Aerial view of Sheffield where I live walk and camp in 4k

Having lived on the western side of Sheffield all my life and having filmed a lot of my KZbin videos in the area I thought it would be great if I could show my viewers the area I know so well.
In March on a nice clear day I flew my drone high up in the sky, I let it fly in a 500 foot diameter circle at 3mph filming the city and the hills west of the city.
Hopefully this video will reveal the city of Sheffield and the countryside west of the city in all its beauty

I've used to live in Sheffield some time ago, have since emigrated to Nottinghamshire. I've forgotten how beautiful the moors are. In 1987 I did my first ever wild camp at Stanage Edge, it brought back some wonderful memories. Thank you for the history lesson on Sheffield. Brilliant. I'm already looking forward to my free complementary beer at the best lock down project ( the pub ) ever. As a famous brand would say. Its probably the best pub in the world. Hi , Patrick ,I was born at Jeffrey Green cottages above Fullwood before I moved to Lodgemoor in the 1970s and like you went to Fullwood Scouts for a brief period and used to fish at Forge Dam for Perch and Trout and Bullheads and catch Stone Loach in the river Porter i used to take my air rifle to the prisoner of war camp and new most of the farmers in that area , I used to ride my trials bike on the moors over Stanedge and Bole Hill Query , I all so went to Nether Green School and like you I am all so an avid camper , must be something in the water ! Every time I I watch your videos it brings back wonderfull memories of when I was that little boy .THANK YOU ,THANK YOU, THANK YOU !

Great video. Wondrous views of a stunning part of the planet. Your commentary makes this a great tour. Sheffield and a Sheffielder with lots of facts and your world famous personal touch. The pandemic has not even put a dent in your creativity. I am re-watching as I type this. You were five when I visited Sheffield, at age eight, one Saturday afternoon, on a outing with a classmate to visit his family of Sheffielders. It all comes back, watching this.

I was up houndkirk a couple of days back. You can see the two power stations near Retford which I think are about 30-35 miles away. Some really good views. Sheffield looks so green from the hills atm.

Patrick just started seeing your youtube videos last week because I’am from Sheffield and used to be a caver. I’ve lived outside of England since 1974 but pop back to Sheffield from Madrid to see my brother Dave now and again. It’s great to hear your Yorkshire accent. Just seen this video where you film from the air my childhood play ground . I lived in Fullwood in the 1960’s went to Fulwood scouts and studied at Nethergreen School until 1963 when I went to Rowlinson. I used to bike to Norton everyday going up the back dirt road from Forge Dam. My mate Gerald TIckeled trout near the Water Wheel drainage tunnel of Forge Dam which we explored up to the blockage.

Great vid Pat. Helps to update the old image of Sheffield as being grimy and full of blast furnaces! Looking forward to seeing the ‘pub’ when it’s finished. What I liked about that was the combination of views, plus a narrative of how times of your life are interwoven with various locations. Perhaps fifteen years ago I drove over to Ringinglow from home, (near Rochdale) to look for some rare birds on Ringinglow Bog. Another good 'un ! Nice use of lockdown time to put together a very worthwhile vlog. Enoyed it a lot . Because of Helen's "shielding" ,we have not been beyond our front door for nigh on 9 weeks, and all the vlogs are showing the countryside bursting forth with new life. I especially miss the Hawthorn and it's exotic perfume. Here's to better days. Trouble is, I'm now green with envy of your pub. Never mind, my pub is open-air and if it rains....me beer gets wet !! I gave my handpumps away ,to a local micro in return for a mixed case of bottles. They are'nt there anymore more's the pity . Hornbeam brewery. Damn fine it was , too . Their beers made several appearances on Coronation street ! Hurry up with that pub vid, this I MUST see. I use pressure barrels/kegs these days , and am enjoying a pint of "Bent Buffer Best Bitter" by mine own hand at Bang Road brewery whilst I watch . You do know.....the next step is to start brewing your own . More lost days ! Keep up the good work ,stay safe all of you . .

Then in 1996 moved to Coventry which is fairly flat, then in 2014 moved to Norfolk (flat) then 2018 Amble in North Northumberland which is hilly, but Amble is Flat lol 😂

We used to explore the old POW camp as kids in the early eighties. If you ever get the chance to get some Ariel shots I'd love to see it from above. Brilliant video again pat many thanks for sharing.

Hi Nick, spent hours up there in the 70,s, remember the hut bases and steps into the huts, the toes was in place althought was before the gypsies, may get some footage one day. My Mum said they used to cycle up there from Nethergreen in the war years to chat to the guards, all the best Pat

That's just how I remember it. I have a distinct memory of a large comunial brown tiled bath. Iv often wondered what life was like for the pows at the time.. I reckon it will cost more than 2p on the 51 bus now though. Thanks again pat I really enjoy sharing your adventures.

I got chills watching that Patrick! I recognised Ringinglow Road straight away in your opening drone footage. I grew up opposite Endcliffe Park, and went to High Storrs school. I spent most of my early life exploring the hills and woods to the West of Sheffield, but haven't lived there for nearly 30 years now sadly. I know all the places you mentioned extremely well though, and I'm not much younger than you ;)
