@@zacharyoschmann8714 the first memory I have on the md-80 is Flying down to Orlando on AA with my family, And I had the last row next to the engine. The wing view was kinda cool and the roar of the engines were absolutely amazing. the last time I was on the MD-80 was a delta flight from Cancun to Milwaukee, it was about a year before the retirement for delta, Had I known they were gonna retire it, I would've tried to get another flight in on the old bird.
@zacharyoschmann87143 жыл бұрын
@@airwi3268 on the md-80 was probably when they pulled them off of Phx-msp, but I got to fly the md-90 in 2019, last row, msp-tus, but that was a nonstop flight and I was stuck (interstate closed) in Minnesota for a couple days at that point, so I’m happy it happened.

As an avgeek who loves to travel like you, it's so hard to look at this and not feel what the employees of these airlines are going through. For some, seeing these stored aircraft fly again would be their only saving grace to keeping his or her job. The problem is, we don't know when that will happen. Amazing footage, and hopefully you won't have to film another one like this.

I used to see those Md-80s flying out of the local airport. Even in August last year, they were still ferrying passengers in the South, they are a real jewel of the 20 Century Aviation, of course including the 747-400, British Airways is already preparing to retire the Queen of the Skies. I hope to see some more jumbo aircraft and T-tail aircraft. Our only hope know is the Boeing 717. I wish Aircraft Companies can be more creative and innovative with their designs. Now, it is all those dull 777s, A320s and A330s flying around. We will always remember you Md-80!

We misst the American Airlines Silverbird Livery. It is a pity that the American Md-80 was retired, it was an iconic plane with powerful takeoffs and landings. Now, you don't get to see much Mcdonell Douglas Aircraft in service anymore. Rest in peace Mcdonell Douglas! Goodbye Md-80.

Airlines and planes used to be diverse in those days. There were trijets and a lot of T-tail aircraft flooding domestic and international airports all across the country. But now you only have the same old aircraft. Last time, you had like TWA, US Airways, Northwest and Continental Airlines, now they are all aquired by the 3 Big Airlines, American, United and Delta. I bet everyone misses the old days.

@planespotterkarl27834 жыл бұрын
The ones that are staying there permanently will be scrapped and scavenger for parts (like the AA MD-80s). However, a good portion of these planes are there for long-term storage and will return when COVID blows over. I’m guessing most of the United planes will return, along with the Frontier, Southwest, some American, etc

Looks more like long term storage rather than boneyard. The desert is ideal because of how slow the process of aluminum oxidizing occurs.
