Thank you Director. The Legato is meant to mimic the old big speakers we grew up listening to, according to its makers, so it is not meant to take on what Timeless duo takes on, it's Friday afternoon fun listen . That big case has a removable inner so that you can also use it as a storage unit for your IEMs on your desk area, they first did it with the Dioko. I have quite a few of these 7Hz IEMs, fun.

i own the Legato, and they certainly are a throwback from the golden age of hi-fi stereo box speakers. It pairs quite well with Dunu's S&S silicone tips(the sound opens up; seems to improve the air and soundstage, plus it also seems to refine the bass). ...by the way, do consider sizing down(as per Dunu's recommendation) if you're planning to try out the S&S tips. i usually wear 11.30 mm - 12mm tips, but followed Dunu's recommendation and went for the 10.16mm "Medium" sized tips, and the fit was perfect(really comfortable too).

Thanks for another great video! I have the AE’s and love them, I also have been living with the Stage 3’ my first Noble audio wired product. I went with the Stage 3s because the small size and small nozzle which is important to me! Wow!! Is all I will say, I have not picked up any of my other IEMs since I got the Stage 3s…..❤

Timeless AE is one of my overall favorite sets (and I own more than I care to admit). I have heard almost every single planar IEM under $400 and the AE sits at the top of the stack for musical enjoyment.

Spot on. I think they obliterate anything under $1000, and most balanced-armature-only designs. I can't think of an IEM under a grand that I prefer to the TimelessAE.

How do you place the heyday HBB in your list.. from recording i felt it was very good even against mest mkII and monark.. and against timeless AE
@DirectorsGarage
@DirectorsGarage Жыл бұрын
@@lextr3110 I’ve only heard the original Monarch. I had the MEST V1. I think the Timeless AE is stronger on technicals (image, detail) and comparable on tonality. The MEST had a very deep sub. I no longer own them. I haven’t heard the Tangzu yet, or the Monarch 3. I still like the Nanna 2.0, but the TimelessAE, I think, delivers greater detail and I think they’re more precise on image. I suspect the TimelessAE will run into tough competition between $1k and up. But for all B/A arrangements- 64 Audio, Campfire etc, I think those IEMs will struggle. Once you get to EStat tweeters and double DD bass drivers things will be quite competitive. But you’re talking about a $250 IEM vs. a $1300 IEM. Quite the achievement for 7Hz.

@@lextr3110 Heyday is my other favorite planar IEM. They compliment each other well with the Timeless being bombastic and fun and Heyday being a nice relaxed and detailed neutral.

Michael, Just purchased the 7hz timeless AE! In a word I can describe the timeless is “ TIGHT “! I love the detail and love how well it sounds with my deconi foam ear tips ! I’m looking into purchasing the Livzer lab Jiju jet 2! These are brass in the middle and are inverted when you put them on ! Have you heard anything about these ear tips? I hear they have great soundstage!

Great video, I never really bothered getting the 7HZ because of how many more expensive iems/headphones I own. After recently falling in love with Crin's project red, I think I may pick up the AE next time it goes on sale (will probably have to be black friday). Definitely some change in perspective.

I am looking for a portable dac /amp in the $100-$150 price range! I work as a janitor in the evenings so I want something small and lightweight with a slightly warm soundstage! I keep hearing in the Amazon reviews that a lot of customers we’re having problems with the fit! My preference has been foam eattips , but I have heard the divinus velvet silicone tips are very comfortable fitting! I thought of double flange tips but seeing the nozzle length it might not stay secure! As far as specs , do you know what the nozzle diameter is! Thanks for your input and comparisons! It comes down to how much you value bass presence in your system. If you're more of a neutral fan, then stay with the Timeless. If you want a Timeless with a more robust bass push, then these are the answer. Personally-- I think it's worth it-- but I'm a bit of a basshead.

It depends on if you really prize bass. The AE kicks harder down low. I, personally, love a robust bass. So it’s worth it to me- and $250 is a bargain in the IEM world. Both punch way way above their price point. Cheers! Thanks for watching Arthur!

i don't think it's fair to compare the Legato with the Timeless AE. They both are tuned quite differently, plus the Legato was tuned for a specific niche crowd. It's not trying to be like the other "audiophile" Harman curve iems; it was trying to do its own thing. In my opinion, the Legato should be judged on whether or not it was set out to accomplish and not on what it was not meant to do. Larry and Ray were quite clear on what they were trying to accomplish with the Legato. Their goal was to give the modern crowd a taste of that old-school hi-fi stereo box speaker sound of the 60's, 70's all the way to the early 90's, that was from brands such as Technics, Akai, Sansui, Lansing Sound/JBL, Kenwood, Marantz, etc... This was also a time when the Harman frequency target was not the thing, hence the Legato was intentionally tuned not to be "Harman" in any way. In hobby that is mostly subjective, there are still moments or areas where there are opportunities to be objective. And if we are going to respect the subjective opinion of one another, then we should also respect the tuning preference, the "opinion", of Larry and Ray, the creative minds behind the tuning of the Legato. They had a specific goal in mind, a specific product to deliver. We cannot just cast that aside for the sake of personal subjective opinion or for the sake of "me" and what's good and not good for "me". Then that would be a disrespect to the artists- yes sound tuning and sound engineering is an art. Larry and Ray were quite clear that the tuning is not for everyone. You will either love it(and be nostalgic about it as well) or you're just gonna not like it because it isn't your cup of tea. And if we are going to judge their work on the Legato, in my opinion and if we are going to be objective and fair about it, then we should judge the Legato on whether or not it is able to deliver what it promised to deliver, and not on what it wasn't meant to do nor did it promise to do in the first place. The Legato promised to give the modern listener a taste of the hi-fi stereo box speaker sound from that "golden era" of box speakers(70's-90's). It didn't promise the cleanest sound, or a balanced sound, or the most resolving and most detailed sound reproduction, and neither did it promise to be anywhere near the Harman frequency target. Larry and Ray were quite clear and specific on what they wanted to deliver to the listener with the Legato; that old-school hi-fi stereo box speaker sound of the 70's, 80's, and early 90's that they grew up with(and i, was able to catch the tail-end of). So, was the Legato able to deliver what it set out to deliver? The verdict to that, i will leave to those who owns the Legato. To get a better background and back story on the Legato, here are Larry and Ray, the two men responsible for the tuning behind the Legato, in a short interview with Ian Fann: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWXIf2B4npenmMksi=dgm8V3MPv9UuKB1c ...by the way, if you happen to own the Legato, try pairing it with Dunu's S&S eartips; it opens up the sound a bit more and cleans up the bass a bit(and do consider sizing down, as per the recommendation of Dunu on their website regarding the S&S eartips.)

I respect your opinion. Many folks disagree with me. But here's my point of view: I'm the customer. I bought these myself, and spent my own money on them. I really don't care who they're tuned for, I care about how they sound to me. I relay what I hear to you guys, potential buyers. You can do with that information what you wish, or even not watch the show (evidenced by the LOW view count on this episode! LOL). Yeah, I spent 4 days of my life building an episode that 200 people watched. Lord help me. I spent $109 dollars on the Legato. I spent around $250 on the Timeless AE. I paid for them both (all of my 7Hz IEMs, in fact). The Legato sound, to me, in line with other headphones at the $100 dollar price point. They're good. They're fun. But they're not exceptional or bringing something to the table I can't get anywhere else. I like them in the way I liked the Starfield or the Legacy 2. Both feature DDs. That's a compliment. The Timeless and the TimelessAE sound similar to -- or in some cases better than -- several $1000 and $2000 IEMs, in my opinion. I think it's unfair to the Timeless to indicate they aren't as great as they are. The Legato is a good IEM. But they have a loose bottom that bleeds over the mids. Whether intended or not, that's what I hear. They also don't have a lot of snap to them. Neither does the ZMF Atrium in the over ear world and I still love them. If I don't tell you guys that the headphone is slow, you may buy them thinking they have a ton of detail and snap, and I will have done you a disservice. So I understand that the Legato was going for a "sound." Fine. But I have to put that sound into words, or else why review them at all? If you ask me who they are tuned for-- I will tell you, "I bought them, so they are tuned for ME."

I haven't heard ae but i have both og timeless & also legato & i disagree that legato have distortion. Infact its the timeless which shit its pants when it comes to bass & I'm not talking about bass in music I'm talking about sub bass in tv shows (eg loki s2e6, underwater 2020, edge of tomorrow intro etc) & legato never once distorted but timeless couldn't even create any bass & in most cases hissed like a cat.
