What a great experiment! I've had my eye on the Bounty Basic because of the price, but I might continue to save and hold out for the Bounty Elite! I did grow Iznik cucumbers in the Harvest unit and it grew vines up to the ceiling with alot of cucumbers. Those plants lasted 5 mos. It was my first time with hydroponic cucumbers and it was so much FUN! ❤😊

So much information I was not aware of ! ( I had thought the only difference between the two models was the Internet connection ! ) And I did not know that cucumbers need a lot more light than let‘ s say lettuce….wonderful experiment ! 🙏

Thanks for the excellent video. After watching I immediately purchased another Bounty Basic ! At over DOUBLE the price for the Elite vs Basic, at the time the video came online, I realized I could buy a lot of cucumbers with the extra $160 + dollars. 😂 😊

Great info. I have felt, all along, that the higher wattage would be more productive for fruiting plants. I wasn’t sure about leafy vegetables.

Thank you for this concise comparison. I currently have an open Basic and open Elite and considering what to grow to maximize the capabilities of each. Thinking about growing bush beans in the Basic and beit alpha cucumbers in the Elite.

I have a question have you ever done an experiment for tomatoes in let’s say an example how well they do in a harvest XL versus a bounty basic. Because their lights are different wattage I was just curious if you’ve ever done that and if you have, could you show me the video that you have done because I can’t find anything like that Thank you and love your videos great education and information. Thank you.

I don't have the comparison between Harvest XL and Bounty Basic but I have a comparison between Bounty Basic (30W) and Bounty Elite (50W) for tomatoes here kzbin.info/www/bejne/ip-wZHWIlNd7isk . When it comes to Harvest XL vs Bounty Basic, I think the difference will be negligible as we are comparing 25W vs 30W, just 5W difference.

If you have a Bounty Basic then I wonder is supplemental light would bring parity? For the normal price difference of $150 you can get a lot of supplemental lights.
@aerogardenexperiments Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that should definitely work, and it's a good idea.

Hi. Thank you so much for your videos. I have a question-- I have both a harvest and a bounty basic. I'm trying to grow greens for salads and/or smoothies. If you had these two, how would u grow most efficiently? I learned first hand through one of your videos that you really just can't use all the holes, particularly if you want ur plants to grow more. If you had both of these devices, how many holes would u use to grow the most amount? I was thinking 4 or 5 max for the bounty basic and 2 or 3 for the harvest. What would u do? How many pods would u fill out of the 15 pod capacity. I appreciate your feedback, thank you. I'm going to grow either salad greens, heirloom salad greens, or mixed romaine.
@aerogardenexperiments Жыл бұрын
It really depends on the type of greens you are growing. For example, if I grow lettuce or spinach, I would use all the holes but I will limit growing 1 plant per pod. If I grow other greens like Kale or Chard, I will stick to 4-5 plants in Bounty and 4 plants in Harvest model. It feels like we have lot os space initially, but they get overcrowded eventually. But if you can aggressively harvest the greens (like every 2-3 days), then you can grow in all pods.
@swimm3r137 Жыл бұрын
@@aerogardenexperiments when you say "grow one plant per pod," what do you mean? Isn't there just one plant per pod? Are you saying there's more than one?
@aerogardenexperiments Жыл бұрын
If you buy the pre-seeded pods from Aerogarden, they come with multiple seeds per pod to guarantee the germination. So, we need to thin out the seedlings.
@swimm3r137 Жыл бұрын
@@aerogardenexperiments ooooooooh.............. thats why they get overcrowded....... Do u just remove them? Yes, I buy the preseed pods.

Do you think a knock-off model with a 35 watts light would be OK to grow bell peppers? Or are they as light hungry as cucumbers ?

Pepper palnts are also light hungry.However, 35W lights should definitely work for peppers.
