We’re basically just trying to tell the story..right. Character, uniqueness, individuality over beauty is a story. Great work.

Got my first portrait shoots on the model-side of the lens this week, this video made me more excited. INTERESTING is more important than me looking beautiful.

The best part for me was "Maybe a 'great picture' is not the goal." You inspired me to re-evaluate what my goal is when taking pictures. Thank you so much for that inspiration. Your deep and intelligent thoughts go far beyond what you normally find in KZbin.

Well said. I feel the same way. Interesting people make for wonderful subjects. Many of our most famous actors are not the most attractive but create an emotion in us that is meaningful.

I'm wondering if a photographer had a cartoon-like frame or two depicting the image "gap" concept in a thought-provoking humorous way may be a good conversation starter. Or maybe an interaction between Abbott and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, or some characters suitable for the Photographer's geography might be an ice-breaker.

As a photographer I can tell you from experience that photographing someone who is not beautiful is not as rewarding as photographing someone beautiful. Keep in mind that beauty is a perception.
@LaurentFabry
@LaurentFabry Жыл бұрын
then what's your meaning of rewarding ? i suppose you should be more specific : money kind of reward, public reconnaissance, or self estime as a photographer ?
@emendoz1
@emendoz1 Жыл бұрын
I think I mentioned it in my comment. From my experience as a photographer for many decades in fashion and in Hollywood with actors and actresses I personally am more rewarded when I photograph beautiful people versus not so beautiful people. That's not to say that sometimes you come across a hideous person who photographs badly but has a great personality. @@LaurentFabry
