In this video, Drake "stretches the legs" of the @AeroPrecision Solus (Bravo) bolt action rifle. Ranges shot are 330, 400, and 506 yards. Drake also provides and overview of the rifle and some thoughts over the course of the first 130 rounds through the rifle. The rifle's consistency is apparent in both the initial groups it has been printing, the consistency of cold bore shots landing on top of one another, and the ability to achieve VERY consistent strikes on a 10" AR500 steel target when the shooter does his part. While not well practiced at 500+ yards, the Solus allows Drake to learn quickly and make very short work of solid impacts and follow-up shots.

Nice job and good shooting partner! Little tip for you, try taking your hand off of the scope. I know it feels rigid but nothing is immovable. You’re introducing the same kind of inconsistency as if you rested the barrel on a barricade. Best of luck man!

Hey man, I just found your channel when reasearching 25-45 Sharps. Have you done anything with it lately? I bought a 24" barrel and have loaded lake city brass with 26 grains of Ram Tac. 120 grain bullets chronod at 2475 fps, 117 grain went 2515 and 110 grain flex tip went 2545. I came from Kansas to Albemarle North Carolina 20 years ago. I like the deer hunting here but I sure miss quail and pheasant hunting. Nebraska is a great state for hunting.

No, I’ve not played with it much in quite some time. I landed on a great all around loading with the 100gr Nosler BT and A2200 powder and never needed to do much with it after that. I played with the 117gr Hornady RNSP bullet a bit and it’s a ton of fun with great wallop, but never used it on game. I typically load in .223 Rem cases and not 5.56 brass due to slightly better case capacity and lower rates for pressure signs in the same loadings. I trim down all cases slightly and this has also helped a bit for my needs. I have taken about 7 deer or so with the 100gr Nosler BT loading and found it to provide near ideal performance. Thanks for watching and the comments!

@@AmericanArmsChannel I came into a 5 gallon bucket of the lake city 5.56 and was looking for something to do with it other than 300 black out which I don't like. I prefer the 7.62x39. I don't need to load .223/5.56 because I have plenty on hand so I started looking at the 6mm-223 and it looked promising. Midway even had a complete upper listed for it but it was discontinued. I was looking at having a coustom barrel made for it when I found the 25-45 sharps. As near as I can tell it is nearly identical in balistics to the 6.5 Grendel but with the stronger 5.56 bolt face. I'm not a fan of the milled out bolt faces even though I have 3 of them. 458 SOCOM, 7.62x39 and 6.5 Grendel. I have blocked the gas port on all 3 and shoot them as straight pull bolt actions. I have the side charging uppers from Bear Creek which have worked well. This way they will not be trying to unlock under pressure and break the lugs. I can also load a little hotter because I don't have to worry about over gassing the AR system. So far it has worked well.

What's your opinion on the m24 model
@AmericanArmsChannel

On the Solus Bravo with an M24 barrel profile chambered in .308 Win? I would expect the same performance as the 6.5 Sendaro version. It will be a bit heavier, but it will not recoil much. Great value rifle. I love the action and the feel of the Bravo rifle. If you order through Aero, sign up for their email list so you can get 10% off.

What's your opinion on this rifle vs a Winchester model 70 featherweight compact or a m1 garand
@AmericanArmsChannel

Totally different animals, all of them. All serve a bit different purpose. One is a battle rifle, one is a lightweight hunting rifle, the other is a heavy all-purpose precision rifle. Really comes down to what you want to accomplish. The Solus (Bravo) as it comes from Aero Precision is a heavy precision rifle for it’s chambering (currently .308 Win or 6.5 Creedmoor) and serves as an all purpose rifle best used in “fixed” positions. The Solus Hunter is a lighter weight version intended for hunters who demand precision and a more packable package. The Solus is a modernized action with the versatility to swap barrels, bolt heads, and cartridges in a short time by the user with a few tools and a bench mounted vise.

Fantastic! I really enjoy the trigger tech that comes with it. I adjusted mine down to about a 2lb pull weight and it is perfect for target and hunting. Breaks clean and crisp. No changes need in my opinion and needs.

@@Deuce_Dufresne you could buy the barreled action and just get the Bravo stock in FDE. Cerakote is also an option. I wouldn’t let color determine if you get the rifle or not. It’s a great value, in my experience and opinion.

@@AmericanArmsChannel oh for sure! I was looking at the green one or even the barreled action like you mentioned and just get a Magpul Hunter stock. The green is pretty cool though for sure, just seemed odd to me that they only offer it in two colors (first world problems).

A 350y shot on a 10” plate should be an absolute chip shot. That’s a 3moa plate. Guessing velocity is a very big error. After watching the beginning of this rifle I couldn’t take it seriously. Sorry but…
@AmericanArmsChannel
@AmericanArmsChannel Жыл бұрын
All of the error was myself and learning the dope of the load. I did have the velocity assumption incorrect, as I later confirmed. The rifle will average 0.625 to 0.750 MOA, If I do my part, with the two loadings I have worked up for it thus far. I do not understand you are saying by you cannot take the rifle seriously. Care to elaborate?

@@AmericanArmsChannel in long range you need 3 things. 1. A very accurate zero. 2. A true velocity. 3. The BC of the bullet. In this day and age it’s that simple. Plug it into your calculator and it’s with in 1 click. I click onto this video because there is a bit of a buzz about the new aero actions / rifle in the prs world. But it is a hesitant buzz as aero is know as a lesser quality AR so your video affirms that. A rifle at this price point should produce half moa with ease. This is on par with the Bergara. And in the world of prs that just don’t cut it. We shoot 1.5 moa targets at 450-1000 yards off props and odd positions. It is exactly what we thought it would be.
@AmericanArmsChannel

@@InfamousTactical taking that large of an assumption off of one video, from an individual that is not a practiced PRS shooter, is not a proficient precision rifle shooter, on a rifle that has only had two loads fired through it thus far, and does not often have the opportunity to shoot past 500 yards is a bit of a stretch. By your comment, it strikes me that you are looking for anything to justify your preconceived thoughts on a new product that you dislike and or are skeptical of. The Aero action and barrels are still not a known factor when it comes to the Solus. They are too new. There is a lot of potential with the action design, but as for the complete rifles the jury is still out. I for one am intrigued and will be looking to ring every bit of potential I can out of my example. I do not have any greater emotional investment into the rifle that I liked the design and the concept of a readily adaptable American made PRS/Modern Hunting Rifle out of the box that offered good specs on paper. That drove me to want one to see what it could do for me and my fiancé bought it for me for my birthday. Pretty much the end of story right there. Otherwise, I’m still just learning what the rifle is and working to find what loads it wants to do best with. Regarding Aero being a lower tier AR builder, I would not consider them that. They have had their share of failures, for sure, but overall I have found their products to be of good to excellent quality and high value for the price. The same can be said of their sister company, Ballistic Advantage. Are they “just as good as [fill in the blank with your choice]”, no, probably not. But for what they are and what their customers will use their products for, they are high value. The Solus has potential for Aero, and I believe they are putting their best effort into making it a worth while product line for their customers. They were not happy with production finishes on their first run, so they delayed delivery of initial orders until they were satisfied with what was to be delivered to their customers. The build quality of the rifle is excellent and the presentation of the rifle out of the box is the same. The action smoothes out to be VERY clean cycling in the first 100+ live rounds. There is little lacking for first inspection, so it just comes down to how the production rifles will print. Those that build off of the action have the world as their oyster regarding precision potential.

@American Arms Channel Glad to see complete Solus out in the wild and performing well for you. I had same rifle as you ordered right after release, but ended up canceling my order due to poor communication from Aero about their not being able to meet their 2 week delivery date on an "in stock" item. After no communication I had to contact them by phone 3weeks after order and got a vague answer that there were issues causing delays. I ended up contacting a developer on Snipershide several days later and got the unacceptable barrel finish explanation, when I asked for an updated eta I was ignored. So I canceled, got a refund and built on a different action. Love Aero products and glad to see it working for you like I hoped it would.

Thanks. I'm sorry that you were unhappy with the shipping delay, and I understand the frustration. I'm sure there were a number of individuals who did the same as you. Their release was a little rocky for sure, and I think they really wanted to get the complete rifles out the door in February like they stated they would in January at Shot Show. I was fine with waiting so long as the delivered product was of a quality that satisfied the price. Being this example was a birthday gift I was not going to complain about the delay; I had patience and wanted the rifle to be made well. I received my example to my local FFL on April 5th and was instantly pleased with the rifle's fit, finish, and quality out of the box. As I understand how fast things in construction and manufacturing can go sideways, I was not surprised that they encountered a delay. They certainly were able to get a large number of actions out to retailers and provide the market with some satisfaction very quickly, but the complete rifles are really where most interest seems to have come to. Their chassis system looks to be a solid option, but the KRG stock system was more inline with my B-14 HMR and I like consistency in my rifles, so I went with that. I will say, the Solus was TIGHT in its chassis/stock out of the box whereas my Bergara was not and had paint covering the bedding blocks. I'll take the attention to detail and quality control for $460 more on the American rifle than the initial "tune-up" required on the Spanish one (I do love my Bergara though, shoots amazingly well). I have noticed that they are now releasing a 308 WIN chambering of complete rifles, they have action wrenches and other tools available, and perhaps will have the magnum bolt heads available before end of year. I would not be caught surprised if by January 2024 a 6.5 PRC or 300 WSM complete rifle is offered. This product has a very high potential for those who want to have at-home-workbench versatility and serviceability on their rifles, as well as those looking for a hybrid hunting/target rifle. I can see the design being a very large success for Aero, but only if factory rifles can consistently print good groupings and they keep ample supply of tools and components for the rifles available. Should that happen, there is no doubt in my mind they will expand to a long action offering in the coming years to accept the "long" PRC's and other full house hunting rounds.

We talked earlier this year about 25-45 Sharps. I've killed 2 does this year with mine. I'm useing repurposed Lake City brass with 110 grain FTXs that were designed for the 25-35 lever action. I'm useing 26.5 grains of Ram Tac compressed with cci 41 primers. My velocity is 2688 fps and these bullets will expand at low velocity, easily out to 300 yards. After loading these I was able to get the 80 and 100 grain Barnes bullets. I have not hunted with them yet. I'm getting 2989 fps with 27.5 grains of Tac with the 80 grains and about 2800 fps with the 100 grain ttsx and 27 grains of Tac and cci 41 primers. These loads were compressed but no pressure signs. I'm also seating my bullets out as far as I can and still get them to function in my steel magazines, which ended up being 2.31". This powder is ball type and compress easy. The extruded powders don't compress well because it can crush the pellets which could change it's burn rate.

We had a field 430yds long. We made a cardboard deer. I put up a flag on a five ft pole. my 270 put a three inch group, with a 21in holdover, in the chest. Then I tried my 45/70. I checked my chart for that 400gr cast bullet. My hold over was 11ft. With that five ft pole, it gave a way to measure the holdover. Dropped that pumpkin ball into that cardboard deer. I saw your turkey, glad to see a 28 in use. Denny and I haven't been able to get out yet. Take care.
