This single tutorial has taught me more about using Affinity than half a dozen others. I'm new to the app, and have ordered Affinity's workbook, but Ivan's clear instructions here (and his lovely LUTs, downloaded and installed) have already radically improved my understanding and application of LUTs -- which I had shied away from (even in video). Well worth watching, pausing, experimenting, and re-watching! *****

Thank you, Mr. Weiss, for another wonderful session. After watching your other session ("Colour grading for dramatic portraiture in Affinity Photo") a few months ago, I was amazed at such creativity not only in portraiture, but in how Affinity's tools can be used effectively. You can't find that stuff in a book, but only by listening to a teacher's spoken words and their nuances. Gold standard, for sure. 😊 The LUTs here are great starting points, and I can't wait to see how to add other adjustments, etc. to finish the desired look. Is it correct that these LUTs, which are based on your studio headshots, are best suited for similar indoor portraits (controlled light on the subject and a plain background)? I have taken some outdoor portraits with a plain, out of focus background, and some of the LUTS produced very nice results with just a few adjustments. Thank you again for sharing your expertise.

Affinity updated a few weeks ago and will no longer recognise your top 9 pack that worked fine last year. Any ideas?
@myrealgreece5579 ай бұрын
Ι bought the Top 9 LUT pack, I have in mind the promotion image of the portrait of the woman with closed eyes. I thought for sure that they are ready-made presets with geometric compositions that alternate with colors. On the contrary, as soon as I bought the add-ons I found out that these are only LUTS that have to do with color grading. Also for those of us who are not professionals who know Affinity photo and have the version for iPad V2, you must also make a corresponding video for use on the iPad. Unfortunately most of the videos are for the desktop version something unacceptable for Affinity photo since in this way it does not help iPad owners as we all know that using it is quite complex and difficult. As a user of Lightroom for iPad, the specific color grading are very nice but does not offer me anything new, so it would be good, for example, to make a KZbin video for iPad that shows step by step the process to complete the photo with the portrait photo of the girl I mentioned above. Best regards Antoine Enporia

I ordered this in affinity marketplace using Photo v2 on Windows and did an auto install. Where are the LUTs installed? Documentation on marketplace items is severely lacking and this isn't the first one I've had issues with. The documentation makes it seem like you never have to load a file or browse directories but tells you nothing about how this is done on a LUT adjustment layer. Clicking import opens a default folder in My Documents folder which does not contain any LUTs. I tried both C:\Program Files\Affinity\* and AppData directories to no avail. Would appreciate any help and updating of documentation on purchased items.

Hi tagwolf, did you use the content sync on the Account page inside Affinity Photo 2? You can download all of your store content directly from there and it installs it automatically. To see / use the LUTs expose the adjustments panel (Window > Adjustment) then click LUT and then clicking on Default allows you to choose from a dropdown menu from your installed LUTs. We will look at the documentation as well, to see if it needs updating, thanks for bringing that to our attention. Hope this helps!
@rowenhusky Жыл бұрын
@@Affinity THANK YOU! Content sync was on but nowhere did any documentation say to goto Windows > Adjustments. Hi Ivan, why are these images have such a strange and somewhat drab colour scheme? Is this wanted?' In addition, I don't see any difference when you apply the LUT. How about a LUT with a blue tone for the shadows and an orange/gold tone for the highlights? One final question, why are you using Affinity and not LR and/or PS?
@IvanWeiss-london3 жыл бұрын
Hi Desmond. The images look the way I want them to based on my tastes. Your tastes may differ. If you don't see a difference when applying the LUTs, check that you have the layer enabled. I could create LUTs with any combination of colours, but I have chosen to base them on my work. There are plenty of blue/orange LUTs available elsewhere. I use Affinity because it fits my requirements better.
