capable of fitting the new largest "small light weight" laptop, because if it could that would there is clear proof the algorithm favors content related to Apple products over the laptops used by the Tech Lead DevOps playing with Raspberry Pi's in his garage surrounded by a bunch of halfway built gaming rigs.
