It's open source 😱😱 I wasn't expecting that.. more and more productivity apps should be open source and 'privacy respecting'

Another day, another app! I'm glad Francesco is keeping track of things for us because it's too much for any normal mortal.

I'm a solo, freelance 3D animator. I've been looking for a good tool to be able to have a more interactive, visually helpful way of sharing projects between myself and my clients without simply inviting them to my clickup. I've long used Miro for this, but it has definitely felt more restrictive as far as communicating a project's stage of completion alongside the visual elements. This just might solve that problem for me in being able to have both quality info, and mood/story boarding in one place for them. Thanks for bringing light to this.

AFFiNE has integrated linear document editing and whiteboard functionalities, allowing you to seamlessly switch your document content to a whiteboard with just one click. Additionally, the whiteboard can accommodate any other elements you desire. Version 0.12.0 also supports previewing Figma links!

I put a comment ages ago asking for more open source stuff. And you've done 2 in close succession. Superlist and this. Honestly really cool! Keep it up!

Have you seen 'AnyType'. An open source Notion like App.

Wow! Actually really liking the setup of this app. Cant wait to see how people use it. Love how simple it is.

Thanks for introducing the tool. would be really curious about the comparisons among those visual note taking apps including affine , scrintal, and heptabase.

Yes, you can present frames in Miro as a presentation

YESSS finally a company that gets it. make this automatable i.e. make the colors infer themselves from note types, templates etc. and you have me and many more people as a customer!

I’m so shocked a notion and Miro baby hasn’t already been born. I’m far from a developer, however it would seem the market would be flooded filling the gap where Notion is slacking white board, tasks & calendar (better) etc. I think Affine is on to something huge here by filling this gap

I'd be interested in what you think of Siyuan. I just discovered it and it feels like a better obisidian. It's chinese so not very well known in the space but seems to have a lot of potential.

The presentation part that you like a lot is great...but i can get that in PowerPoint if i'm on MS 365. If it could eventually export a presentation to PP and/or PDF then that would be great.

I don't get the self-hosting option, I'm running Affine, Redis and Postgres according to their instructions... but still need to sign into their cloud?
@MeOrNotMeWhoKnows15 күн бұрын
Did you figure out the self-hosting option? I'm trying to find an open-source productivity app similar to Notion, and just learned about Affine. Installed it today, and so far it feels really sketchy. Marketed as "privacy-focused", yet they've got telemetry enabled by default. 😯 And the AI feature, and download updates automatically.. I mean, switching from Evernote to Joplin felt good - no accounts to log in into anything, no telemetry, easy to self-host using a Docker container. Paid cloud sync is just one of the options in the Synchronization tab there. But this Affine app doesn't feel "privacy-focused" at all, at least at the first glance. Did you have a chance to use it and run it self-hosted?

Yeah folks don’t get too excited. It’s incredibly buggy and unreliable. Have been trying to use it for a while but half the board functions just stop working randomly with elements disappearing out of the blue.

@busimo9 ай бұрын
Notion can easily add that feature and kill this app entirely. Too buggy. Can't add stickers that you create on edgeless into page. Thought it was supposed to connect one part to another.
@Software-sb1gx9 ай бұрын
yeah that's why notion did it already right? (sarcasm) if they did I would probably stay with notion but it's not that easy.
@busimo9 ай бұрын
@@Software-sb1gx I bet you ain't moving to this from notion. Sure it got one feature that's cool but it got so many bugs you're better off using FigJam or Miro and embedding onto Notion page. You do know that Notion allows to connect to other pages right? All they have to do is allow a new page to be a infinite scroll canvas and give users to connect to whatever page it wants to. But Miro and FigJam have vast array of templates, it's just better for them to allow users to embed. So yeah, they can easily add if they want to, they probably will in the future.

Your videos are good, but the huge cursor is very distracting and doesn't look great. Can you lower the size to something more natural for your future videos? Just a suggestion.
