Excellent video! After a substantial amount of hours as pf and pm on a skyarrow, c172, m24 gyro, pa28, other than Hassy my best conclusion is to bring something handy such as a rollei 35s with nd or polarized filter or an F3 geared with an MD4, DA2 finder and possibly an 85mm Despite the marvellous resolution the h system can be the rather bulky aspect of size and weight can cause undesired results The less the better but I wouldn't say no if someone handed me an HK-7!

"Grumpy people of photography groups are so amusing. They think being ssmart on photography. Know the shop with the lowest film price. Think the best camera is a Leica M3. Have never made any photo with a Hasselblad 500 C/M, but can tell you all the cons of Zeiss lenses, the 1/500 sec, the small capacity of a 120 spool film, the square format, the weight, the price etc. Kodak and Linhof had published a lot of info on aerial photography. Kadak made a double perforated 70 mm Tri-X 320 ASA dilm; a pleasure to use in the Hasselblad 70 mm backs.

Nice comeback on KZbin! That trick with rubber lens hoods does actually work, if you use those hoods that are soft enough to fold back when you're not using them. The rubber is too soft to transform any vibrations into the camera. I know, I've tried it myself :-) Slightly unrelated: A friend of mine who works with camera and lens repair told me that the Pentax 6x7 with the 105mm F2.4 was popular among aerial surveillance photographers, because you can use infrared b&w film and still get fast enough shutter speeds even with an R72 filter. Would be cool to try that sometime!

Thanks for the tips on aerial photography. I compared your tips to the ones I have collected over the years. You covered all I had except the following: If you must shoot through glass, clean the glass. To reduce window reflections from your clothing, wear dark clothing. If flying in cold weather, dress in layers. In an open door flight, make sure you are securely belted in (duct tape the buckle closed for added safely). In an open door flight, make sure your equipment is secure and will not fly out of the open door. If needed, carry or take anti-motion sickness medication.

Great video! Funny you mentioned my IG comment, glad it worked. I suggest videos on techniques/inspiration in making great pictures out of apperently boring subjects (like experimental framing, using heavy grain to your advantage etc.). Also - to lessen the gear hog, what about a challenge using cheap (but not crappy) gear compared to hassys etc - to see the real world difference, not the technicalities. Also. Do you do darkroom prints?

Nice video, and beautiful pictures. I've done quite a lot of aerial photography with a medium format (645, a little smaller, using a 75 mm, equivalent to a 50 mm on 24x36 mm standard). It was exclusively on commercial flights though. It's a total random guess since you first need to have a window seat, ideally away from the wing. But when it works it's a delight, especially near take off and landing, unless you're after that wide and essentially blue atmosphere (lol) that troposphere has to offer.

I sold the 67 for the hasselblad! It’s a great performer but I struggled with the lack of modularity

Great video, Jonathan! Not very often we get to see such perspectives shot on film these days. It would make for a great mini project depending on how much you can possibly shoot for it. Any videos you put out would be great, especially if they're of interest to you. I think it's fair to say that people watch your videos mainly for your input, not necessarily the subject of the video. A video discussing motivation sounds like something you're interested in, and therefore would be interesting for viewers as well. Knowing that you stem from a more technical/gear side, I also wouldn't hate to see some videos on your favorite things to shoot and why they are so - mostly any inspiration behind your personal photography!
