Aeromotive Tech Tuesday | PTFE Hose end install on PTFE Hose

We receive a lot of calls weekly about how to install your Hose ends on to your fuel lines. We spent the time to break down all the tools and product you will need to complete this job correctly and get a tight seal when you are finished.

I've watched several assembly videos for this particular ptfe hose with the associated reusable hose ends. I believe this is the Fragola 6000 series black hose with the Fragola "Real Street" reusable hose ends. This video is in my opinion is the most detailed, and best articulated I have seen. Don't use a cutoff wheel or chop saw. It will fill the line with tiny metal and PTFE shavings. Use the loppers he shows, and then once you have frayed the stainless steel braid away from the PTFE liner, you can simply trim the pinched portion of the liner with a razor blade to get rid of the kinks.

Plumbed my 90 gt Mustang with an aeromotive kit from summit 8 years ago. Had all kinds of leaks from brand new braided line. Wish I had this line back then. Will these fittings work with AN fuel lines?

Does it matter if the fitting spins while tightening it up?? As this line is hard to maneuver I tried to keep the fitting from spinning but I actually had to turn it back a hair once I was done tightening it to make it line up.

Nice video man. Is there any difference in screw the head instead the nut? There is lot of videos with people screwing the head and others screwing the nut.

No, no difference, other than if using the vice jaw insert it's easier to capture the nut and manipulate the "head" or hose-end "B" nut assembly. Thanks for the comment!

Does the heat from the cut-off wheel melt or distort the inner teflon liner at all?

No, we did not experience any issues of that sort.

Thank you, and you're right, it is too long if you're already familiar with this type of hose and hose-end assembly. Admittedly I'm catering to those who've never done this before and may not have the tools and/or experience. Thanks for your feedback!

I pulled up a PTFE FITTING assembly video to find out the orientation of the feral in the fitting which way the flare is supposed to face opposed to the flat end, this video is obnoxiously long winded. Anyone with basic mechanical understanding shouldn’t need to have every aspect of the hose, fitting, parts of fitting explained as if they were being taught as a 6 year old child with ADHD. Holy hell man. I had to watch and listen to over 15 minutes of intricate ramblings ,just to skip over explaining which way the feral is inserted between the stainless braided sheathing and PTFE LINER. There is 20 minutes of life I won’t get back. If someone has the mechanical knowledge and confidence to attempt this assembly/installation they should not need to know how the line was conceived and why it is made of any certain material. That said. The camera caught a glimpse of the feral inserted properly so I can now carry on with my project.

I'm 72 years old and have been assembling automotive and marine an hose assemblies since I was 16 years old. The "ptfe core"hoses are "relatively" new, and do indeed require a specific procedure for proper assembly. I found this video to be detailed, very well articulated, and appreciated by me. I find your comment to be somewhat boastful and unnecessarily critical. But I guess not everyone is as experienced as you perceive yourself to be. So in my "limited" experience with an hose assembly's I find this video to be an excellent source of information, especially for someone who is considering using ptfe hose for the first time. Also, I find it amusing that someone with good mechanical knowledge and understanding was unable to determine the proper (and obvious) orientation of the Ferrule. Check yourself dude, the guy did a great job.
