This was such a bad change. Flame caps have been used in every expansion since tbc, they are even used in retail dragonflight 15 years later. 17? If they wanted to control the crazy pricing, they could have just increased the drop rate/decreased the rarity. not change something that's had one of the longest running histories of use in the game.

Excellent guide. Happy to see they didn't change anything with affliction, it's fun to play, keeps you engaged with what's happening in the fight and always top 5 on DPS meter. I do recall, it was better to play Destro when you started raiding through T7 and T8 sets and changed to Affliction when you got T8.5 gear set. Destro had higher DPS at the lower Tier sets, but at the higher Tier sets Destro could just not reach the same numbers Affliction did in Boss fights.

So many subtlr things but i recently swapped to affli from demo and here are some of my mistakes u can look out for. Clipping UA, not having haunt on (its ok to clip haunt, must be up), refreshing dots during execute phase when they wont get full duration, causing me to miss drain ticks. Also reapply corruption less than 35% hp on target.

I don't always use it for all bosses, however, and there's a ten minute cooldown anyway, so sometimes it's not up.

​@@Nyquist_TX Yeah, true. It's a lot more fun to play though. I mean, all I was doing was spamming shadow bolt and dooming/using infernal/using agony if I couldn't get a doom off in time in TBC. I was shadow the whole expansion. It led to easy high parses, but you definitely have to work for them more as affliction and there's more to think about. I enjoyed demo as well in P1 in Wrath, but I've been affliction for a while now and I'm becoming more comfortable with it.

Corruption doesn't snapshot external dmg % modifiers such as Haunt and Ebon Plaguebringer/E&M/CoE (debuffs on the target). Corruption will snap internal dmg % modifiers or buffs affecting you (deaths embrace, iron council rune, etc. ) Also, in drain phase you should really emphasize the importance of never letting Haunt completely fall off since Haunt is primarily the only thing keeping your Shadow Embrace at 3 stacks unless you had an opportunity to use Nightfall. Double also, when to clip drain is really important when refreshing dots or recasting drain to snapshot a procs.

I feel that there are way to few Affliction Warlocks even tho they are a top of the line DPS spec. Warlocks as a whole seem way less played than druids for example. When I join a pug on Golemagg EU there is rarely more than 1 lock, if any at all.

I've been messing around with a bit of a meme warlock build. I get both corruption glyphs and I also get nightfall. Then I spec into destro to get 100% crit damage. Then I basically can spam corruption and SB on targets constantly. It's kinda fun not being forced to cast that much.

I'm currently solo and have done the affliction build. As a solo, I do the rotations that you do in the single target rotation and I intend to use VW to aggro that one target but then when I use Haunt after the VW does 1 to 2 ticks of damage, the boss mob then targets me instead because I used haunt. This is all in the overworld, the mobs I can handle as I walk around and do Agony + corruption and then dot another mob, life tap for mana and use sacrifice from VW when my hp is low to get my regen. Any tips?

curse of elements is a debuff on the boss, not a buff on the player. So it doesn't matter for snapshotting corruption. You could apply CoE after you apply corruption and you'll still get the % dmg increase

With the Snapshot, the game will snapshot your corruption, but due to Everlasting Affliction the Spell boost is lost as soon as it resets the corruption back to the basic corruption with the spell boost not applied. So for example if you have 2 Trinkets giving a spell power boost such as Sundial of the Exiled with 590 spell power proc for 10 seconds, and Dying Curse with 765 spell power proc for 10 seconds, lets say Sundial procs and gives a 590 spell power boost and 5 seconds later Dying procs that gives 756 spell power boost, you will get a spell power boost of 590 + 765 giving 1355 spell power, 5 seconds later Sundial proc falls off, when your next Shadowbolt hits you will lose the Sundial 590 spell power boost as a new Corruption has been applied, but this Corruption only has the 765 Spell Power boost from Dying Curse, when the proc from Dying Curse falls off, the next Shadowbolt you cast will apply a new corruption but this 1 will have no benefits as you have no current procs running, if you were just to leave the Corruption proc it would keep rolling for the rest of it's duration with the extra spell power so long as you never casted Corruption. So the addon you have tells you if you will lose Spell Power on the Corruption if you refresh it, and it still says it after you cast a Shadowbolt - then it's broken and not working as the Shadowbolt would have refreshed the Corruption with the spell power loss. It also works the other way where if you have a trinket proc a spell power boost, the next Shadowbolt will apply a fresh Corruption with the extra Spell Power.

You knew that I finished leveling my warlock 2 days ago and searched for your affliction raid talent spec guide....didn't you? Sorry other guys...but your guides just weren't this. One small note for everyone. Hit food is kinda BIS, as compared to using hit gems. The ratio for the hit food [aka 40hit vs 46 spellpower] is over 86%. vs gems [16 vs 19] which is 84%, with orange gems being even worse [as they give only 18 spellpower+ 16 hit over 2 gems]. This means, in an ideal situation, which will be hard to accomplish for sure, that you are better off using 40 hit food to hit cap, than using gems to hit cap. If you are able to use 16 hit gems in yellow slots[and to a lesser degree orange spellpower/hit gem], and 40 hit food to exactly hit cap, then you are doing it right...and very sweaty. I am not sure where the line falls on, scrap all that and just use the talent to get more hit and scrap the food. Yeah I main rogue if you hadn't already guessed....XD
