Congratulations with the bike. Bought this bike a year ago, also low mileage, I don't regret it one bit. It is a fantastic bike and bang for the buck. It does have its issues, like more wear on the tyres due to its heavy weight. My '08 bike also has the hydraulic center stand, which is incredibly helpful. I never thought that such a heavy bathtub of a bike could be so much fun to ride every day, especially for such an old design, which I rather lovingly compare to the Enterprise D from the 80's :o)

I’m not exactly sure when they added the electric stand feature, that’s a huge plus I’m sure. Glad you are enjoying the bike.

Couple of things, the k1200lt was produced from 1999 thru 2009…also the fuel gauge float is inside of a thin walled brass tube inside the fuel tank (where else would it be?) if you stick the gas pump on the tank and let it hang in the hole, you will dent in that tube with the nozzle, and the float will jamb in there, then the gauge will not work…how do I know? Rode a 2000 LT for 1 years…

That bike is absolutely mint!!! Turn signals are like a harely. Wow, a cassette player!!! My kids wouldn't even know what that is. Would not have expected cruise control on 23 year old bike. Pretty cool bike.

Kind of rare finding one of these with all those little extras still working. Most people throw that 6 CD changer out for more storage room

I didn't know there is a wrong side for gassing the bike. Preference, yes, but easy access from either side. Just saying. Good video!

Great video. Let me suggest grab the handlebar as closest as possible to the center of the bike, touching the controls, with no gap as you can see in your video specially with your left hand. You will have much more control of the handlebar.

Look dude,I agree it's a damn good bike. I bought an 05 model,w 12k mi.,5 mos.ago, now 17.5k,ridden fromNY to Fla.,still riding.will ride back to NY.,in April.so far only issue is clutch " clatter",sitting at light,in neutral.dry clutch, noise is unnerving, maybe normal.dont like it.also, you need 2 change brake fluid,at least every 2 yrs.Went 2 Max bmw up in Troy,NY,last fall. How much 2 change out fluid, fellas? Aw shucks, only 450$ bleeping dollars!! Wat the hell? No bs,friends.so went on line, watched Illinois bmw biker dude video,10 x,and did job myself.price of b.fluid, and 40$ funnel,to access abs system fluid reservoir. Saved 450$. Plus, changed air filter, which requires removing the giant 6.6 gallon gas tank,,plus all the freaking bodywork,in the way.huge pain in the a**!! Don't get me wrong,I love the bike, cost 48 hundred bucks,,but,if you can't learn to pull most of the maintenance yourself,,DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE!! BMW will put u in the damn poor house..NO B.S.!! Great bike,,the maintenance is a killer..good luck,,be smart.

Wow recognized the Lyons area right away! My friend's Dad ran the former tire shop next to the gas station in the 80's. My Dad worked at the cement plant there. You drove right under the conveyor belt that brought the raw materials to the plant. Right where you parked my best friend and I used to go shooting and up further in Stone Canyon. Been wanting a K bike just like that one. Thanks for a trip down memory lane.

I owned a K1200GT 2003 for 4 years and wow it/they have real issues like rear main seals leak, clutch slave cylinders leak and when they do they leak on the clutch so replace the clutch, electric over hydraulic servo brakes which fail regularly and when they do super expensive so conversion is remove it hmmmm hassle because of roadworthy compliance. So for me never ever again will I buy a BMW.

Sometimes it's the 'luck of the draw' for problems you've had. I've owned two 2002 R1150-RS bikes and have had essentially zero mechanical problems with either one. Sold the first one for 'health reasons'. Once resolved, I bought another in 2021 with only 23,000-km on it for the same money I sold my first one - Barely broken in... They both ran like the day they rolled out of the showroom, even though I put over 125,000-km on the first one. I will admit my valve maintenance is ridiculously easy, with the two cylinders hanging out the sides. I suspect removing the fairing panels to adjust the K-1200 valves would be more of a challenge. I wouldn't want all that extra weight either, just to get a bigger fairing, luggage, and a radio/cassette player. I have two locking BMW side system cases that are removable, so I don't have to haul them everywhere when I'm not staying over-night and need that luggage space. I also have ABS, and have had zero problems with it. Nice to have when it's needed, and the power assist means I always have plenty of braking. My brother bought a 2017 BMW R-1200-RS, and he loves it. It's certainly lighter and more powerful, and has more options, like a quick-shifter and programable drive modes.

I have owned two BMW bikes, a 1999 R1200C and a 2003 R1150 RT. The RT had the servo-assisted brakes. I took them on long weekends and weeklong trips over the years. I had no problems with either bike. As a fellow rider, I am sorry for your misfortune.
