Wow. Your son was born 3 days apart from me. I've noticed people like me born in Feb have overwhelming emotions--to the point they sometimes go unexpressed, unsaid. Knowing where this song comes from, it surely meant a great deal for him to present it to you directly. I do hope you know he's still watching you. I'm not saying that to be poetic. It's a promise from God Almighty, long ago. There may not be a life stream like in Final Fantasy, but there is very much a place for the eternal soul to rest in wait, for reunion with our families from earth. The Loving God that lives would surely honor any love, seeing as it all comes from Him in the first place.

I'm old. I was 16 when I first played this game. I never finished it until I was 20. And something about this song brings about nostalgia, sadness, but most importantly...existentialism. It is the theme of life for me, not Aerith's death. A reminder that everything in this world can be so special. That days pass, but sunrises come on every single one of them. The promise of what is to be. How special this world can be is all up to the person experiencing it. There are hard days--there are trying moments. But in the end we shall prevail and we shall live, love, and expose everything that this world has to offer to our souls. And vice versa. This is my theme for happiness. Perhaps it has to do with the "coming of age" period of my life that I associate it with, but its beauty makes me teary eyed to this day. Enjoy this day, friends. And all the ones that follow. Let the light take you where it will.
@ashengrail8 жыл бұрын
I agree, completely. This version of the theme is triumphant (and follows Sephiroth's theme on the orchestral album), precisely because Aeris sacrificed herself for -life-. Her death was the only way to keep everything going, and she knew it. From death springs life.

Still hits me right in the feels, even now. A fittingly beautiful theme. Aeris, for me, is one of the best characters in RPGs. Despite her past and present circumstances - losing her mother as a child, having Zack disappear on her, living in the slums (though admittedly she has a rather nice house), being persued by Shinra - she's always kind and caring, positive and vivacious. Remember the fun she had dressing Cloud up as a woman? The playful way she teased him over his relationship with Tifa? And she was always there to give him and everyone else hope. She's also brave, putting herself at risk to help Cloud rescue Tifa and get Marlene to safety, and going alone to the Forgotten City to try to save the world. Who wouldn't want someone like this in their life? Her death hurt so much because of the person she was and future that had been stolen from her. A purehearted girl cut down by a madman just when she'd found some good friends and perhaps a soulmate. Goddamnit. It's gonna be hard to play the remake ;_;

Ever since I met that ragtag group of people, I never thought life would be the same. That's what everyone would say at first, but in the end, I enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun joking with Barret, testing out Cids' gadgets, and especially the morale boosted by Cloud. They were the best I could get to know as friends, and in a world where pollution and corruption is the way things work, I felt proud I was with these people. I felt so alone because I was the only Cetra known, and that feeling was extinguished. I felt free. And now I look down from the heavens, as I provide the holy strength to save you and your friends, Cloud. I couldn't be a better person without you. And yes, I still feel a bit jealous Tifa gets more attention. - Aerith Gainsborough, 1997

When I listen to this, what comes to mind is that no matter how hard you try you can't bring them back, but the revenge you seek is justified. It reminds you that what you just lost is what you are fighting to save. It's too late for you, but not others to have that love. That's why it is powerful; to understand that the role of the hero is to honor the love of others as much as your own is the message.

This might not be a remix, but a play by the very FF orchestra. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_concerts
Once a year on or around my grandmother’s birthday I listen to this theme, any more and I couldn’t stop the tears. Aerith reminds me in many ways of my grandmother, her kindness, strength, determination and gentleness. I miss her, it goes without saying; however I know her soul is at peace with God and we will be reunited someday.

This song still makes me tear up. I replayed the remaster in the summer, and just finished the remake yesterday. I don’t think I can watch Aerith die in hd...

I am 33 years old. I was 16 when I played the ff7 in 1997. I might cry when I hear this in the new version. What makes this song/game special is, I remember thinking to myself what I would be doing when I was this age. Would I still be playing video games? Would I have a decent career? What would life be like? My whole 20's ahead of me. Now, in retrospect, I'm glad to have shared part of my youth with these fictional characters.

I've been playing FFVII for the first time, and I knew Aerith's death was coming, but the impact was still so strong. Maybe FFVII is overrated to a certain degree, I can't say for certain because I only have played part of VI and not much if any of the other games (VI is really good too so far but I wanted to finish this first). But if a game can have an impact on so many people like this, I find it hard for people to say something great wasn't achieved.

OraNui56 i played this game 20 years when it first came out. And I've played a ton of games...THIS ONE is by far the best game, from the story to the action to the music. Very balanced blend!

The game is definitely overrated the battle system is average and the UI is kinda trash but the story is amazing

1. This theme has a motherly, kind but bittersweet feels to it.. Like it portrays a sad emotion at the beginning, warm in the middle, and feelings of acceptance and majestic nearing the end.. (a great depiction of aerith) ✨ 2. Tifa’s theme on the other hand, has a caring,kind and pure feels to it; some parts of the song conveys a certain feeling of a sweet loving person ... (again shows the real character of tifa, concealed beneath her brave,independent personality) 💕 3. Cloud’s theme in FF7 AC:”Cloud’s Smile” is unique in its own way. Noticed that in some parts, they inserted a similar melody with Aerith’s theme. At the beginning, it sounds like a person searching for something (referring to the piano chords). but overall that song ,again, gives Cloud’s character to finally be able to forgive himself for aerith +zack, and the song at the end portrays a feeling of acceptance too. But it’s kinda’ more like a cure from depression tune, cause it sounds very ,very warm near the end (i think they used clarinet at that part). Befitting of cloud ⛅️ (^^) ..... In my opinion, all these songs are Great! All heartwarming, but each song gives a different overview of the character. Though I havent played the game before, just reading their backstory and some spoilers; I could feel this gotta be a great RPG game to start playing for next year >
