I find myths really infuriating, Dick Wagner was brought in to play lead guitar on Train Kept a Rollin’ during the Get Your Wings sessions. It was the first and last time a session musician was used on an Aerosmith record in place of one of the members. Every instrument on toys in the attic is played by the band. So, while I appreciate the deep dive into the isolated tracks, I would appreciate it more if people looked into things before they open their mouth, because this is how terrible and unfounded rumors circulate. Someone trusted says some thing, and then everyone believes it. But you were listening to is Brad Whitford and Joe Perry.

Oh, and one last thing, it is two guitars playing during the verses and Chorus. Not one doubled. She listen with headphones. You can hear the small differences, Perry, isolated on one side, and Whitford on the other. Joe plays the intro riff, as well as the lead after the first chorus, and the lead on the entire outro

what about when they broke up? Was Joe Perry on Rock in a hard place? Because I think at that time he started the Joe Perry project... I don't really remember. I just remember being heartbroken as a teen and getting to go see them and there was no Joe Perry. But I agree.... Joe Perry was playing

Very cool hearing the isolated sounds like that. Ref. Dick Wagner - I found this in response to a similar question reference the Toys In The Attic Album: "The Dick Wagner part has been confirmed. Ted Nugent had a morning radio show here many years ago. One morning Dick Wagner was on with Ted & confirmed that he played the solos on Train Kept a Rollin'. He played a late 50's Les Paul Jr. through a small Fender amp. Apparently he was brought in by Bob Ezrin, the circumstances as to why were not revealed. He seemed to remember that Joe Perry was at the studio, but did not attend the session." The entry did not say Dick Wagner played on Walk This Way.

It's said that Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner played in Train Kept A Rollin' from the 1974 album Get Your Wings... and that's all. But Dick Wagner is not in Toys In The Attic, he was probably playing alongside Steve Hunter for Alice Cooper during that time

I've loved this song since it came in '75 (when I was like 12 or something... yikes!). I love the guitar solos in this tune (especially that first break - what phrasing!). I have immense respect for Joe Perry, but no one will ever convince me that he played these solos - maybe it was Brad or some studio cat, but Joe's style just doesn't line up with these breaks... I love what y'all are doing - these videos are amazing!!!

The talk box makes sense. Perry has played an instrumental version of WTW using a talk box instead of vocals during Project/Solo tours. Perry Is God!

Asking if Dick Wagner played on "Walk This Way "is saying that Wagner is the one who came up with one of the most iconic and recognizing riffs in rock history and not Joe Perry?!!! Doubt it. He played a one take solo on Train Kept a Rollin (cover song). Big difference in those claims for an artist. Name me any original Dick Wagner song and I will name 10 Joe Perry originals....Ok. Enough of that... Love the show guys! So original and an unique and interesting perspective on great songs...Rock on..

Toys in the Attic, my favorite Aerosmith album. I've listened to it since the 70's and I've never been convinced its Joe playing lead on most songs. None of it is his style. The live solos are not even remotely close to what's on the album. I've always believed those solos (and some rhythm playing) was a hired gun..... on the Toys In The Attic album.

Sure sounds like doubled rhythm parts on the verse and chorus. Brad is a better player than Joe. Joe is unique and creative but sloppy, but so was Jimmy Page I suppose but they both looked cooler than guys like Brad which I guess is pretty important in this genre.
