Anyone who has been around as long as James Ritson has been at Serif is a good friend of mine, who is wholly appreciated of such talent and know how along with surreal presentations. Thank You Mr. James Ritson for sharing so very, very, very much of your knowledge and wisdom with us.

As a beginner to astrophotography I had found it quite difficuilt to not only find tools but translate the jargon. I looked at the usual tools but had to take a deep breath at the stupid cost of Photoshop . Caught by chance an article in Astronomy magazine on using Affinity then discovered it is priced at a sensible and affordable level for non photo-pros. I have taken some of my pictures of the moon and used these to get used to the interface but found I had no concept of the workflow disipline needed, this vid has solved that problem. I think I have still put 10-12 hours over a week using this vid to learn the workflow and use the tools. Still dont get half the jargon though but this is a great vid. The only time I became agitated was when the word "unpleasant" was used and feared a photo of my ex wife would appear.

I have a question, you said not to use the cameras white balance, but my camera (Canon EOS R) allows me to customize my white balance. I can change the warmth and go all the way to changing the entire color used to tint with. What color would you suggest I use since modding is not necessary for my camera?

Thank you so much for this. Just produced my first image of Jupiter using a lot of these techniques (even though you were demonstrating deep sky photography). I got a really good image (for a first ever attempt) from what started out as something of a colourless blurry blob! It’s recognisably Jupiter (and actually quite decent I think). Thank you.

James, thanks! Great video. I've been hoping that you might do a video on Astro photography in AP as I too have been wrestling with Deep Sky Stacker (DSS) and found the import of LRGB monochrome files into AP quite tricky although, I have seen your video on Channel Packing and this helps a lot. Are there plans in AP to simplify the process of importing four LRGB monos into an integrated sRGB file at all?

He likes to test out new stuff early. Maybe you didn't pick up on the geek factor he was emanating throughout the video? If you have a license you can do the same thing by downloading whatever the next Beta is from the Affinity forums.
@JamesRitson4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gerardo, Jeff is correct-I like to geek out and use the latest betas. In this case, however, the beta is the same as release, but because I do demos to corporate clients and tutorials I will always "reset" the release build to its default settings. The beta has separate settings, so that's the version I use for my own workflows and editing-it has the workspace set up the way I like it, along with my custom shortcuts and macros!
