The Fortin Era Randall Amps are untouchable. Tight and crazy responsive tone. I am a big fan of the 667 and the KH103. They're a bit noisy, but they track amazingly well.

Hey Kyle! As a possible suggestion: using a load box you could route the amp into the cab and also into the PC in an IR that the audience could have access to ( like ML soundlab free IR or something like that) so that anyone with or without a cab can check and compare the different amps through a same IR with their rigs at home. Keep the good content!

I totally agree with the lack of high mid/presence in the diavlo series, that's why I modified my head. If you improve the "presence" circuit in a diavlo head, not only the high mids get back in the mix but you feel like having twice as much gain than before.

I’ve had this amp for about two years and love it. I use the Fortin 33 with it because it also switches channels when activated. I also keep an MXR 10 band in the loop.

Also, I have a Thrasher 120 and they can be extremely difficult to dial in. I've found that my Horizon Precision Drive is the perfect complement to the Thrasher.

I’ve noticed on my Trasher 50 if you jump the FX loop, Send to series works the best for me. Then use your Send control, It not only increases volume, but it also increases low end.

In some points I really like how it sounds, in others... Nothing. It's funny because it's an Amp that I love. With the Balaguer it sounds muuuuch better👌🏻🔝

This sounds pretty good by itself. Reminds me of the old death metal tones where it just sounds old school and clanky. Turning the boost on changed the whole tone IMO. More low mids and just overall tightens up.

Now you need to find a Randall RM 100 head, load in your favorite pre amp modules, update the midi board if running most the 2ch synergy modules. Or even using the beast stock Randall MTS modules (Randall Grail, Randall Ultra/Ultra XL)

Looking at this Randall head and the evh 5150 iconic. In your opinion me never have being able to hear either of those in person but you obv have. Which would be best and straight up full of nasty high gain chugs!! Filthiest of the 2? And which would take a boost better? A maxon or ts kinda thing. I want gnarly over gain filth. Which of those would you choose for that? I have a Randall diavlo 45w head that can get there but you deff gotta get a good boost in front and push it.

I think you maybe had the mic a lil too close to the dust cap or something, because lots of fizzle happening here, probably sounded better in the room I’m guessing. I always just felt these amps lacked balls in the power section. Not enough dynamic punchy low mids. Just flat fizzy distortion from the upper frequencies.

I have a video playing a 120, got a really mean sound out of it, I tracked an entire album with it as well. Album is "Ugly" by metus. BUT anyway, I think you got it to sound pretty good with your style. I find it better for 7/8 string music.

Some amps have the gain kick in at 3 or 4 and anything past 5 is too much (EVH red channel comes to mind). So the fact that there's a much wider range of gain that dials in gradually, I can see the goal there. Definitely an amp that needs to be dialed with your ears, not your eyes. I think fluff told a story years ago that he was struggling to get the satan to sound good and emailed Ola and in a sort of Zen moment Ola just told him to "dial with his ears, not his eyes" and he got it. I find the EQ on my 6505+ is guilty of doing nothing from 0 - 4 and the gain is also ridiculous over 6 ish on the red channel. But it still sounds kick ass. Also, it was funny to see the head nod at 19:30 when the tone really sat well for you. Thanks for another awesome demo! (I think it's about time I subscribe....)

Anyone know a owners manual for the Thrasher 50 can be obtained? I see a manual for the 120 but not the 50. I'm needing BIAS info for new tubes. Thanks
@Mike_HuntizWet
@Mike_HuntizWet Жыл бұрын
Just use the formula Wattage of tube divided by the plate voltage. Ex: EL34 is a 25 watt tube divided by the measured plate voltage. 25/450=.055 x .7/.75(percentage of tube power dissipation)=.039mV/mA

Hey bro. I've owned a Thrasher 120 about a year ago. It was definitely decent on its own. Even though I never used it in a band setting, I could tell that it would disappear in the mix if I ever did. I wound up trading it for a Mesa triple rectifier. By the way, I recently bought an MXR badass modified overdrive. I'm running it in front of an ENGL Fireball 100, totally killer!!!!! Thank you for your channel and all you do!!!!

Hey Kyle! What's up bro? Great job on the reviews. I definitely check you chanel out all of the time. Especially if I am about to make a purchase. These vids have been a great help. One thing though I wanted to mention. I know that tube amps are your thing as they are mine but there are a few great solid state amps out there too. I'd love to see you review the AMT Stonehead if you could get your hands on one. What I've heard from them so far has sounded great! Extremely tight yet warm. Check it out bro! I think you might love it!

SO. MUCH. FIZZ. do you find that listening back to these tracks sounds the same as it did when you were recording? i always found that trying to dial an amp without my head at ear level resulted in a WAY too bright sound. also who would have thought that a schecter makes annoying sounds? 😂

On the drowning out, might have dialed this in wrong then. No hate, but I have the same amp. Going up against my other guitarists Dual Rec and I'm cutting through over him, until he throws on his lead channel but thats cranked up for solos. I will say it's very gain-y and really wants to go hard as balls all the time, but so far it's one of my tops. Played through it about 2 years now along with a Marshall 412a on my E-II Arrow w/ EMG 85/81
@belligerentamateur
@belligerentamateur 2 жыл бұрын
Nah man, if you look through these comments, it's a common complaint about the amp. The mids aren't in the right plave to compete in a band. If yourt other guitarist uses modern mode of his Rectifier, it wouldn't surprise me if the Thrasher can hang with that, because it's pretty scooped out .

These amps KILL through Greenbacks. Tames that fizz, and I found the tone stack all the way up, boost off, and your own boost in front is the way to go. Sounds more raw with the onboard boost off. These were killer amps at $999, but I'd never pay the current ridiculous prices Randall's now asking. I'd still take one over an EVH, at the right price.

Crate gfx 1200h with dsp on board is strangly awesome especially with a messa cab found a used one at a pawnshop and over the years ive traded n sold tons of amazing gear but always hung onto this halfstack its just weird n simple gives a 90s dime sound. doo you got an amp like this? was not expensive and you found yourself choosing it over someting highend?

Man I don't know what is more impressive, the amount of content you put out or the amount of amplifiers you are able to get your hands on. Also, I agree with the Satan/Thrasher having a good sound but they seem more suited towards 7 strings or baritones.

They chug and keep tight on 6 strings well. I get a great thrash/death metal sound out of it and even manage to get some great rock tones with it too. Tunings range from E standard to a Low drop G#.

I have had very bad luck out of Randall amps. And the company is impossible to work with. Actually they are impossible to even contact. So now I have an amp I can't use, return or even give away in good faith. As far as I am concerned Randall makes junk and is a borderline crook company.

I don't understand the whole getting butt-hurt over differences in gear opinions thing. If everyone liked the same thing, we'd only have one amp manufacturer that produced one model. As you know, that's not the case because you have a KZbin channel dedicated to all the different "tools of the belligerent amateur." I'm not into the Thrasher either, but that just means Randall has sold one less amp. They're doing fine without me.
