I feel like I learned a lot! Although I'm not sure why sometimes you set a layer as "add" or "multiply" or "color burn", what does that change?

Glad this tutorial is helping you learn! As for your question, when you set a layer with the blending modes, they have different effects on the layers. For example, Add makes the layer lighter in color and Multiply makes the layer darker in color. It's best to try it though to really know the difference :)
