Hey I'm Paul from guitar world... I'm playing the 666 brand demon spawn hell fire apocalypse guitar amp. I'm using a serial killer guitar brand 8 string guitar with emg pickups. here's the clean sound and some medium gain.....

We need Ola or Keith to do some metal reviews from Guitar World
@mobatumi10 жыл бұрын
The problem with Ola's reviews is that he makes all the amps sound the same...
@pivetlord1310 жыл бұрын
Ola is a great player but a bad reviewer/ demoer. same with keith. Ola makes every amp sound the same.
@HurtboxTV10 жыл бұрын
pivetlord13 he makes them sound good to him, he's doing metal demos. And his tone if dam good. Same with Keith, Paul's guitars are rarely ever in tune and half the time I question his ability to play clean. I've never found any of these demo videos from him informative at all.
@mobatumi10 жыл бұрын
HurtboxTV well, u know "sounds good" or "bad" is a question of personal taste. And "sounds the same" is really a problem when you deal with a choice of the equipment. Especially taking into account that Ola uses also bass, drum a rhythm lines behind his playing which makes the listener totally unable to understand what's being demonstrated at all. Personally I don't like Ola's demos. Still I'm agree that Paul does not understand what metal is. I think he is a very good player but he shouldn't demo metal or should ask somebody what it really is.
@tuck23410 жыл бұрын
Well you guys could always rely on Rob Chapman and his buddy Capt to demo it...He plays every amp he demos like gold.

Give Paul something not designed for metal and he makes it sound like metal with lots of gain and he cuts the mid for a scooped out sound. Give Paul an amp for medal and he decides to bring up the mid and play whatever the hell that was
@tvelt1710 жыл бұрын
Sounds like it suffers from the same problem that most Randall amps I've played have. Marketed as "OMG more gain than you'd ever need" then it has less gain than basically every other amp on the market. just listen to how not chunky his palm muting sounds... this is a recorded tone too. Everything sounds like it has more gain through a recording.

Excellent playing and demo. I suspect that brittle upper mid tone is coming from the pickups on that guitar. Would like to hear it with a LP Traditional.

use your passive input with active pickups, plus dial the bitch in properly to give it its true natural punch, sounds bad on this review :/
@Dimester698 жыл бұрын
YES! i dunno whats up with that active input. i don't get it.. they should have spent the money elsewhere and given it a 4 button foot switch instead or a shape dial like on the satan so you can fine tune the tone stack to your cab (instead of the 3 way toggle) coz its picky about speakers too and its voiced for G12H-100's which celestion stopped selling off the shelf years ago (makem on order for Randall).. good once its sorted and dialed in tho but i reckon that active input would have turned a few people off off it at the store because obviously if you're using actives that's what you're gonna go for

I have found that if Paul plays an amp and it sounds good the amp is a dud and should be avoided. If Paul plays it and it sounds like dogshit then it is likely a great amp.

@harshlands10 жыл бұрын
Wow, is Paul getting better at his job or something here? This was an actually watchable review from him this time, he actually even played something really nice for about a minute too. And even though Randall hasn't really impressed me before this amp sounds really damn good, though I agree with the dude who said it sounded more like a hard rock amp, but thats fine cuz theres still lots of us who play rock. Good review Paul, see it pays to demo something with more than just one garishly fuzzy metal tone throughout. Still need a haircut though dude, still need a haircut, heh.

this what happens when non-metal guitar players review metal amps.
@samuellopezalcantara645510 жыл бұрын
I have one and for metal, mainly what I play, it's a monster. In this video you can't check its potential cause this guy is using it wrong. I talked to a Randall technician and he told that the guitar inputs names are confusing. ACTIVE = LOW INPUT. So passive or active pickups both in the Passive input and you will not hear this poor sound. This Thrasher is really a beast!! And rising up the volume,,, even more aggressive!!
@sixtyfiveofive252410 жыл бұрын
This demo would suffice for a Recto.... or a Peavey Rage.... not this sucker.... Nobody who is interested in a thrasher wants to hear blues licks.... you can get blues out of any amp... but tight low end is a main goal here..... chug or GTFO. ...
@Dimester699 жыл бұрын
+Samuel Lopez Alcantara agreed! i dont know why they put an active and passive input my active sound like crap thru the active says in the manual that it changes to the 1st input tube but my actives sound way better in the passive input

I got this through musicians friend and I honestly hate the damn thing and am going to sell it. I may try to swap the 6L6s out for EL34s first, but I have to say, the sound is very harsh, not warm at all, and pinch harmonics sound shitty and unnatural. If you want something for bedroom level this is not the amp, it needs to be cranked, and when you do small animals in a 1 to 2 mile radius will implode. These things are personnel tastes, so I imagine some actually like it, I'm just not one of them.
@Luxorcist9 жыл бұрын
Usually, amps like this are not for "bedroom level" and need to be cranked up to really let the tubes color the sound. But thats why tube amps are used for recording, you get good heavy sounds out of them when theyre turned up. Also, a boost is usually required to get good sound out of this big tube amps. I have a Mesa Triple Rectifier, and personally, i think it sounds shitty just by itself, especially at low volumes its kind of.. "tubby". However, i run a Maxon OD808 in front of it, and it makes a tremendous difference. I haven't had the chance to play through one of these yet, or any of the new randalls for that matter, but if theyre like the other tube amps ive played with, they would probably benefit from some kind of boost. if you want room sound, maybe try the RD20w, or the 50 might be better.
@clutchkman10 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if I like this amp or not. I think it'd be fun to play with, like a toy, but I don't hear the quality of tone that would put it in the same league with Marshall or Mesa. The reviewer plays just fine. You know that he can't play exactly what each of you want to hear, so put a sock in it and work on your own chops.

The flagshp is Randall Satan.
@XMetalChefX8 жыл бұрын
Steve Carlsson Randalls flagship is the 667. The Satan is Ola Englund's signature amp.
@stevecarlsson89537 жыл бұрын
So neither Thrasher is flagship. For hi-gain Randall Satan beats 667 imho. And yes, 667 has more channels and more versatile amp than Thrasher.
@XMetalChefX7 жыл бұрын
Steve Carlsson That's true because the Randall Satan in actually a complete replica of the FORTIN SATAN amp thar Ola was designed in with Mike Fortin of Fortin Amplification. When Mike signed a deal with Randall to consult and design some amps, they signed Ola as an artist and released the SATAN under the Randall banner. So basically, If you get a thrasher, Satan, or 667, you are getting a rebranded FORTIN amp. I find the thrasher to be one of the best amps ever made for metal. The amount of USABLE gain on it is disgusting. Haven't played the Satan. I suppose technically speaking the Thrasher could be the flagahip, but usually the flagship model is the most high end one.
@stevecarlsson89537 жыл бұрын
As Mike said Satan is not NATAS, as there were something added and something replaced. And Satan and Thrasher are similar, but Satan has a bit more bass and punch.
@XMetalChefX7 жыл бұрын
Steve Carlsson Correct. Ola FORTIN SATAN was a natal thst was voiced and changed for Ola. The Randall Satan is Randalls version of THAT amp. IDK what the thrasher is based on I would assume the NATAS. It's MF designed tho as is the 667.
