I like you show the real experiment with fails and successes.not like other bloggers that have 90 per cents germination and everything magically grows fast in their garden...

little tip with larger bearing fruit and veggie add more nutrients to the water itll provide more energy for the plant to grow more than 1 at a time. when i start getting this many flowers i up my dose to 1.25x what it calls for and when i start getting actual veggies and fruit i do 1.33x the recommended dose of food
@aerogardenexperiments Жыл бұрын
yeah, I increased the nutrients but still no luck. Maybe the light is also a huge factor.

When a vegetable isn't pollinated you can pick it and cook it better than let it die the flowers are also edible

I am amazed! I already watched this video once! I had to watch again! I never would have even attempted growing zucchini in a iDoo or Aerogarden. Amazing!
@aerogardenexperiments2 жыл бұрын
Just FYI... It produced only one Zucchini. All the remaining flowers (nearly 25 female flowers) just died no matter how good I pollinated them. I am trying some other Zuccini varieties.

Very interesting - glad to see that it's possible. I've been looking at trying to grow 8 Ball Zucchini (grows in small balls instead of normal zucchini shape. I wonder if you would have had more success harvesting the zucchini at about half the size you did? I eat a lot of raw zucchini in salads instead of cucumbers (it keeps longer than cucumbers do) and I enjoy it, cauliflower, carrots and bell peppers dipped in hummus for supper with some fruit -- a vitamin packed end to the day.

Wow! That's a lot of good eating. I am also liking raw zucchini when it was young. I am going to try harvesting zucchini when they are young.

Wow! Love your experiments. I always wondered what other things can be grown in AeroGarden besides that hat comes in preseeded pods. Zucchini don’t need all their leaves. You can prune anything below fruits. Harvest when smaller and often to promote more fruit. Keep up good work!

Thank you. I started pruning little aggressively now. Hoping for some zucchini.

Ive learned that clipping the pointy tip of the hard seed shell helps speed up germination.
@aerogardenexperiments Жыл бұрын
Interesting. It's true for many seeds with hard shells, such as Cilantro. Never thought of it for Zucchini.

great video! what was that mixture you did to get the seed to germinate. do you have a video on that?

That is just the coco coir ( amzn.to/3Qd4R1I ). I don't have a detailed video on it but it is straightforward. I bought 1 lb coco coir brick. I will break it as needed, add water, and use it directly in seed starting tray.

Did the zucchini taste good? How did it compare to ones grown in an outside garden?

It tastes same as grown in soil, 1000 times better than store bought one.

Hello sir, I have been watching all your great videos. I'm learning a lot, thanks! I have a question for you. I planted my first hydroponic system last night - it's an IDOO. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong though, since my domes are not sweating ... so I peeked through one of the stickers and saw a lettuce seed had already germinated. Do you think there is a problem with the machine? Do plants need heat to grow, or only light? Thanks. :)
@aerogardenexperiments Жыл бұрын
You will see moisture inside the domes when they are fully sealed. But nothing to worry about not seeing visible moisture on the domes. They still retain the moisture and help the germinaton process. Just do your best to keep the domes tight enough. Even if you can't, that's OK. Coming to heat, a little bit of warmness helps with germintion. Once the seedlings are established, the heat requirement varies. Some plants like tomatoes prefer warm temperature. Peppers and cucumbers prefer even more warm temperatures. But the plants like Lettuce, Spinach, Cilantro, etc. prefer room temperature and even little colder temperatures.

Not positive but you might be able to collect pollen ahead of time so you’ll have a supply when female flowers bloom You should at the least google not see if that’s possible I heard it somewhere some time ago Hope it helps I am going to try zucchini’s in my aero garden farm soon myself
@aerogardenexperiments2 жыл бұрын
Sure. I also heard about collecting and saving the pollen. I will experiment with it.

Have wondered about growing zucchini in an AeroGarden Bounty. Seems possible based on your grow. Although, I see that the zucchini is like a cucumber plant in that the garden only seems to support only a few or even only one fruit at a time.
@aerogardenexperiments2 жыл бұрын
It produced only one Zucchini. I saw nearly 30+ female flowers after harvesting the first Zucchini, and I pollinated each and every flower but none of them turned into Zucchini. On top of all this struggle, iDoo pump died and I didn't realize that until the water is full of mold and plant died. Anyways, it's totally possible to grow Zucchini and I am going to try some other varieties to check if other varieites are any better.
@theaerogardenhomestead2 жыл бұрын
Boy, that got big. Did you get powdery mildew on the leaves? I grew cucumber indoors and ended up with powdery mildew on the leaves, oddly enough. I do wonder if the zucchini needed more nutrients, if that was why the fruit wasn't forming. I might need to add this to my list of things to grow for my next winter garden.
@aerogardenexperiments2 жыл бұрын
Not a lot. I noticed powdery mildew now and then on few leaves and I removed them immediately.
