It's not the base price of the pot that makes the challenge expensive, it's the Taxus added. Yew have done well with the challenge, but I think there is a typo in your hashtag, should it be "YewForTheBin"? Your Picea needs a bit of Spucing up, but I think you did say " just wait until spring" however you didn't mention what year!! I'm sure after seeing my tree, you were a little Jelle of it! Nice work and thought's about the challenge and thanks for the list of all the challenge videos! You know my comments are all in good fun, you did great!!

Great result. At the nursery I look for a good trunk - ideally thick and developed, with some potential movement, and without an ugly or obvious graft. The trunk is the bit that takes most time to develop and is the base on which all future work and styling depends. Thanks for the link in the description 🙏

@@GrowingBonsai I have done 2 trees for free, one 6 and one 7 euro tree. The cascading juniper was 15 Euro. If I go for 50 Euro challenge, none of you will have a chanse😅🤣. But if, it will be done earliest authum as I share your doubts about big summer work.😀👍

I love yew "berries", people are scared to eat them as almost everything on the tree is poisonous including the seed inside the fruit body, but the flesh of the fruit is lovely. reminds me of melon, very nice.

This is a great video for the series, I'm calling it that because I've enjoyed all of the video's you compiled into the playlist and I've been watching them like a series. It's so nice to see everyone having fun with it, thank you for making the playlist. I've made my first video just talking the challenge because I have a lot of $50 bonsai with a few "beginner years" on them and I'll be recording two more where I(hopefully) complete the challenge in a few way's now that it's spring.

This is some of the best good humor smack talk I've seen. In one of your comments you mentioned a guy named Sam as if you all might be afraid he'll take the challenge. I take it he is very good? What is his channel name? Amazing work on the two trees! These will EVENTUALLY be show pieces for sure. And thank you for emphasizing being patient and waiting until the right time of year for certain plants. I've watch many people do beautiful work on trees at the wrong time of the year. Only to see them never show the tree again. I guess they didn't survive. Cheers

@@GrowingBonsai I am in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. If you know zones, I am zone 3a, 3b. We get -30 to -40C in winter. I have only had one outside tree survive so far, in my partial basement. I am trying to find a good way to overwinter using native trees I collect for free first before I purchase nicer trees. This year I will try leaving them in my camping trailer. Nicer trees from greenhouse here are very expensive.

When they root, do you plan to keep them in the sand(?) or transplant into a pot. And if 1st option will you fertilize the trees at all.
