KEEP GOING!: I practiced on my new hammock for the first time yesterday. Naturally I did majority of these moves and I was shocked. I have no prior experience just minimal pole training. You definitely utilize all of your muscle groups and it makes you more aware of your body placement. If you aren’t already practicing yoga, workouts, or any sort of conditioning START NOW. It’s not for the weak and you will be uncomfortable I’m telling you. I almost cut off circulation to my legs while attempting a drop because I underestimated how much upper body and core strength was required. 😂😂😂 Have fun, be careful

Every time I try to do the first sitting position it pinches the inside of my knees really bad and I have bruises now. Just something to get used to or am I doing something wrong?
@aerialpractice4 жыл бұрын
It is hard for me to tell this way. Personally I don't have knee pain from the first sitting position. I got bruises from wrapping around the thighs at the beginning, which I got used to after a few lessons. The problem is once I got to use wrapping with one leg, I was avoiding to practice the other leg. Now with my song routine I am really pushing for both sides practice so I am seeing more bruises on my left (weaker) leg, while no pain or bruise on my stronger leg. If your issue persists, I would recommend to stop practicing and seek professional medicine advice. It's better be safe! Hope this helps!

Do you have any tips on how to make trick number 6 less painful on the thighs?
@aerialpractice3 жыл бұрын
It took me a long time to learn that this type of pain is a reflection of my weakness. At first I thought people just got used to it by doing it a lot, but I know now the solution is conditioning. Strength the leg muscles to support the movement! We are doing a 12 week workout challenge starting this Friday (live), join us!

Question! Do you start on 2 ceiling hooks to stay stationary, and then you add a piece so it can spin?? If so what did you add? Also do you know if the hooks can be installed on popcorn ceilings? I really want to get one!
@aerialpractice4 жыл бұрын
it's a swivel. Just not able to spin with it if its hung with 2 points. so i do both, without the swivel is slightly easier.

Hiiii after this current situation I really want to try aerial silks but this video has interested me and I’m wondering if you can do routines with aerial hammock too as it seems like it might be something more accessible. Thanks 😊

Yes! Currently I have two mini routines in the channel and I am working on one with foot lock. Let me share with you the link.

thankyouuuu so much! You do everything so beautifully. If possible how high is your ceiling? Also how tall are you because I might not have enough space please. Finally and sorry to bother you can you learn everything from a beginner as in get an aerial hammock at home and not go to a class before?

@@ellielouise810 You are so kind! Definitely lots of area to improve it. My ceiling is about 2.6M (i wish i was taller), I am 170cm (5'7), I often run into the problem of not having enough space, but my goal is to work with what i have as safe as possible. Some practice over no practice.

how far apart in inches are your carabiners in the ceiling? I feel like my further apart, making the tricks a bit more difficult.

50cm if i remember correctly. I also need to adjust a lot based on my setup.

I have 4 friends under the age of 10 and they all use them and they just use the brand “f.life” from amazon

The 6 year olds I babysit for use my aerial hammock just fine, just gotta make sure the hammock is folded in in a way that's comfortable for them. The main kid I babysit for uses it folded wider than I do because it feels more secure. I wouldn't be worried about the size, apart from making sure it's not too long to use in your practice area. My current practice one is short enough to attach it to a swing set, but therefore too short to climb very far up it. I hope to get a longer one soon, but that's been nice for working with kids on it. The one I got also comes with handle straps you can clip on or take off, and those handles were really helpful for the kids when they were starting out and building their strength and confidence. It gave them something secure to hold onto and pull themselves up by when they were first learning to trust the sling and themselves, and once they were confident they ditched them - just like training wheels on a bike. This is the sling I currently use, and I've had kids and adults 6+ of all sizes use it with no problems, again you just have to find what's comfortable as far as how it's folded over. www.amazon.com/EverKing-Aerial-Yoga-Swing-Antigravity/dp/B077TJHJXS In case this might be useful to anyone else, I tell the kids that there are a few rules to being allowed to use the aerial sling: 1. Stretch first 2. No shoes 3. Learn to use it properly - learn and use proper forms and be aware of what you're doing while you're on it Aerial yoga and dance can be so much fun, but if you don't follow those three rules, no matter what age you are, you can hurt yourself. And every time a child has told me that not following one of those rules wouldn't mean they would hurt themself - guess what? They hurt themself. And learned that I have those 3 rules for a reason.

What if I'm not flexible and don't know how to do the splits
@aerialpractice4 жыл бұрын
It is definitely an advantage to be flexible but it is not a requirement to practice aerial hammock. I also couldn't do splits when I started 2 years ago. I got really serious and wanted to advance, so I started training my flexibility. If they are not your goals, you can simply do what you can, or skip those moves. If they are, check out Top10STRETCH, a couple of videos there can help you to advance =)!

I'm really enjoying your videos. I'm an older beginner that just joined a local class. I'm adding lots of stuff from you and enjoy your tips. My question: can you show silk hammock poses that can be done on a doorway? I'm so sad that I don't have high ceilings. My teacher advises not to attempt rigging except for door frame. I have a silk hammock and also Yoga Body sling

YES! I would also not attempt to rig from door because it's just not strong enough! If i see some poses I will share in my insta so maybe you can see it
