My 8300 has been great so far. The build quality seems as good as any other amps I’ve owned (Marantz, NAD, Denon, Yamaha, etc). I’ve never heard the fans run once, but my equipment is in a rack outside my theatre. I’m running my Denon x3800 as a pre/pro and it still gets hot enough for the AC infinity on top of it to kick into high gear every 15 minutes, those babies run hot.

Thanks Barret! Yeah it's been in the rack almost a week now and it's been great and doing what an amp should. I was a little sad taking out the 7300s but honestly the 8300 sounds just as good. I've also had the Crowsons in for a few weeks now but need to modify how I installed them some but they are very nice. I got 4 so it's pretty spread out over the 4 seats. We watched the first Indiana Jones last weekend with the kids...Lots of fun and the crowsons shined. We plan to watch the 2nd one this weekend.

I would love to see a video of someone converting a wireless speaker (a wireless Klipsch speaker to be exact) into a wired speaker with terminals. This is something popping up in forums left and right because many are finding nice Klipsch wireless speakers that have no wireless base. I saw the big 5.1 with the dual 8" woofer towers on Marketplacet that started out at $1200 but over a few months dropped to $300 before it was purchased. I'm sure there are many out there that would like to see someone make a video of converting them to wired.

I've been thinking of adding an amp as a 1st step to separates using my Denon AVR X4700H as a processor. First thinking of a 3 or 7 channel, and am/was? seriously considering the Emotive until I heard about this...just over $400 cheaper and more power per channel. Since I have a 7.2.2 system (until I get rear heights) I can use all the channels and still bi-amp my front speakers (Klipsch RP600Mii). With the Denon having 9 amps it switches between 5.1 plus front height or 7.1 without, depending on the movie/cable channel.

I'll say many Denon's need external fans. The only AVR's I've ever had that will have the thermal protection activate (X3700H). It would get crazy hot. Fan on top finally fixed it. But I guess adding an external amp would as well! 😁
@hometheatergurus

Ive had many avrs over 30 years ... Damn that makes me sound old.. Ha. Never had any external ventilation. I always make sure they heat can escape. My oldest currently is 22 years old and it was on 24/7 for half of its life and never tuned off. 🤷 Just because it's hot/warm doesn't mean it needs help. If you're giving it room to vent the manufacturer has taken care of the ventilation needed. Of course it doesn't hurt at all to add extra.

You will still need a receiver capable of processing 11 channels or 13/15 if you want to add more speakers like wides or 6 atmos. However what you can do if you have this amp is move into the world of separates -- that means you get AVs that only do processing and no amplification

I'm a huge fan of Anthem and ARC but D/M are good as well. They even have Dirac upgradability now which is really good but still lacks a measurement function like quick measure which is a deal breaker for me unless you know how to use something like REW to actually see what's going on after room correction. You really can't go wrong with either though as long as you understand how to manipulate their room correction.

I agree. They're hitting a price point that lets guys get into separates that may not be able to otherwise. The next competitor is the XPA 11 channel but it's only pushing maybe 50w with all non LCR channels driven so it's not really competing and it cost a good chunk more. This is a really well built amp and I still think the 7300 is one of the best amps I've seen even at 3x the cost as far as the build and aesthetics. I know amps aren't meant to look good but damn that is a beauty.

@hometheatergurus
@hometheatergurus Жыл бұрын
This is something I really wish I had covered. This is copy and past from an earlier comment that I answered. No.. They aren't getting double the power. They are being pushed to whatever level you choose which takes x amount of power to hit x level at x distance. So in reality you may only need 50w to hit your levels or you may listen very loud, have low sensitivity speakers and sit far enough away that you need 200w to hit your levels. We only use what it takes to hit our levels. If you had the same speaker all around and the LCR were 16' away but the surrounds and rears only 8' away, you'd use less than 1/2 the power to push the surrounds and rears to the same level as the LCR. Every time we double distance we lose around 4db (in room, 6db anechoic) which takes a little over double the power to overcome. Bottom line what Tonewinner has done here makes a ton of sense for most rooms and is a great way to cut cost and offer a better priced amp without killing performance.

If all the movies are filmed and produced with a 5.1 surround, what’s the point of having a 11 or 7 speaker surround system. Is it the same sound duplicated out of anything above the movies sound recording? I haven’t heard an answer to this question in any videos. Thanks

For instance I didn't even level match my speakers until 2020 after watching your video about it! Now I've spent the past 3 years upgrading my room to a fairly decent level, and and thinking about going with a separate amp to give my speakers more juice. I'm currently running a Yamaha A3080 AVR which powers my 7 bed layer speakers, and then two cheaper Niles amps for my 4 height channels.

If you feel you're hitting the limits of the AVR then separates can and do make a difference. The good thing is you can keep them for years even if you upgrade the processor/avr every few years, the separate amps don't need to be changed. It's a long term investment.

I have had some time with the 8300 and it's been great. As for the 8300 vs XPA. While the high power sections are similar the Emo is down to 65w with 2 channels on the rest while the 8300 has 105w with all 8 low power channels driven. This is substantial and assuming the Emo is likely 50w with all channels driven you're looking at 3db or so more headroom with the 8300. 50w a channel is what you'd expect from an AVR. That's just my 2 cents.

If the sunfire is still kicking I see no reason to get rid of it. An Amps job is to amplify and hopefully do that without coloring the sound. Of course you need enough headroom to keep distortion down. If it's doing that you're good.

@hometheatergurus
@hometheatergurus Жыл бұрын
Thanks! As long as the amp is capable of pushing the speaker to your levels, cleanly and the amp isn't coloring the sound you shoudln't hear a difference. An amps job is to amplify a signal and any amp with "a sound" is not something any of us should really want. That's changing the source.
@sandeepjohny6480
@sandeepjohny6480 Жыл бұрын
@@hometheatergurus thanks for explanation but how we can assure that amplifier not coloring the sound for example if we use source (AVR-Denon X4800h) without external amplifier watching movie and with External amplifier watching movie can identify the difference.still it's confusing like AVR are not all channel driven for full range of freequencies but amplifier works with all channel full range of freequencies. regarding calibration with amplifier & without amplifier both are same or independent
@hometheatergurus
@hometheatergurus Жыл бұрын
AVRs are going to tap out when pushed pretty easily depending on the speakers they're pushing which kills the dynamic range and adds distortion. When you run out of power the amps clip. This is audible and the difference in a system lacking power and dynamic range vs one with head room is substantial. AS for coloring, If you try an amp and notice the amp sounds different (warm for example) then you know it's coloring the sound. Some like this but you are altering the source. So if I were to use this amp and notice differences like this I'd know the amp has a sound signature. Of course you do have to run room correction and know your target and the room needs to be tuned to that target from one test to another. You can also run no room correction and listen for a difference but the key is to make sure only the amps you're listening to are what's changing. As best you can.
