The governor of Iowa sent helicopters to a small town to evacuate people from flooded homes Saturday, the result of weeks of rain.
Drone video posted by the local sheriff showed no streets, just roofs and the tops of trees above water.
Sirens blared in Rock Valley, Iowa, population 4,200, where people in hundreds of homes were told to get out as the Rock River could no longer take rain that has slammed the region. The city lacked running water because wells were unusable.

I think its time to take climate change seriously, if your politicians doesn't do that then you force them to change. If you are religious in any sort of way then remember we are only caretakers of this planet, and remember your children and Grandchildren have to inherit this world.

Go look at weather records most modern recorded heat records are in the 1930s, long before “climate change.” It floods in the Midwest in the summer, the northeast regularly reaches the 90s in the summer. Tornadoes are frequent in the summer. Nothing has changed, it’s just broadcasted more so you think it’s getting worse.

The rightfully elected President Al Gore helped put the film Inconvenient Truth together and we would have embarked on an intensive energy campaign building solar and wind technologies instead of the George W. Bush policies of more petroleum-based energy extraction and burning. We could be seeing far less global climate change if the US Supreme Ct. hadn't interfered with the yr. 2000 election results. Too late now.

Please broaden ABCs coverage of these floods to include wildlife, farm animals, chickens housed in massive barns and how they are impacted. There are other victims (& survivors) of climate change catastrophic weather events who are not human. Nonhuman victims are losing their homes and "real estate" too.

The governor of Iowa sent helicopters to a small town to evacuate people from flooded homes Saturday, the result of weeks of rain, while much of the United States longed for relief from yet another round of extraordinary heat. Sirens blared at 2 a.m. in Rock Valley, Iowa, population 4,200, where people in hundreds of homes were told to get out as the Rock River could no longer take rain that has slammed the region. The city lacked running water because wells were unusable. “We've got National Guard helicopters coming in where people are on their roofs - literally on their roofs or the second floor because their first floor is completely flooded,” Mayor Kevin Van Otterloo said. “We've had so much rain here,” he said. “We had four inches last night in an hour and a half time. Our ground just cannot take anymore.” Gov. Kim Reynolds declared a disaster for Sioux County, which includes Rock Valley. Drone video posted by the local sheriff showed no streets, just roofs and the tops of trees above water.

Maybe the problem is language. They have denied climate change so long they can’t accept it even when it’s obvious. Maybe we call it “long term weather change” - whatever it takes to get people and governments to respond differently to an obvious problem.

@@marlinweekley51 Marlin, I am sorry, I hate to burst your bubble, but there is no such thing as "climate change." Giving up 50% of your revenue and 100% of your rights will not change the climate. Al Gore said that the ice caps would melt by 2000. then 2010, then 2020 and guess what? Not only are the ice caps still there, but they are still the same size as they were in 2000, 2010 and 2020. A video I watched last night, actually filmed in late May, the truck driver complained of the "long cold spring", and she lives in New Jersey, close to Pennsylvania. On 9/11/2001 we all saw the horrible things that happened and the skies were closed for 4 days. What happened? The temperature, nationwide, went up. Right now, the climate crazies are screaming about CO2. If you will recall your high school biology class, plants actually like CO2 and thrive because of it. Did you know that the 1930's were the hottest decade of the last 100 years, followed closely by the 1920's? I could go on, but you get it.

How they solved this problem in my state they made you elevate your home 10' above the 100 year flood plain or you were not eligible for flood insurance. That put a stop to people rebuilding in a flood zone area.

@michellgreenwood7532 I'm a retired long-haul trucker I bought in flood relief birthday after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. That whole city is below sea level they have a Levy system around the whole city they have pumping stations 2 pump out water every time it rains. It's insane they spent so much money rebuilding that City because it will definitely happen again. The next day when I went in there was dead bodies and animals floating in the water everywhere.

That didn't happen. There is zero evidence it happened and heaps and mounds of evidence it did not. And if it did, your god is an absolute sociopath, knowing he could have done any kind of God magic he wanted to to send a message to people or to simply change their hearts. Instead, your story says he drowned a bunch of innocent babies for the sins of their parents and sentenced millions of animals to horrific drowning deaths when they had nothing to do with it. Then you'd have to belive in hyper evolution to believe every subspecies of every species on our earth today originated 4,000 years ago. This is why we won't fix this climate change stuff. People would rather believe in fairytales that don't make a lick of sense than work on real world solutions
