Jude here🙂 I’ just turned 71 and still love the “Van Life”…I’ve downsized yet again to a minivan…love the freedom it gives me to park and go anywhere inconspicuously. Gas mileage is good as well. Just spent 10 days at a beautiful campground in Colorado called Target Tree near Mancos, Co. I will continue this lifestyle until it’s time to hang up my keys, which I don’t plan to do any time soon😍

Hi Jude. I have always enjoyed traveling. I'm a 53 yo widow and wantt to get my feet wet since I can't jump in since I need to work. What suggestions do you have to prepare myself now so I can at least venture out on extended vacations?

Jude, I’m so glad you shared your story. I have had to take over the driving our 30’ class A. We had a 22’ Winnebago Travago. I love it. I actually drove I go work every day. We got 17 to 21 mpg with which we were very pleased. Keep encouraging folks to get out of their comfort zone and enjoy life. You will only regret what you didn’t try. Keep on keeping on 👍🏻

I started parked in my parents driveway, 1 mile from my full-time job and gym membership, so Im not exactly roughing it. Saving 2k a month for rent and utilities has been the best part. My X and I had a Roadtrec about 20 yrs ago and we loved it. I originally bought it for my daughter who has developmental disabilities I parked it outside my place of employment and she stayed in it for a couple of hours while I finished up work, after her day program. Because of the generator it worked well for us. We also travelled all over the west coast in it. Now that I'm older, I dream of getting another one and travelling the US. This woman is awesome! Watching these videos makes me homesick for the freedom of living in an R.V. My husband and I spent most of our life living in Trailer houses, we were migrant workers and we went from California ( picking cherries 🍒 at Linden, Ca.to Washington State to pick cherries 🍒 then to Montana to pick cherries 🍒 we picked apples at Lake Chelan,Washington. Then to Florida to winter and pick oranges 🍊) this was in the 1950 into the70’ s) We had a good life and all the freshest of healthy fruits right off the tree 🌳 to eat. We met some very nice people , some were from Mexico, some were from Jamaica and some were just local people making a living doing the best they could at the job they were doing. When we got to old to climb ladders to pick the fruit. We started going down to Quartzite, Arizona and coyote camping ,that is true freedom .!! Love each and every one of you and be kind to one another smile and say hello 👋 you’ll be surprised At wonderful you will feel, good for the soul !👍💕👍🌈👵🏻🐶

Bob, I often hear you say you get what you pay for and I know part of this life is being minimalistic and a really cutting down your expenses, but I can’t agree with you more that it’s better to buy quality and as you always say do you research so you know what is quality and what isn’t because there are items that are junk that cost just as much as quality items. Once you’ve done your research it might take an extra couple months to save for it but I think it’ll pay off in the end. Every time I’ve ever taken the cheap route on anything in life whether it’s been carpeting versus tile or you name it I always regret going the cheap route It usually happens between three months and three years, but it never fails. I always regret going the cheap route I remember one time specifically I made the decision to carpet my hallways instead of paying an extra $300 for tile and that was such a big mistake. We always appreciate your thoughtfulness and, your advice stay safe

I'm been living in 64 square feet in the Mojave Desert. I only planned yo land here because i have two dogs and eventually inch my way closer to Los Angeles. But i have outdoor space where i can stretch out and do things. 78 square feet would totally work for me. I am really thinking more and more about biting the bullet and doing the van thing. My girls are going to be 13 in August. I hope they live several more years. That will give me time to plan and save. I'd love to find a smaller electric van or maybe a type two ambulance. I loce the built-in industrial grade cabinets.

I did something very similar, my husband died 5 yrs ago, and I am an adventurous enthusiastic traveler, and I lived in a 5th wheel for a couple of years and loved it, but had to "come home" to help take care of my daughter's 3 kids while she went through cancer treatment and now she's all better and I'm beginning to feel the road calling again, so I am trying to save up, but difficult with my youngest son in college, I'm sure the parents out there understand that LoL! Happy travels!!

I’d love a Roadtrek myself. My dad had a brand new one for a few years and some lucky person owns it now. Saying lucky because he hardly put any miles on it before he got to aged to drive it. I watched this video way back and wondering if she still loves her life on the road. Bob have you considered ever doing “Where are they now videos “?😊

Wow this lady was smart with her RoadTrek! The 170 RoadTrek is very small and the biggest complaint I had about it is in the kitchen it had hardly no cupboards. (I think I saw 2 cupboards when I looked at one) But this lady just had more added! That was so smart and I feel dumb for not thinking about that as an option. Whoever made her cupboards did a great job and they're beautiful! It looks like they were put in by The Roadtrek factory!!

I love this interview because she is speaking my mind. I am a new Carlifer and it’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time. It was by choice that I choose to convert to carlife. I’ve craved for years a simple life and this is it for me. I may in the future upgrade to a van but I feel the most safe living in my car than I ever did in a house/apartment. Most people yes project their fears and concerns because they are so programmed to think normal/conventional is ONLY what they have been spooned to believe it to be. This lifestyle isnt new it’s actually the oldest form of living (minimally/simple). This woman inspires my soul even more. Wishing her and many others the best!!!❤…….and I too was not scared to just do. I LOVVVVVE IT!

I love this van! I'm really thinking about doing this someday. I currently own a 1800 square foot 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house, drive a nice car and have a $55,000 a year job. That all may sound nice to most people but I'm not happy. I have all these things but I'm working so much, I can't even enjoy any of it. My job is making me miserable. I want to enjoy life! I can't do that if I'm working in order to support all these luxuries in my life.

I am proud of you for talking about anxiety and getting pro help for it. I think you will so very happy you did. Now it may take a minute, but keep at it. Last year I has a terrible time with GAD and other issues. I also have the rosacea and dental issues. Anxiety can mess with your weight. Definately use us for therapy but someone who is highly trained is the way to go. Telehealth counseling is the way to go. I know you are struggling and hurting. It can be so hard. You've got a great train of thought going. Something that helped me was journaling, gratitude list, more physical excersize and eating better.... can be considered as boring, but it does help. Medication could be the answer.. you are doing such great job with your discussion.

loved her shower area gave her nice space for the shower, yet tucks away for more living space as well as more storage space, by not having a built "room" for shower.I would have liked to see the shower floor and the drainage system for it. She's totally right, we may have more space in a house but we really don't used it or need it. Love the idea of everything one owns at their finger tips. Also the need to keep things moving instead of just packing it in and storing things we really don't need.

That's a sweet home ! unfortunately where I live a rig that size and quality would cost $60,000 or more. I cant belive people in the US can buy a van like that under $20,000. That's really awesome. I'm thinking I may have to fly somewhere else to buy a van because around here they're crazy expensive.

My family and I were migrant workers for several years. We had 24 ft travel trailer we lived in all year , that was our home. Livening in an R v of any type is in my opinion the very essence of freedom . ( Me and my husband ,our daughter and Tina our chihuahua, 2 lb, killer chihuahua :) ) traveled from California to Washington State , Montana and to Florida we picked cherries in summer apples in the fall and oranges in winter in Florida my daughter went to school there. But that all sounds like a great lifestyle and for us it was we had a nomadic soul, but it takes a lot mental rethinking to start a full time life living in an RV. If you do decide to start don’t go buy the biggest beautiful R V on the lot ! I personally would recommend renting one for a week or a week end to see how “ it fit “ . You will have to give up a lot habits we make in our day to day lives. Even the largest RV storage space is limited. And those storage things on top of the R V adds weight and wind drag, that cost you in fuel ⛽️. ,! Think about giving up your way of living. before jumping to this life style,it isn’t for everyone , there is a mind set on the way it seems and it actually is. One thing that is a great idea in our jobs where computers are used ,you can take you work with you most any where. I loved the life on the road We met so meany wonderful people, and was able to so much of our beautiful Nation ! Watching these videos I get home sick for coyote camping and that old White Line Fever !!! I wish you more luck then you’ll need ( from Jimmy Buffet song) Blessed Be 👍💕🦋🌈👵🏻🐶
