THANK YOU SIMON! Just saw the Wrestletalk review and the guys were mostly stating the obvious: Forbidden Door lacks story angles. Yeah, we get it. Forbidden Door is like an AEW/NJPW All Star Game. There's no lasting stories, because the story is that we're getting these ONE TIME matches. The result: 7 likes with 1200 viewers. Your review pointed out some critical points, but you understood what was going on. GREAT REVIEW.

I work 40+ hours a week and I keep up with Raw NXT dynamite TNA rampage smackdown and collision... This is this dickheads job to talk about wrestling and he can't keep up like wtf dude.?

I already didn't like him for sucking off the pipebomb that didn't change shit for 8years pretending like it was immediate. Like Nash wasn't texting himself 6 months later. Absolute E drone and I hate saying that cause I enjoy WWE but it's not the only game in town anymore. It's honestly too soap opera sometimes. That's why Jimmy and Jey at mania sucked sh.it directly out an as.shole. Through a straw like I'd put money Matt vs Nick Jackson would've been better at least by an in ring point. Matches may not "be the draw" but they are integral FOR A WRESTLING SHOW.

I was there live. The ppv itself felt special, with love going to all the NJP/ (example, like steph got way over vs mone). jericho shouldve been on pre-show and the lucha bros match or stat/willow on the ppv. I am stunned how jericho got fairly over by waving 'hi' when months earlier the crowd at Worlds' End completely crapped on him. we were there for a LONG time without any breaks in matches but the crowd held up decently, giving love to everyone and popping for big spots and loud chops. osprey/swerve was the most anticipated match, both guys were hugely over esp swerve. incredible psychology, having short burst- high intensity spots in the beginning and building to a fever pitch at the end. The crowd lost it during the last moments. screwdriver is something superheel swerve would do so its interesting to see swerve win clean, albeit taking advantage of a face who refuses to do evil. osprey absolutely elevated swerve, but osprey shouldn't be in a role where he routinely puts others over bc 'he's over even if he loses.' hell be fine if they put some gold on him and he can beat swerve down the line.

Good storytelling in this. Swerve has been questioning Will’s killer instinct. The screwdriver showed where Will is. Then after Swerve properly beating Will showed that he was more of a killer

I'll be honest (more than most)...i don't *allways* pay the fee for the PPV/PLE , as most of you don't either(😏)~ THAT SAID, i did buy this event thru KZbin. Good on you AEW, for creating mutiple avenues that one can by any sporting event. It was $50, and as the last two times, it was worth *every penny* .While we should pay for all the events that have a charge to them, i understand that its not feasable to buy them all in order.

I'm not the biggest AEW fan but I LOVED this show. Made me a fan of Stephanie Vaquer. I enjoyed an Orange Cassidy match for the first time ever and I was always a fan of Swerve but this show he felt like THE MAN. From the attire to the entrance to the quality of the match he now feels like the World Champ of that company.

I use the ppvs to hang out with friends or watch the cultaholic boys and cheat on my diet. I prefer longer ppvs tbh I would like a length between WWE, which are too short for me, and AEW, which are fine but 1-2 matches could be cut... and WWE needs to do something with their pre show

Im glad i watch the show... but i was pissed at KZbin for randomly showing me Bob Sapp KZbin vid reviewing the show AND SPOILING THE MAIN EVENT WITH HIS TITLE OF THE VID! Not saying i was actively looking for Forbidden Door vids, just why!? Why do wrestling journalists spoil the main event 1 HOUR after the show ends!? I hate watching journalists 😒

So much agree, I've unsubbed from so many channels to try to avoid this. This time it was this video that pretty much spoiled for me with the thumbnail, still had a little uncertainty but dang really hard to watch US time shows until a least a day after please don't do this, really considering if it's worth continuing engaging. I get it on twitter, you just have to avoid until you're up to date but youtube is hard to completely avoid.

I will say this was the most predictable AEW show. I do a predictions competiton online and usually AEW shows screw me in the rankings because so.many matches could go either way so often. But i clean swept this card.

Only part of this show that I didn't like was the match for the TBS Championship and NJPW Strong Women's Championship. Mercedes Mone has completely devalued the TBS Championship because she never wrestled a match before walking up to Willow Nightingale and pointing at the TBS Championship when Tony Khan has hypocritically stated that wins and losses matter. Tetsuya Naito shouldn't have been the one to dethrone Jon Moxley, Shota Umino should have been the one. Hopefully Switchblade Jay White wins the International Championship or Continental Championship soon, embarrassing how Jay White wasn't even on the Forbidden Door Card and now Tony Khan wants Switchblade Jay White and Bullet Club Gold to feud with Christian Cage and The Patriarchy.

My problem is this: why bother to have ofspray with an intercontinental title if he is going to immediately be facing swerve for the heavyweight title? If aew there are too many titles, but there are NO storyline for any of these belts. Briscoe & fletcher have roh belts, who is hunting for those titles? Bullet club have TWO six man belts, but there is no storyline. It looks like Tony khan just wants to decorate guys with titles for show. And also, you don't need the belt to be defended week in and week out, but wrestlers should be hunting and gunning for the titles.

Fletcher just lost his belt to CMLL wrestler Atlantis Jr and Christian Cage's family is gunning for the unified Trios Title. Garcia is gunning for Ospreay's international title, which will be on Wednesday. There are a ton of things going on if you're paying attention. Sure, there are a few things going on that are overlooked at times but AEW isn't the only company that does it.

@rikkubeans yes but christian "gunning" for the trios title consisted of them randomly walking up to the ringside after Jay white won his own hart cup eliminator match - it's weak and most angles are full of cheap heat post match beat downs by heels after a face wins the match overcoming a heel attempting to cheat unsuccessfully. The most creative thing they've done recently is when Mariah may got hit in the head with the champagne bottle. Give me and others a reason to want to watch every week with some unpredictability and then more people will tune in.

@@vlverm7096 Cheap heat post match beats downs - Literally the only thing the Bloodline has been doing every Friday. Also you just said nobody has been gunning for it, I give examples and yet now your tune has changed. So now it's not that the titles are meaningless, it's that the stories just aren't good enough. Jay White just did a verbal beatdown on Cage at Collision (it was funny and brutal). They can't compete with the WWE when it comes to drama because they have literal teams writing creative, so they're gonna give you great wrestling matches. The storylines are fine, but remember WWE has been through periods of horrible writing AND matches. Remember RAW Underground just a couple of years ago, not to mention Seth yanking out Ray's eye 🤣

@rikkubeans I haven't watched more than 5 minutes of wwe programming probably since Kofi got squashed by Brock Lesnar which was probably like 2017 or 2018 other than a few cody segments when he jumped ship a couple years back, and I really have no inclination to watching wwe again. For the first 3 years I ordered every aew ppv and was pumped for them - the high point being the debut of cole and Danielson at the end. It was exciting, unpredictable and grand when it needed to be. I went to grand slam in September and marked out like crazy when eddie beat Claudio. But Arthur ashe stadium was barely at 75% capacity and they were practically giving away tix for under 20 bucks - and that was Sept 2023. Point I want to make is I go to small promotion indy shows from time to time and enjoy them for what they are. And when I watch parts of dynamite I feel like I'm a higher budget production of that same type of indy show. If that's what Tony's going for, then that's good for him. The crowds aren't coming in and the hype has totally dissipated. He's starting to become formulaic like wwe in the mid to late teens. Now there are monthly ppvs, gimmick matches for the sake of gimmick matches and storylines that don't feel worth investing. I just miss being excited for wrestling on Wednesday night .

Not too overly saturated with promos and there's always one match that makes me want to keep watching. It's possible to like AEW but also not like some of the matches on the PPV. And the crowd would agree based on their reactions or lack thereof throughout the night. TK just needs to trim the fat. But overall, it was a solid show.

I don’t particularly love Cassidy’s pockets gimmick but I will admit it is fun sometimes and the 2v1 match was especially good. It’s still hard for me when he does it in serious matches tho, I feel it just breaks the immersion. Like why are we supposed to believe that all these serious wrestlers just decide to go along with it for the memes? Does Cassidy have powers? Honestly if they came out and said “yeah when he gains telepathic powers when he puts his hands in his pockets” I’d be like ok whatever, goofy wrestling for life. But rn as far as I know there’s no storyline reason for it other than “I guess he thought it was funny”

Forbidden Door was overall a good show but it was hindered by the usual problems of AEW. Way to long and a lot of matches that didn't need to be on the card. Most of the Zero Hour matches were fine, but skippable. They were just ways to get more people on the card. Mariah May winning was the right choice and I think sets up her winning the Owen and turning on Toni. MJF was completely wasted in his match, he's your biggest draw and you put him in a completely forgettable curtain jerker. He should have been having a match against someone like ZSJ over Pockets. Speaking of, actually surprised ZSJ won. Bryan Danielson vs Singo was the match of the night for me, Danielson continues to be the best performer in AEW. Not surprised the DoucheBucks won, Caster's rap was on point because it's true. Okada is now just Buck's personal bitch and bag holder, he's the new Brandon Culter. Toni Storm and Mina was an okay match but all people will remember was the story of Three-way HLA and the kiss. Which had Meltzer blow his load. But remember AEW women's wrestlers want to be taken seriously. Jack Perry won the ladder match to no one surprise, but everyone was behind Takeshita. Honestly, Takeshita vs Mark Briscoe would have been a better match. Jericho continues to piss away his legacy with this awful gimmick, HOOK and Joe winning was the right choice, but we know this feud isn't over. Stephanie Vaquer proved she was the real money, as she carried the spoiled botching Diva. But Mercedes Hogan has creative control and was going to throw a tantrum if she didn't win. No one should have 2 title belts after only 3 matches. The only saving grace was Britt Baker returns, and Mercedes either really is a good actress was legit pissed off her spotlight was stole. People think the Punk/Elite egos were bad, they haven't seen anything yet. Moxley dropping the title was the right choice. Swerve vs Ospreay was a good match, even if it got out of hand with the kick outs at the end. I honestly expected them to put the title on Ospreay with just how badly Swerve has been handled since being champion. I'm glad I was wrong but it does raise the question. Who is the "Wild Card"? Is it Hangman or is it Opsreay? Overall it's a 6/10 show.
