12GB of RAM is more than enough for the form factor Nintendo is going for and it's what I was hoping for over the 8GB RAM. People will always try to doom Nintendo. But as usual, once Nintendo shows games like Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin's Creed Mirage and other modern 3rd party games running on Switch 2, the negative naysayers will disappear.

Measured by the 28pin GL852 USB-2 Controller which is 5mm x 5mm in size: The SNW8VF chip on those leaked Switch 2 images is about 12,5mm x 16mm in size. That's 200 square mm. Using a 5nm process, Samsung can fit 126.5 Million Transistors per square mm. That's 25,3 Billion Transistors for the SNW8VF. Using a 8nm process, Samsung can fit 45 Million Transistors per square mm. That's 9 Billion Transistors for the SNW8VF. Given that the original T239 has 15 Billion Transistors... a 5nm process would be needed to fit it on the SNW8VF footprint... or the customized Nintendo version of the T239 has less than 9 Billion Transistors, then a 8 nm process would be perfectly fine.

Absolutely right, the difference between nodes is at best around 15% performance difference, just means less battery life in handheld, as the minimum clock would be 470Mhz on 8nm instead of ~550mhz on 5nm.

Assuming IF it was a 8nm we can only go by the smallest SoC like the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8 GB (also Samsung 8nm with Ampere) NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8 GB (400 dollars) can run on a 20W without a cooling fan (this is important) and it runs it's max GPU speed is 765 MHz. There's also the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin 64 GB (1600 US dollars) recommends a cooling fan to hit a 1.3GHz speed If you apply 765 MHz to the Switch 2's 1536 cores it's 2.35TF This is probably the max handheld speed and it could clock real low like 500MHz (1.5TF) If you Apply 1.3GHz the same way it's 3.99TF for TV Mode. Now thanks to shipping data we know the Switch 2 has TWO cooling fans (I don't believe the dock uses the extra fan) that means it could push itself a little beyond but the fastest 8nm GPU with 2 fans was a unused RTX 3070 running at 1.7GHZ (5.2TF Switch 2 would be a Ps4 Jet engine fan/Samsung Bomb so forget about it). Since the Switch 2 is an Ampere/Lovelace Hybrid I imagine Nintendo/Nvidia managed to squeeze out more juice than your average ampere card(There's actually an Ada Lovelace RTX 3050 rebranded as a RTX A400 ) There was this Korea rumor that it was using a custom 7LPH node (The last node LPH was a 20LPH which gave their 20nm a 40% reduction in power use while keeping the same performance). Regardless of what it ends up being, I can say this for certain. People are going to Underestimate the Switch 2, get slideblinded by a beautiful 3rd party port, then Overestimate it, then get slideblinded by a Pokemon Game that runs and looks worse than Switch 1's Pokemon games, and then claim the Switch 2 was denied it's fullest potential. This I believe.

​@@audie-cashstack-uk4881 funnily I have a 5nm Samsung Galaxy A54 5G has an octa-core CPU with a clock speed of 2.4 GHz for the Cortex-A78 cores and 2.0 GHz for the Cortex-A55 cores The Switch 2 uses a single 8-core A78C, and if the Samsung phones can hit 2-2.4GHz without a fan, well maybe we can expect the Switch 2's CPU to be in that area (The Switch CPU could safely run 2GHz but it was downclock to 1GHz for battery)

The size of the motherboard does not tell you how strong or fast a console/computer is. It does show the features. Having a large mainboard also allows it to be cooled with smaller/quieter fans. Also, those boards could be comparing the board in the old dock to the board in the new Switch. Basically, it can still be all fake news. I hate all these supposed leaks.

Ps4pro power level PLUS nvidea dlss which does wonders for performance (as a pc power user I know), the switch 2 will seriously out perform the ps4 and id say even better than a series s considering the other consoles are running on amd who’s tech is honestly not as good as nvideas features. I think switch wipp play current gen games just fine, I look forward to double dipping into monster hunter wilds lol.

8nm would very rightly be a blow to anyone who had convinced themselves that Nintendo was using a newer process. If Nintendo uses a 4nm or even 5nm process then they could get much closer to running the chip at its full capabilities, whereas with an 8nm process there will be much more downclocking involved. This has implications for the life of the console, and how well it is able to keep pace when it is in its twilight years. It will be an awesome system either way, but if 8mn is real then the disappointment is justified. Personally speaking, I always expect Nintendo to go with the lowest end option, so 12GB or RAM was a pleasant surprise for me, and if they use a 5nm process then I will also be pleasantly surprised.

This looks amazing and 5nm sounds incredible and like it will be a great generation for Switch 2 and that we will able to play so many great games (new and old) on it! And the PS4 Pro speculation is in docked mode and with AI help so I really think it will achieve that. And I hope the system finally are reveled next week so we can start focus on official information and upcoming games!

You can’t make a comparison. Raw numbers don’t work. Let’s say the raw numbers match PS4 Pro’s raw numbers. That doesn’t mean it will only match its performance, because it’s more modern chipsets, meaning they can do more with less. Not to mention DLSS. The raw numbers suggest it would at a minimum perform like Series S.

It'll go from what a ps3 is capable of to around what a ps4 pro is capable of. Won't be able to play the latest super high graphically intensive games, but for what Nintendo does, this should be more than plenty to be able to run their games well

I don't think you understand how bad Samsung 8nm node is. It was terrible even when it was new. I really hope it is 5nm which is not as good as TSMC but it is acceptable

I don't know the doom poster's motives, but I would assume that one reason to be pessimistic, is that Nintendo already did this with Switch 1, people were calling Switch 1 to running into issues with western third party studios (not being able to run most of the newer games) because of the leaks of Switch SoC being Maxwell based, as opposed to Pascal based, and yes on Switch 1 the doomposters were right, despite many weeb games (which aren't for everyone), Switch 1 didn't get that much western games, because of the Maxwell SoC. Games like FighterZ and Kakarot had 8-12month delays for Switch ports, and that's ignoring all the games that never got ported to switch because of "barely better than Wii U" performance, when everyone else was already doing PS4-PS4Pro performance.

And so, the last piece of the puzzle has fallen into place. My only lingering concern for the Switch 2 was what node is was going to be built on. Really, the 8nm thing was more a problem for handheld mode as docked they could simply use more power to cool the system. However, with it likely being Samsung 5nm (which is what many smartphones are built on right now, BTW) it'll likely be just fine in both modes and the rest with come down to how developers utilize the hardware for their games.

Even air cooled, the GPU of the 888 is only good in short bursts, even the GPU in the original Switch can outperform it and has a better feature set, it's a full fat Nvidia GPU with all the bells & whistles that come with that.

​@@jacksputrid So what made the Nvidia Tegra series special, was the GPU part of the SoC, the CPU part was always fairly standard, and not up to the like of Snapdragons best CPU core performance, even the average throughput is better, but yes, it's the Tegra X1 full-fat 256 core Nvidia Maxwell GPU that makes it such a powerhouse (even today), and the slightly updated Tegra X1+ Mariko 16nm version, this SoC is in fact plenty powerful enough to run PS2 games at 1080p, in fact, the Nvidia Shield Pro, which uses the same X1+ Mariko found in the Switch OLED, can run Gamecube games beautifly, there are also some amazing remastered ports of Gamecube & Wii games for it in 4K. The only realistic competition the Nvidia Tegra line had as far as the GPU's parts of the SoC, was from Apple, it took Apple a while, but after about 18 months they managed to produce an SoC that could match the Switch's X1 GPU, and the Apple M1 completely annihilated the X1+ Mariko, if only the Switch 2 had the same Tandem-OLED 16:12 (4:3) aspect display as the latest Ipad Pro, and now Nvidia have poured money into R&D for a good CPU, and their new Grace CPU is an absolute monster, meaning not only will the Switch 2 have a powerhouse full-fat Nvidia Blackwell GPU. It will now also be paired with a powerful CPU thanks to the new Grace CPU, something the Switch 1 didn't benefit from, combined with Nvidia's awsome DLSS & DSR, it's gonna be a killer portable game console, I'd love also to see a Steam Deck with an Nvidia Tegra Blackwell GPU + AMD X3D CPU (15w TDP version), as those two together would e incredible for a handheld gaming PC, as it needs to be an X86 based CPU of course for Steam OS or Windows gaming, I'd of loved to see the original Tegra X1 + an Intel m5 Kaby-Lake core CPU based handheld back in the day, along with 4GB VRAM, would have been dope, I still love my GPD Win 2 with it's Intel m5 Kaby-Lake CPU & HD615 iGPU, plays COD BO2 perfectly at 60 FPS max quality graphics settings.
