I pick one of these up about 2 years ago for $25 at a thrift store. They are pretty good vacuum.

Just to say HI. We are new here, coming over from "HooverLux", he mentioned you in today's video. My sons are surfing through your videos, mesmerized by all the weird and unusual vacuums and your fine skills. Big fans here. Looking forward following you. ;-)

Aerus had three successive models and two successive labels of TTI (Oreck) lightweight vacs: the U162A/Lux Lite, sold from circa 2005 to 2009, in white with a light gray bag; the U162C/FreshEra, sold from circa 2009 to 2013, in white with a light gray bag; and the U162E/FreshEra, sold from circa 2014 to 2016 in black with a gray bag. The Tacony private labels are the current lightweight cleaners: U163A Lite by Aerus (2016- ) and U163E Lite Cordless by Aerus (2017- )--both in black. It's sad that Aerus LLC no longer manufactures any of its own products.

I bought one of these vacuums from the trade in pile at the local vac shop.Was in like new condition-hardly used.I think these are also a "deal closer" machine that is offered to a stubborn customer to get them to buy.

That is actually a rather fine offering from TTI. They are like a cross between an Oreck and a Hoover Concept/Elite. They are loads better than a classic Oreck in the fact mainly that they move significantly more air due to their larger fan. Likewise, due to the larger fan and therefore more (or appropriate) load on the motor, they run at a much more reasonable RPM, and with the shielding around the motor, are much quieter than an Oreck as well. Also, due to the lower motor speeds, they are less burning to the hand, and therefore the carpet by the brush. The motors are also infinitely better than the Ameteks in the pre-TTI Orecks, though I don't know what the newer classic ones use. The TTI offering there uses a Johnson Electric motor, which is also a Hong Kong-based company, and unlike the Ameteks, do have more epoxy potting on the armature, including where the wires are crimped to the commutator, so it will last significantly longer, as well as not having the cheap push terminals mounted onto lacking amounts of plastic. Altogether not bad units. My local Aerus location stated that they sold the older U162A for $299.

Sweet vid man, ya I can’t imagine how much aerus charged for one of these. We actually have one of their storefronts here in town but not an oreck one. My Miele dealer does sell oreck/Hoover and simplicity though.

My God man....I have Lux Light Aerus ( looks like yours) but I couldn't find the same brand Type B bags ANYWHERE. So I'm guessing a Hoover or Royal Type B bag will fit mine. Thank you!!

I own a Arus Lux Lite model U162A . I have a question for who ever may want to respond. Should I use blue loc tite on the threads of the motor shaft before I tighten the fan assembly?

If Aerus (Air Russ) needs to offer a lightweight upright they should develop one. This is no where near the build quality of a Guardian Upright which is what someone spending as much as Aerus asked for expected, a junior Guardian Upright. It's a credible machine for $350.00 but not $700.00 and it's not an Aerus. The two offerings from Tacony are an improvement but I still think that Aerus needs to develop some new products. First I believe that they should go back to standardization of attachments across the line which was something that fostered trust in them from the customer's standpoint. Second, the Guardian Upright needs some updates including a swivel base. A second attempt needs to be made at an attached hose and a method for on board tools. The Guardian Platinum Canister needs a telescoping wand and the accessory combination rug/bare floor tool needs to have a fitting for the parking slot. Still great machines but they need to be updated and they need to offer more machines for more markets. Not every canister buyer needs a powernozzle machine and the same is true of central packages. The company suffered a major loss of identity in the marketplace and needs to create a new identity for themselves as Aerus barely has brand recognition. It's a shame because they're a national treasure along with Kirby.

+Bruce Solomon I couldn't agree with you more about every door-to-door vacuum company! Kirby needs to develop some new machines or at least put their name on a couple of sebo machines
@LlyleHunter7 жыл бұрын
I don't know if they should do that. But a variety of Kirbys for different purposes could only help Mr Buffet employ more people. However the brand identity loss that Aerus suffered when loosing the Electrolux name is incalculable. That Electrolux AB required it here while discarding it in favor of the AEG name in England is not only irrational and incongruous to me, it also proves that they didn't value their own brand equity themselves and should have thought about using the AEG name before inflicting so much damage on another company. What makes it less rational is that it's a company that they still hold a share of and supply motors for.

Customers should also be able to buy online as well and avoid the door to door nightmare.

Aerus is not a manufacturing company anyone . Just a re-hash of old designs sold at ridiculously high prices . Check out their top of the line Guardian platinum. It's just an import from europe

+EvilKlownz4u yes but I do like them as a vacuum .
@LlyleHunter7 жыл бұрын
That's just it. I like Royals as vacuums very much. Over the years I've liked many a Hoover and Eureka as a vacuum for different reasons than I've liked a Royal, Aerus or Kirby. But the reasons that I've lliked Royals, Aerus and Kirby had always been more similar. The lines have been obscured. Not every Royal upright was an all metal machine but their abs plastic machines are good quality commercial machines. Those being the machines that were designed by the Royal division. There are currently rebranded (badge engineered) Hoovers throughout Royal's lineup that are nothing more than some of Hoover's better machines that until recently offered only a better warranty.

Aerus is correctly pronounced "Air-us"--NOT "Air-e-us"; or perhaps you are mispronouncing it on purpose?

They should be pronounced Air-E-us because you need to take Aerius allergy meds to use the machine. Aerus are not known for allergy friendly machines.
