One of the families affected said the source of the fire was three bombs that went off in an apartment as an act of revenge. The manager had kicked out the tenants for drug dealing and they retaliated by setting off bombs around 2 am on New Year’s Day. Strategically timing the bombs for maximum damage. The manager said there’s nothing that could be done for the displaced tenants and told them to hire a lawyer. The impacted family we know has three small children. They are currently trying to find a new apartment and don’t expect any follow up or recompense for everything they have lost. Shocking to see this level of violence and loss being processed as everyday life for a poor family in our wealthy city of Austin.
