Eye hooks drilled into ceiling beams are NOT ADEQUATE for aerial rigging. You've already fallen out of your ceiling once with a single hook, without putting much force on the hammock--drops and sudden movements (which will happen sooner or later, no matter how careful you are) can generate forces several times your bodyweight, and you're very likely to hurt yourself. If you're determined to drill into your ceiling anyway, buy your carabiners from a place that sells climbing equipment, not from Home Depot. Locking carabiners are definitely better than non-locking, but check the rating (should be written on the inside); you want at least 25kn. You can also get a climbing swivel that would allow you to spin freely without accidentally unscrewing your rigging. Also, for rigging a hammock, you'll be better off with O-rings or hollow blocks than with a rescue-8, and those aren't expensive. You can get them from aerial essentials for $10-$15 apiece.

I have a yoga trapeze and thought their cross hooks for the ceiling were ridiculous in price. So I got the strongest eye bolts as nd have never had an issue. They just want you to spend more money on their ridiculous equipment prices and tell you that those are the only hooks that are safe. That's horse s***, speaking from experience! I got my trapeze 3 years ago and only use eye bolts to this day with no issues. Every company just wants to feed ppl a link ed of bs to mak ed that money. Eye bolts are the way to go if you install them correctly. Better to spend $3 a bolt verses a re

Truly... you just need to get eye hooks that can support weight. My brother worked on his motorcycle picking up the entire thing with just one eye hook and some straps. The one I use can pick up 4-5,000 pounds. Just make sure it’s in a beam 😊

Yes, I am not a professional but this is what works for me and I have not had issues with it for years. If you are hanging a silk do it at your own risk and if you are worried then hire a professional. This video is just showing how I do it, this is not the only way or the safest way to do it but I this is how I do it. Not everyone has access to all the right kinds of carabiners or hooks, you just have to be safe while you are on it. Thanks for all of the sudden worries about my installment, but it is okay.

@@kimhandley1523 they used some eye screws in the ceiling. I'm not sure where you're located but most hardware stores have them on hand. You're gonna want to find the ceiling joists using a stud finder or a strong magnet. Then, predrill and screw those suckers in. Looks like you can attach the swing with carabiners. I hope this helps yall.

1:11 if you want to spin, look for emerillon swivel pieces. The pieces you bought are intended for hanging silks. It's ok, but doesn't resolve the issue you had with spinning. Maybe you found out since the time you made this video 😉

Erica Lockaby like 11 feet. I ordered one 2 days ago and it’s coming Saturday. That’s how long it was and that’s how long I’ve heard is recommended. Also the best place to hang it is a ceiling from 8-14 feet. (I did A LOT of research lol)

@@susanlowery5541 I do disagree though I unserstand your concern about it, respect about that and dont get me rude or so, please, I have just as she has and it's pretty safe as I did self taught myself, how to knot the silks (and drops) and I did many rough and intense deep drops with my silk, neither the silk knots went off or something else. Accidents can happen, everywhere, at home, yoga studio' s or elsewhere. And we can't look away from it as safety comes first, indeed but it's pretty enough to been safe. All should know, what's comfartbale or not. 🙏

Much of the information you’re providing here is incorrect. Your carabiners do not look like adequate, they should be rated at 25kn or higher. Your rigging “ties” are improper. Aerial essentials has many videos on how to tie your silks as a hammock. I highly suggest you check those out. If you want a double point hammock, I would suggest o rings or hollow blocks, not rescue 8s. Please, please, please, have a rigger or structural engineer look at your ceiling and rig points. A few cute videos for KZbin isn’t worth risking falling and becoming paralyzed. You’ve already fallen once, people die from this. Also, I highly recommend taking classes and enrolling in online classes to prevent injuries from improper execution of moves. Also, rigging any aerial apparatus may void your parents renters or home owners insurance. Another option is to purchase a free standing rig to eliminate any safety concerns. It’s fun, and I also love aerial, but safety should be your number one concern.

Been doing aerial a long time and I corroborate these concerns. She talked about spinning on two static points, there should be a swivel set for any spinning. Also very important, beams and components working load and breaking load. what is rated for non motion can break under movement especially over a long period of time. Your safety is as strong as the weakest point.

You hang them from cross beams in ceiling. Don't use those hooks though- get steel X mounts and caribeners that lock. Your first ceiling beam (find out which way they run) is 16" from side of house, every 12" after that if it was built right. Also, her knots are... no. There are safer knots that aren't hard to learn.

Suggestion for mounting: Instead of 2 fixed points, why not 2 pipes not parallel to each other so you could change the distance between the 2. You'd have to find a way of making sure they don't slide but that wouldn't be difficult. Some sort of clasp would work. Also what about mounting them to a steel plate or 1" or thicker plywood and that is mounted to multiple ceiling studs. Say at least 5 mounts per plate, hopefully several more. Several commenters have mentioned the very important aspect of sudden movements, say if someone slips, and several times the bodyweight is put on those mounts. You have to over engineer this for real safety. Another option would be to install angled vertical mounts under each so its utterly impossible to come down. But also beware of forces not 90 degrees from the ceiling. It could be at an angle so watch for that as well. And how does one test the structural integrity of your ceiling joints when they're covered in drywall? What if there is some rot?

Thats a firgure 8 that tree trimmers use to rig rope with, i would have used the ears to tie it. The half hitches will tighten up with very much use and be very hard to undo.

they can hold weight ranging from 350lbs to 2220lbs i recommended getting eye hooks that can hold at least 1000lbs each but if they hold 600lbs you should use with caution
