Very nice clean and invisible setup! Would have loved to hear it running, is it really quiet? I've been thinking about adding air pumps to some of my tanks
@JordanStirrat2 жыл бұрын
The air diffuser is very quiet but I would say that an air stone might work best if the goal is no surface film due to larger splashes and that is a bit louder. Its definitely something worth considering

What if your tank is low tech planted. Wouldn’t that deplete the little bit of naturally occurring C02 from the water?
@JordanStirrat10 ай бұрын
Although there may be extremely small amounts of co2 in your tap water, this is depleted very quickly after your water change, so it's misconception that a non co2 closed system has levels of beneficial co2
@JordanStirrat10 ай бұрын
That is unless, of course, there is lots of decaying material producing co2, but that can also produce harmful stuff like ammonia

Good explanation of the many benefits of nighttime aeration in the planted aquarium. Like you, I have an air stone on a timer that comes on when the lights go off and stops when the C02 comes on. Aeration is an under appreciated but important topic.

I seen huge increase on my plant growth specially on my Christmas moss and Monte Carlo by adding 2 air stones on each corner of my 75 gallon aquarium. And I running from 6pm-130am and off course when co2 are off.* Best decision I ever made lol

Its interesting that it had such a positive effect on your plants! Maybe not a direct impact but there might be indirect benefits it seems 😄 Nowadays I use a skimmer in my tanks which has a similar effect

Great info and tips. Question, ever think of using a splitter with check valves into one diffuser for air & co2? I was thinking about it myself but still getting my stuff together for my tank.
@JordanStirrat4 ай бұрын
@caoboi7741 the air diffuser wouldn't work for co2 as it produces larger bubbles

I have a question if someone can help answer.. running and Air stone through a pump is basically pump sucking outside air and throwing it in aquarium. Since air as only 21 percent oxygen.. rest is nitrogen and also Co2 ..will it help in plants growth? . If we don't want to spend on co2
@JordanStirrat2 ай бұрын
@JPpain Hi JP, the air pump would add some level of co2 if you aren't injecting CO2 directly into the tank. However, if that level is beneficial or not I'm not aware. Nether am I aware if the Nitrogen would be in a form avaliable to the plants. What I can suggest is checking the 2hraquarist website to see if they have any useful info on that subject 😊

I’ve read a few semi-scientific articles stating that using aeration during the photoperiod while we’re running CO2 doesn’t actually deplete CO2 as much as most people claim. What is your opinion brother?
@JordanStirrat2 күн бұрын
@bartosztomasz Oxygen levels and CO2 levels aren't really related to one another. More aeration would however gas off CO2 quicker and you would need to add more CO2 but sometimes this leads to more stable CO2 levels.

What is that piece of glass that keeps the water from jumping out from the airstone bubbles? I am asking since I have a rimless fish tank and want to keep the bubbles from spewing water all over the place
@JordanStirrat6 ай бұрын
I made it from acrylic 😊
@brushbrosКүн бұрын
By golly, I think you pegged it! The advantages of oxygenation are subtle but ultimately vital. You neglected to mention that air contains 78% nitrogen which also dissolves in the water and is vital for plant and other life form metabolism, which is most active in daytime.

Jordan- Wouldn’t it be possible to just put a Y junction in the Co2 line and pump air through the AquaRio neo mixer that that have now? Or does an air pump not push enough pressure to push through co2 stone? If that is the case- could run an O2 tank reg/bubble counter.
