this would fall short no matter what but the fact that it's a follow up to THE savage mini album put the final nail in its coffin i'm afraid 😭

SM is pushing this album HEAVY in the US (multiple US distributors, performances on GMA and Jimmy Kimmel) and, if Life’s Too Short is any indicator of their marketing strategy, I think that the SM marketing execs think that the acoustic guitar sound is what Americans want which would explain ICU too lol. I also think they included those already released songs on this mini to give them an “official” American release. My theories aside though - Girls (the song) is definitely a grower for me bc it doesn’t have any real hook but it’s sooooo good once you get into it like for me even better than savage.

Girls- def listen with earbuds but it was a grower. the disappointment I had when it dropped was too much lol Illusion - hyperpop goodness Lingo - def interesting but not hating it especially the verses ICU - weak ballad I feel they could’ve put out something better like lucid dream-esque. Not added Life’s too short- Korean > English version. But it’s cute 6.8/10 - it’s good but doesn’t hit as hard as Savage EP

From what I heard, the songs are kinda like divided between kwangya and real world. So girls, illusion, and lingo maybe are songs from kwangya, and lts and icu are songs from the real world. On other note, I lovee illusion and lingo

Illusion is about the black mamba luring the girls, it is the black mamba's pov that's why it has "you're so yummy yummy in my tummy tummy tummy"

I have to agree with you abt the mini im not that into it especially compared to how much I loveddd the savage mini :( the differences for me is that I loved girls first listen it gives me video game vibes which I always love lol but im not a fan of life’s too short either 🥲

As I always say, these tracks are good addition to their discography. Girls really feels like a culmination of Black Mamba, Next Level, and Savage. As a really fan of Savage mini, Girls is quite underwhelming and we're really exhausted with the pre-release, and the promotion they did with Life's Too Short, like the excitement that is supposed to be for the title track was given to the pre-releases. I hope they'll be back in their hyperpop roots, or if not, give us a more cohesive album. But Girls is no near bad, if you'll compare the recent releases, it really stands outs from the rest.

These mellow tracks are a balance to Savage mini, especially they are going globally with their showcases and live performances.

def a downgrade compared to their first mini, but i think they will get back to the rails on their next album, which i think it's gonna be their first full one.

I get a 5 out of 10. I just don't think that this is a very cohesive album and I'm not including the tracks that were released last year. With the exception of Illusion, I don't think the other tracks really support the new sound they were going for in Girls. Sonically, all the songs on Savage it's well together but not on this album. I just don't know what they were thinking.

Your confusion about Black Mamba being here is hilarious because literally WHY? Honestly of the new songs Lingo, Illusion and Life’s Too Short are superior to me, but we’d already heard the latter two so like?? I just think they need to stick to releasing one title track with an album and not do all this pre-release teaser track bs, cause they lost the momentum for the actual album cause we’d heard it all before!! No the more I’m typing the more confused and annoyed I am!!!
