Some of the ways that AEW has hurt the business include: - No concussion protocol or drug testing. They will never know if wrestlers are using drugs to self medicate if they don't test them. They also routinely let you wrestle even if you have a concussion. - Inflated booking fees for talent on the indies. Low card talent that had been on AEW TV in some capacity started asking for a lot of money that most promoters couldn't afford. Before the House of Black, Julia Hart was asking for $3000 per booking. - They've had parasitic relationships with other companies. Their talent get to work in AAA, CMLL, and NJPW, but stars from those companies are booked to look like crap in AEW. They also end up signing away all the top names from those companies. It's a tactic Vince McMahon was criticized for, but they call it "taking advantage of free agents" when Tony Khan does it. - They fuel tribalism every chance they get. Tony's tactic has always been to talk trash bout everyone and play the victim when it comes back on him to embolden his fanbase and weaponize them.

Agreed on all points. And that third reason makes me think back to when TNA worked with AEW and it felt like TNA got the short end of the stick in that relationship.

I disagree that the second point hurts the business. More money for the wrestlers is never a bad thing. That’s like saying it’s bad that AEW exists because now Randy Orton can use it as leverage to get more money.

I was never really hooked by AEW in the same way as the majority of the IWC when they started. I'd been watching indie wrestling for years; and nothing about AEW was anything new to me. In fact, I was BIG into Progress in 2017, I was watching the Ospreays, Pete Dunnes, Sabre Jrs, Aleister Blacks, Noam Dars, Gunthers, Draganovs, Riddles of the world on a weekly basis, why the fuck would I care about the Young Bucks, Joey Ryan, Hangman or Dark Order (most of these guys I'd been watching for a decade by this point)? I did start watching when AEW got to TV, but only made it a few months, last show I watched was that PPV main evented by Ambrose vs Joey Janella. I don't think AEW has ever been any good, if I'm honest, but the thing that annoys me the most about it is the "hipster" attitude of it's fans who only started watching "indie/real wrestling" when it was endorsed by a (son of a) billionaire and given a TV deal.

AEW is definitely suffering from dealing with a post McMahon WWE. TK thought he could mostly skate on that. Also not having any real wrestling booking experience (sorry but fantasy booking don't count) and he refuses to have any real experienced people behind the helm. AEW isn't must see TV love WWE has been lately, too many nonsense titles and a bloated roster will continue to make that fed look amateur. The wrestlers who were on AEW in the beginning still aren't stars.

All the while TNA's 'Slow and Steady' is bringing them their largest show in over 10 years. To think in a year or 2 TNA TV Tapings could outdraw AEW TV Tapings (only their PPVs seem to draw crowds). AEW also loses money when they rent big venues but can't fill all the seats to justify the rent.

I dont understand where this expectation that every movement somebody makes has to be video-game motion-capture levels of perfect every time. Real life doesn't work that way...

I would say like NBA and WNBA - one draws millions and millions, the other is a clone with a lesser talent pool and, instead of being it's own unique thing, it seeks to compare itself as equal and now take from the NBA. It's not about politics. It's literally a business and needs to start being treated as such.

@@452syajowt WNBA is all women so the drawing appeal will be a little less in America just because of that! In the Arena League comparison, they used to focus on high scoring games with silly rules like how AEW wants just wrestling with no story!

@deyampert3738 But the main reason the females don't draw as much is because their lack of size, skill and athleticism compared to their counterparts. But to be fair, never watched arena football. I guess I could also compare WWE to NBA Playoffs whereas AEW is the All Star game and All Star dunk contest. All Star game has like no defense and everyone is letting each other stunt, and the dunks in the dunk contest always look cool because they are obviously allowed to do it.
