M16A4 With 4x optic. Its the king of AR varieties.

It has certainly done the work over the years! Tough to argue with!

Your shooting segment really shows how soft it shoots. Nice looking simple rifle.

Thanks! It's a fantastic shooter! Tough to beat a 20".

20 inch Ar15s are my favorite, especially from the gwot era. Currently working on making my 20 inch into a Army SDM-R (not mk12)from the early gwot era.

I dig it! My Mk12ish clone is my favorite AR but there's definitely a soft spot for the 20".

I got one of these with the KAC rail, Microbest BCG, PRI M84, ALG ACT, Vickers padded sling/A2 stock adapter/railed sling mount, and Surefire M951. Fantastic rifle, still deciding what optic I want for it.

Sounds like an excellent setup! Optic selection is always the tricky part.

I got an Aero Precision A4 clone as well. Attached a Primary Arms Micro Prism 1x on top of the carry handle but decided to remove it and stuck with the carry handle iron sights. I set mine up as a secondary home defense rifle. Attached an old military surplus sling, Midwest Industries front sight picatinny rail, and a streamlight protac light on it. Have put 500rds through it so far with no issues. Will be putting more rounds through it this week.

Sounds like a solid setup! That Midwest Industries rail popped on pretty easy? Those Primary Arms micro prism optics are pretty cool.
@bluedownC6 ай бұрын
@Northwoods.Nobodies yep! The midwest industries rail just goes on both sides of the front sight triangle post and is held in by a screw. So far it's been pretty good. I wanted to keep the rifle as light as possible without having to spend extra money on a quad rail or m-lok handguard just to mount a light on. Plus the factory handguards are good enough for me. I would've kept the Primary Arms Micro Prism on but with it sitting on top of the carry handle it did add a little weight to it that I didn't like that's why I took it off and stuck with plain old iron sights. I've never really been a red dot/optics kind of guy. Always used iron sights.

@@bluedownC Nice! I am a fan of Midwest Industries and their products. Nothing wrong with using iron sights. It's a good skill to keep up too. What flashlight are you using?

I couldn't pass up the sale price at the time. That should be a solid clone build!

I stomped around with an a2 for 8 years so I dont have any experience with the carbine and all the go go gadget rails and optics and accessories as such so 20 inch and irons is what I know. And I don't think its necessarily because thats what is home to me but Im also a nerd for original and things before my time. I LOVE my XBRN16E1.
@Northwoods.Nobodies6 ай бұрын
What years did you serve? It's a great skill to maintain and be adept in. I love my modern optics but iron sights are still solid and get the job done. Dan did a great review on his Brownells retro XM16E1 on our channel.

@@Northwoods.Nobodies 95-99 USMC then 07-11 Iowa Army National Guard and still issued that old flintlock A2. I'm not entirely foreign to optics as I do have glass on my M1A and Rem 700 in .308. I remember being so confused between my 1st enlistment to the 2nd with how modular that platform became, at least on the civilian market for sure, it was overwhelming to me considering all the options one could Gucci this thing up with.

I don't have an AR currently but as I would probably get one for home defense, I don't think I would get a full 20" setup. Probably 16", or a 14.5" pin and weld setup. Still a cool rifle setup for sure!
@Northwoods.Nobodies6 ай бұрын
The 20" might not be the first go to for home defense 🤣. I prefer the little 10.5" shorties for home defense. 14.5" is one I still need to add to the collection.
