Today, we're delving into the Eternal Might precon featuring Temmet and Hashaton, going over the best reprints in the deck, the new cards exclusive to the precon and upgrades I want to make to it.

Something someone noted, I missed that Crowded Crypt was a reprint. Apologies for that. I also missed that Accursed Duneyard was the new card I was supposed to have included, so here's my notes on that one: Great card in the precon. Has lots of crossplay in Vampire, Spirit or Skeleton-focused Commander decks, as well as a good card for a Nazgul deck since it also regenerates Wraiths. Don't know of too many players using Specters, but maybe that's a hint that more are coming to the game in the future.

ooooh great video man! I'm very excited for this precon! i've had a varina deck that just hasn't quite clicked for years... and its about to get some seriously awesome upgrades XD

I've played Varina a few times. It can pop off but needs certain cards to consistently be a threat. When I saw this precon, it was the first card that came to mind combined with Temmet.

It's a great card in the deck. For the video, I wanted to focus more on Aetherdrift, Amonkhet, Hour of Devastation, Aether Revolt and Kaladesh sets for flavor reasons, with just a few other cards outside those sets for improving functionality. If I'm powering the deck up for full potential, Raffine is on the short list to get into the deck, for sure.

I agree that start you engines! Is slow but it's not as slow as people think. If you got it turn 2 you are at 1. If you had a creature(i know a bit of a stretch but there are some good 1 drop zombies) you can attack and get to 2. Turn 3 attack get to 3 turn 4 attack you are at max speed and have access to the abilities. So your best case is its active turn 4 which is still pretty early in the game. Again that's best case and I'm not arguing it's GREAT just better than people think.

The issue I've had playing the cards is you need a certain concentration of Start Your Engines cards to get up to speed quickly. If you're only playing 1 or 2 in your deck, it's pretty slow. And I don't want to dilute the deck down to try and force more of the mechanic into the deck, just to make 1 or 2 cards work more reliably. And yes, best case is turn 4, but that would only be if you had Zahur on 2 and was able to swing right away. It's not guaranteed and it's such a narrow possibility that I decided to not include him in the deck. I struggled hard during sealed this weekend with Burnout Bashtronaut and a few other SYE cards because if I didn't get them down on turn 1-2, removal or blocks basically ruined any chance of hitting Max Speed, limiting the SYE cards' performance. I'm not going to write off the mechanic just yet, but personal experience with them so far, is that the cards the mechanic is strapped onto are just so-so until you hit Max Speed, and it's slow to get to 4 unless you're deck is built to force damage through quickly once the engine has started, and unfortunately, we have better versions of most of what they gave us already in several formats. So it feels like they just deliberately nerfed a bunch of cards, simply to make SYE cards feel better than they really are when you do get to max speed.

Maybe this is the deck it finally does something good. Based on past experience, I haven't been impressed by the card and I've tried it in several, including decks led by Varina, Scarab God, Grimgrin, and Gisa and Geralf (I play a lot of zombie decks).

@ Same here, I tried most multicolor version of zombies and so far he did not make the cut, ever. But this might be his day to shine (and mine to add the foil version)😅

as with other decks that draw obscene amounts of cards, sheoldred the apocalypse is a possible include. it can turn your x draw spells into nukes, and her gaining you life can allow running the bolas monument to cast with life off the top, and offset alot of the "you lose 1 life and draw a card effects"

It would be good, but it's too expensive for me to recommend, similarly to Anointed Procession. But if you have one, I'd pair it with something that drains for you gaining life, like Vito, so each life gain trigger for you also drains your opponents.

Crowded Crypt is a reprint, not a new card. Also, it is SO good in aristocrat builds.

You're right. It was from a precon I didn't pickup (Wilhelt) and I didn't recognize it. If I were to tilt the deck to more sacrifice, draining death triggers, and that sort of thing, I'd run it.
