Few people know that Elvis was executive producer of his own music. Hand picked everyone in his band and backup singers. I hope you will breakdown, "If I Can Dream" and "In the Ghetto" sometimes. Thanks for your great reaction, it seems to be open season on Elvis from people who never grew up with him. I lived in the 50's and saw the affects he had on music and culture. He sang ever genre of music from Country, to Opera, he had a 3 octave range and in some parts of the world is only known for his gospel. He was hated at first. Because back then it was racist and white stations would not play black artists until he changed that. He hung out on Beale street, and listened to everybody, BB King said that Elvis was so good, so electric that everything he recorded went gold. Some young people started the racist rumor, which is ridiculous, Elvis grew up in a black Ghetto, and was so poor his stillborn twin brother was buried in a shoe box. He was so generous, he even paid medical bills for both Jackie Wilson and Roy Hamilton. thank you for your deep dive, and I hope you'll do more of the king.

The bassline is played by Mike Leech. The drummer is Gene Chrisman. The piano part is played by Bobby Wood. The guitarist is Reggie Young. The organ player is Bobby Emmons. Strings and horns are arranged by Glen Spreen. The female background vocals are Donna Thatcher, Jeanie Greene, Mary Holladay and Ginger Holladay. Elvis himself also overdubbed a harmony vocal.

this was from American studio's with the wonderful Chip Moman in Memphis. the ladies singing are the Blossoms, and these musicians were studio musicians. before Elvis would build his TCB band for Las Vegas performances. this whole Album Elvis from Memphis album was a creative genius. Songs like "Any Day Now". "Only the Strong Survive". "In the Ghetto" "Power of My Love" , were brilliant and unfortunately Parker, his manager broke up the relationship between Elvis and Chips because Parker thought Moman had to much power over Elvis recordings. But that collaboration was wonderful. Thanks for given Elvis chance. He still makes the hair stand up on my arm.

The reason for the fade out is because Elvis did it live before it was released, and that was how he was doing it in Vegas 😊
@gdepbb
@gdepbb Жыл бұрын
@user-jy9kf5ww6d it's wildly known why. As I said, Elvis was doing it live in Vegas before it was released where Elvis was fading in and out.
@qso3566
@qso3566 Жыл бұрын
Wrong. He didn't fade it out live in Vegas. The producer Chips Moman did not include a fade-out on the original recording. But then when RCA staff producer Felton Jarvis got the tape of the recording he made the decision to add the fade-out lasting for nearly 15 seconds before fading back in. Many years later, Chips Moman revealed that Felton Jarvis was not happy about Elvis recording at American Sound and in his opinion, Jarvis messed up the song by adding the fade-out.

@@gdepbb NO. Elvis did the very first live version of SM in Vegas on August 3, 1969 and the record was released on August 26. In that live version the vocals and music did NOT fade in and out. This is a fact, you can accept it or not. You also have been provided the history of how the fade-out came to be included in the record. You're wrong, so stop arguing already.
@gdepbb
@gdepbb Жыл бұрын
@qso3566 he did not do the first live version on Aug 3rd. That's the first known version out there, but he was doing it since July 31st, so maybe you should get your facts straight. There is recorded evidence that he faded up and down before it was released the same way he was doing it in Vegas so I'll believe what i want and you believe what you want.

While I can appreciate breaking this down and isolating all the tracks of one of the greatest songs of all time, you guys really should have researched and done your homework before making this video because you passed along a lot of false information. Suspicious Minds was recorded at American Sound Studios with producer Chips Moman and the sessions produced the best music of Elvis' career, including SM, In the Ghetto, Kentucky Rain and so many more. The drummer was Gene Chrisman, not Ronnie Tutt. The guitar player was the fabulous Reggie Young, one of THE best studio musicians of that era. His riffs on Suspicious Minds as well as the opening of In The Ghetto are absolutely iconic. The Sweet Inspirations did NOT record on the American sessions. The female backup singers were young sisters Mary Holladay and Ginger Holladay, Jeannie (Mary) Green, and Donna Thatcher (who became a member of the Grateful Dead). For anyone interested, here is a video strictly of the isolated vocals for the backup singers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIbJh6N7a8-ApMU

These guys wrongly credit almost all the musicians. This was done at American Sound Studios, with all the top session players. Not Elvis’ touring group, who they credit with it. Scotty Moore hadn’t been playing with Elvis since the 50s. If they know as little about recording iconic tracks as they do here - just don’t bother paying attention to them at all.

This isn't the original version from 1969. This is the remastered version with the Royal Philmonic Orchestra. At around the 10 min mark his voice is just doubled in the studio when they remastered the vocals while they were adding in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for the music. None of the music in this version is from American studios or Elvis' TCB band. Its all the Royal Philharmonic and was done just a few years ago around 2017 or 2018. How do so called music experts not know this or even more so cant tell the difference between this amd the original version?

Good one boys, Reggie Young on Geetar, sounds like a cheap one maybe a Jaguar or Jazzmaster, Hall of Famer played with everybody, Cash, Haggard, even Herbie Mann for you flute freaks, but Elvis was washed up by the time most of you yutes was born. Over rated, how 'bout some Jackie Wilson. Jackie died broke, Elvis died smoked. Elvis is Cher with greasy hair, only Stevie Nick's has a more wiggly vibrato. He didn't write s***, faked guitar more than Taylor Swift. The King? I'll take BB, Albert, Freddie and Markus for that matter. However, I Love you guys!!!!!
