The fact of the matter is you obviously don’t understand what going out on your back means… Darby had the partner rub… there didn’t need to be a “last match” for that… but the fact is he was suppose to ( like taker should have ) made a career on the way out… not over the past three years.. you have this valuable tradition… it benefits the company’s and wrestlers coming up…. Sting as an overachiever had his career made by vets… he should have been dying to do that on the way out…. Kayfabe is dead all we have left is tradition… I don’t agree… it was a hot shot… a big bump for the company that doesn’t build onto anything… it didn’t move the needle for years like going out on your back as a legend would have for other guys on the roster

People talk so much mess about the Young Bucks and all they do is put people over. First it was putting over FTR then Sting, while also putting on great matches. It's crazy that the Bucks have so many classic matches in AEW Revolution vs Sting & Darby, Revolution vs Hangman and Kenny Dynamite vs FTR Multiple classics vs Lucha Bros with All Out Cage match being my favorite.

I'd kind of fallen off following AEW the last few months, then recently heard Cornette shittalking them and decided to check out the product because he's usually wrong and I am SOOOOO glad I did. Never watched too much Sting back in the day (didn't have cable or access to WCW), but loved his AEW run, and felt and cried along with you all last night. I was flipping out at those no sells also. Seeing the respect the promotion and crowd put on his name and retirement, it was all beautiful.

Yeah, I don't listen to Cornette much anymore because of his obvious anti-AEW, pro-WWE biases (he DOES criticize both, but he particularly goes hard against AEW while going easy on WWE), and like you I'm glad I didn't listen to him because I've thoroughly enjoyed AEW so far. Has it been perfect? Of course not, but it's really scratched an itch that hasn't been scratched in a long time. It has technical matches, gritty matches, hardcore matches, anything a wrestling fan would want to see. Now if they would finally put the title on Swerve...👍

Look at how WWE treated Kurt Angle.. heck, look at how they treated Sting at Wrestlemania 31. Now, compare that to Sting's three year AEW run and the massive finale that AEW gave him. The Young Bucks, as heels, were elevated just by being the bad guys here and taking the loss. Darby Allen was elevated by being Sting's partner.

You're right. Wardlow needs his. But Swerve needs his and Samoa Joe needed a longer title reign so I'm glad he won. It's so many hot stars right now. Whoever wrote that ending for the Joe, Swerve,Page match is a brilliant writer. What way to save all 3 superstars and keep momentum on swerve while making Hangman look like even more of a villain and then keep Samoa Joe hot and having him still be one of the greatest.

it might be too soon but fatal 4 way with joe, wardlow, swerve, and page could just be one incredible match. maybe if joe holds through another ppv they roll with that as a ppv main event. maybe also add 2nd fall takes all type of ending. so it would take 2 pins/submissions in that fatal 4 way. that would be something kind of new and interesting.

@SimonMillerYT you touched on "WWE should have lent WCW footage".... I'll say it from a different standpoint.... not just for Sting, but for the fans... They could have forced the stipulation, "footage provided by WWE or TKO" This is like the ONE chance they had to work together for the past, present, future of the industry in honoring an absolute icon of the sport. People forget that he's really the last of the old guard before you break into the guys that hit it bigger a bit later.

Would've been nice to see some joker sting in there too but I get it, there's copyright issues there probably. I also thought he was gonna come from the rafters but he didn't need to really. I got a bit emotional watching the whole thing. Sting is the reason I got into wrestling. You remember those WCW figures where they came with their personalised lockers? it’s set up perfectly if wardlow wins the title we can build up a solid short reign where either the undisputed kingdom turns on him and he’ll adam cole become the world champ or mjf returns and gets his win back against wardlow where he outsmarts the undisputed kingdom and that starts the show the cracks in the stable 🤷🏽‍♂️

It's crazy that the 2 best matches in the PPV was an official signed debut and a legend's last ever match. I do see Fletcher and Ospreay betraying Callis when Mark Davis returns, which should be soon since he wrestled a match during Jericho's cruise.
@xenogrug
@xenogrug 5 ай бұрын
Purely speculation, but I think the title scene story has already been written - Wardlow wins the belt from Samoa Joe.... Then he is faced with having to give it to Adam Cole. Cole Inevitably gets the belt (either by defeating Wardlow or Wardlow giving it to him) MJF returns to take on his former best friend in a new feud to try and get the title back, with Wardlow involved there too given his ties to Maxwell. Wardlow could somehow be the beneficiary of the MJF/Cole feud, setting him up for a 2nd title run that is only around for a while until Jericho causes him to lose it to Swerve? Meanwhile Swerve and Hangman are going through War 4, with Swerve coming out the victor to get that title shot. I think Osprey will be feuding with the Don Callais family to get out and then possibly the bastad Pac for a bit. Winner of that challenging Roddy Strong to the international Title... And thats just the men!! You have to imagine that Mariah will turn on Toni eventually after she gets fed up by Lufer and Toni treating her like crap (or she tried to be Toni better than Toni lol) Queue Brit Baker back and Mercedes in the mix. AEW is heatin up!

if it were me i'd have joe hold it through the next ppv. then have him drop it finally to wardlow sometime after that. let wardlow roll with it til cole is healthy again and ready to go then he can give it up to cole. cole can drop it back to mjf when he gets back. setup a fatal 4 way cole, wardlow, mjf, and a new mjf buddy to even the odds....maybe osprey? might be a way to get him into the title picture quick. in that scenario wardlow could win and not give up the title, or then osprey could get a quick early reign with all the others gunning for him too. lot you could do with that to add some chaos into the title picture. title picture is always a bit more interesting when you get 3 or 4 people trying to take it at the same time. kind of like the old attitude days when you had rock, stone cold, hhh, jericho, dropping the title to each other and screwing each other over constantly. aew could replicate that kind of chaos i'm sure with their roster and make it very interesting.

You can't "pass your star power onto the guy who pinned you", that's not how wrestling works in a world without territories, weekly television wrestling has killed that concept. AEW is like going to do something by the shore, but it's determined by high tides and low tides. Just when you're enjoying yourself, the tides change drastically. Or visaversa.

When I was a little kid, shortly before the nWo, wrestling fans would say, "WCW is terrible. WWF is much better." "Yeah, but Sting is amazing. I wish he was in WWF." "Yeah. Sting is cool."

Really was a great show, if anyone deserved to win on the way out it was Stiiiing. The Takeshita \ Osprey match was awesome, glad Joe retained in that specific type of match, Wardlow is looking good and Darby is.... Well I don't even know what to say about Darby other than "DAMN." Thank You Sting. 😄👍

The AEW title match, Ospreay vs Takeshita and Sting's retirement match were about the most predictable matches I've seen in AEW. Sting was never losing, Ospreay was obviously going to win his first match as an AEW wrestler and Joe was obviously going to beat Hangnail because he didn't even deserve to be in the match.

@@bennwardhaugh3013 Cornette makes a living out of people that just wants to hear someone talking shit about modern wrestling and AEW in particular, so it's not like he is exactly objective either. I'd say that the truth is usually somewhere in between his angry boomer "everything new sucks, back in my days..." takes and the ludicrous star ratings of Meltzer who judges matches by the number of moves crammed into the shortest time possible.

@@ROMANTIKILLER2 But he doesn't shit on modern wrestling considering there's a bunch of current wrestlers who he really enjoys. What he shits on is constant no selling, assisted gymnastic routines and wrestlers looking like kids rather than men. Just because what he doesn't like is the majority of what happens in AEW isn't his problem, nor is it mine.
