Been off caffeine for 4 months. Great decision, my energy is much more rounded and consistent. I feel more mentally whole, less nervous, been saving money from all the energy drinks and coffee, and I rest much better from sleep. I don't plan on going back; I love these benefits.

I myself was defensive for decades about my caffeine consumption. Realizing I display the classic behavioural cycle of an addict really opened my eyes. It's scary how addictive this stuff is, how hard it can be to quit.

I gave up caffeine 2/3 months ago. It’s definitely the right decision, however I still crave it sometimes. I’ve noticed this craving is strongest after a day of drinking, when I haven’t slept well and I’m feeling low. This Christmas period was especially hard because I drank a lot. I’ve had three days in a row of caffeine. So I made the decision to quit both. Looking forward to a clear head and natural energy again soon.

After drinking you are low so you need stiulants to fight the depression, which then just gets you dependent on a stimulant, which when you quit, will lead to depression again. So, it is a good idea to get both out of the system.

lol i was going to say coffee is much healthier than alcohol. you quit the wrong thing. Its best to quit both. i quit alcohol 2 years ago, coffee + sugar about 14 days now. I feel insanly good...lot of energy. i wake up daily at 5 am. gym. i look extreamly healthy and like 10 years younger.

On day 29 of no caffeine. Watching this video as motivation to help me get out of bed; and I think I realized that: getting out of bed isn't hard. I just thought it was because I still behave as if I need 6 cups of coffee to wake up like 31 days ago. In short: getting out of bed is easier than we think it is on a caffeine-free lifestyle.

I was complaining to my doctor about my side effects from caffeine, which seemed unusual to me, not to mention my bad sleep habit. She said that some people are slow metabolizers of caffeine. That caffeine could take several weeks to completely disappear from your body. Three quarters of a Diet Coke is safe for me providing I don't consume it after 1 pm. I have started drinking 1 cup of decaf coffee with lots of 1% milk in the morning also. I also have to be careful with chocolate, sticking to milk chocolate if any at all, with the same rules about what time of day to consume it.

Thank you for making this video. I will try quitting for one week and see what happens. This will be my second time quitting. On day 14 last time I went back. I just felt tired, two weeks straight, just felt tired. But I am down to 20 ounces of coffee a day. So maybe this time when I do stop. Maybe I will do better. Because I usually have 3 cups of coffee per day. Never more than that.

Try 2 bags of Green Tea, it's much better. It has between 25-50mg of caffeine each and is more relaxing. Give it 3-4 days after and you'll feel better and have more natural energy.

i agree with u mate 100 %. Its a drug that affects ur mind and body with shitty side affects. We shouldnt drink it daily i reckon but drink it slectively sometimes for the taste etc. I knew a guy once who drank one cup every morning but thats where he drew the line. no more. most people dont have that control. For eg i havent quit alcohol but i drink it 2 or 3 times a month, thats called control. we all need control. dont eat a piece of cake daily but have it sometimes for sure. i dont believe in quitting something completely.

16 years about 12-16 oz of coffee every morning. Stopped three days ago and feels lethargic, slight headache, sleepy, hard to focus, constipation. As a runner and cyclist I can’t believe how tired I feel working out. But will just push through. I’m 57 and very active. I’m drinking herbal tea to help. Note, 2nd day I went swimming and literally could not get my heart rate up and my splits were crazy slow. So like you I just packed it up and went home

@YousefBenhamida Жыл бұрын
@@BookClubDisaster I quit, then after this video went back on for a couple months, only to get hooked again, and then I stopped again, and it's been a couple months or so. You have to get over the mentally challenging things, but the addiction, to say 3-4 cups or 300-350mg of caffeine a day, was making me unhappy. So much so that I dealt with it again. The hardest part is trying to redo all of the exercise and everything because it's mentally harder. I could only run 1.5 miles the first day because my mind was so tired, so I had to lay in bed. The next day you can go 3 miles, the next day 5 miles, multiple intense workouts, etc...If you stick with it is worth it. I figured out that caffeine also acts as a pain killer to help endurance, which was masking the fact that I needed to go to a lot of yoga, get a massage, and take care of my body. I think that is why perhaps a lot of people get injured with sports potentially. They can take lots of caffeine to mask pain because of items that are untended too. Yoga really helps, but doing yoga in a lot of caffeine is not as pleasurable as doing it without caffeine. Let's see how long it goes this time around. I have noticed people like the vibe of a non caffeinated person better in my opinion. Oh, a pretty nice benefit is that, without any alcohol and caffeine in my body, and a regular exercise, etc...I have literally no anxiety or anxiousness anymore :)
@steelyburt
@steelyburt Жыл бұрын
Allen Carrs book on alcohol is not accurate. It states that people drink only to feel like non-drinkers feel all the time. That is clearly not the case (There are a lot of helpful perspectives in the book though). However, I do believe that logic is applicable for caffeine and even more so for smoking.

It's not that people aren't as tough as you. It's that most people aren't privileged enough to be disfunctional in the way you described. They may have children or f Depend on a attending a job financially, they can't spend almost 4 days lounging around or sleeping! Weaning down is harder, takes much more discipline but allows you to remain functional throughout the process.
@BB-rs2ib

So taking the time to care for yourself is now privileged? Lol the woke madness never ends!
@serenitygoodwyn
@serenitygoodwyn Жыл бұрын
@@BB-rs2ib I am not woke. I am definitely not woke. In fact I'm more often accuse of being right wing, I'm not that either. But he literally stated that he couldn't do anything or hardly get out of bed for a week. How do you suggest a single mum with young children and no family support (not an uncommon scenario) and a job does that? Now my answer would be she would need to taper so that the withdrawals remain at a manageable level. It's often more difficult to do, taking grater discipline to do this than go cold turkey. And with the added stresses of being single mum with no support and a job she would have to be much tougher than him to do that. What I'm objecting to is the idiotic idea that everyone has the ability to become totally dysfunctional for a week, and doing so somehow makes you tough, it doesn't! Meeting your duties as an employee, parent, member of society, whilst finding a way even if more difficult to look after yourself does!
