Defensively we were woeful...conceding so much time and space, rarely closing down space on players, backtracking deep in our halves, allowing Japan all the time in the world to get their strikes away. Loved the fight we put up in the second half.. We never gave up..pressed aggressively, won balls and played a good brand attacking football. That was so heartening to see from them. Excited to see how they develop from here on. Loads of work still to be done.

Some of the Indian fans who only watch the team highlights can be the worst. India was playing against Japan, which has a strong junior league system and is one of the top teams in Asia. On the other hand, India doesn't even have a league yet, but it's in the process of establishing one and is growing rapidly. The first half of the game showed a lack of confidence, not a lack of talent, which was evident in the second half when India scored four goals. Yes, i am sad about the 8 goals but the 4 goals tell me the team has something special. For cricket fans who randomly tune in to watch football, imagine India playing against Congo (Africa), and Congo taking several wickets and having strong partnerships even though they lost. This is a positive sign for the future of Indian football. Congratulations to the blue Colts - I believe if India had played aggressively from the beginning, we would have still lost but by a smaller margin. Nonetheless, it was praiseworthy. Our goalkeeping is not the problem what are u on about? The shots by the Japanese players were really clinical. The only problem we conceded 8 goals is because of the defence, u can clearly see in the match that how much space the Japanese players had for a strike.
