Affinity Designer Tutorial: Banner with Text

Clear & concise instructions without unnecessary chit chats, perfect amount of explanation of each process - I hope to see many more of your tutorials, especially for Affinity. It would be invaluable if you can take the lessons from Affinity's own videos & "translate" them for us. I have yet to understand a single one of their video tutorials, even with repeated watch.

Nick, thanks for all the videos. Curious how are you liking Affinity Designer? I have been using Inkscape and learned it from watching you. Just curious and taking advantage of the free 90 trial. I think having CYMK option is one of the bigger reasons. Thanks

I just jumped from Adobe to Affinity and have to say it pretty nice, I’m still trying to learn it but there definitely more pros then cons about Affinity compared to Adobe, especially if you like to switch between your computer to iPad. My advice is take advantage of the 1/2 deal while it’s available, even at full price it’s a fantastic deal! I snatched all 3 to be able to use the link (or whatever it’s called) function and switch between apps with a single click!

@@SouthbayCreations Thanks. Yeah I won't ever be using Adobe because of the subscription cost. I want to get Affinity for the 50% off but even full price is better than Adobe. I am sure with any program it has its quirks and just need to learn the work flow to get things done.

I'm really excited about Affinity Designer, but there are some crucial features missing (path effects like perspective, bending paths, text warping, etc.) that make it feel incomplete. Designer would be great for simple design work, but I don't think it would work for the sort of detailed logo design that I've been doing with Inkscape for the past decade. I hope that changes though because I REALLY like the UI, the functionality, and the stability of Affinity Designer. It's a refreshing change of pace from Inkscape.

Great video Nick! I’m still learning Affinity and wondering if your courses use Affinity or some other program? I’m really interested to learn more and like your teaching style but want to stick with Affinity

I don't have any courses about Affinity right now. The Logo Design Academy doesn't require any software. It's based exclusively on design principles, so you can use Affinity (or any application) to follow along.

@@DesignMadeSimple I’m probably going to hold off one more month before I dump Adobe so I can get a little more fluent with Affinity. I was really hoping to hit that cancel button today as tomorrow it will automatically renew, but those are some key features that are missing but maybe I can find a work around and get by without them.
