Hey! how many people are in your band? I'm still new to this, so to be sure, there are 4 of us in my band. So all 4 of us have to buy one of these in-ear systems? Can't we send different signals from one transmitter to several receivers? Sorry it's a silly question but I'd rather ask before making a bad purchase, thank you!
@Bensonman93
@Bensonman93 2 ай бұрын
@@pierrea9422 For sure, it all depends how many mixes you want. Each transmitter will transmit only 1 mix, for which you can pair several receivers by matching the frequency of the transmitter. For each member to have an independent mix, they will each need both a transmitter and receiver. Also note that if you have multiple transmitters, you will need to set a different frequency for each so they do not conflict. Out of the box they all use the same frequency and that will cause issues. Hope this helps!

Great review Scott! That’s really nice that it comes with the antenna extender and a hole on the rack mount. So many cheaper units won’t. And thank you for testing these things out, when you can, while you’re playing live. @@ScottUhlMusic This whole frequency thing is just a mess around here. From what I could figure out is that everyhing from 865 MHz up to 1785 MHz is not allowed for "consumer usage". Please check on your rechargeable batteries recommendation. While looking into this option, I found that NiMH are unacceptable. The Phenyx receivers need more voltage than the typical 1.2v of a NiMH. I was told to use Li-ion AA's because they held 1.5v until they "die" and need recharging. But we've stayed with Alkalines since the Li-ion are still much more expensive, and should not be left on charge for extended periods of time (like from Sunday to Sunday). IMHO, Li-ion rechargeable batteries are just not practical for us, yet.... Otherwise, great video!

Hey Scott. Love the channel! I’ve been having some serious issues with my PTM-10. My 4 piece rock/jam band has been building an In-Ear rig over the past month or so. We use a zoom l-12 board and have gotten it dialed in a wired situation. We just added the ptm-10 and have been getting some real bad noise/distortion/rattling. I understand some regular wireless hiss, but this is specifically happening with our playing. Our notes have a hiss that is dynamic to how hard our attack is. I have plugged the 1/4 directly into the unit (sounds good), plugged into another monitor send from my mixer (sounds good), but sounds terrible using the wireless. I have my gain staging on my mixer with plenty of gain on tap, and have tested the unit with a max amount of gain in and running it low. Any suggestions? I bought a PTM-10, but I got a big problem: there are a high background noise in the earbuds. Some kind of background sound does all systems like this have, but this is a lot higher than my old Shure 200 (which is completely silent). The noise is the same if there are sound into the sender or not, and it is the same if the sender is turn off or on. NB! This was the Phenyx Pro PTM-10 in the 500MHz series, - all tests are of 900MHz. The noise was so loud that I returned it. I got the money back, but not the expenses for transport and taxes which are almost 300 USD. I don't get an answer from Phenyx if they find something wrong with the system I returned, or if it is supposed to be so noisy. If there is an error in the system they sent me, they should pay the transport costs. If there is going to be that much noise, other customers need to know before they buy. I do not recommend anyone to buy the Phenyx Pro PTM-10 500MHz or buy anything from this company that does not cover the expenses a customer has when the system they send have errors.

I just used the PTM-10 yesterday and I didn’t have this problem. My drummer also uses it as his main IEM rig too. There are countless possibilities on what could be causing noise. Hi Scott, I'm from Argentina, I've been watching your videos and I really appreciate the material shared! What do you think of using 4 or more of these systems would it be conflictive? In my country, 500mhz is allowed and I am finding out if 900mhz is also possible, how to divide 4 teams into 500 and 4 into 900mhz (in a hypothetical case) or could they all work together in 500mhz without problems? I am also waiting for some news from Phenyx Pro about antennas and combiner for these systems, since they only have this systems for microphones. I await your answer, thank you very much

Our band is venturing into the territory of wireless IEM's. Definitely interested in the PTM-10's, as I'll be funding the conversion for a four-piece band that my wife and I play in. It appears that you would recommend a couple in the 500Mhz range and a couple in the 900Mhz range if my plan was to have all four units in a rack. Is that correct? Would I still need to consider an antenna combiner if I went 2@500 & 2@900? Also looking at the CCA C-12 monitors for my wife and I as an upgrade to provided set. Finally got one of these and I’m having a problem with hissing/static when audio goes over the wireless. When I’m plugged straight into the headphone jack it’s fine. But when using the body pack and I talk into a microphone or play a bass guitar, I hear an annoying hiss. I tested it against a diy monitor setup like you detailed in another video (Phenyx pro ptg-12 wireless guitar system plugged into donner em2 headphone amp) and the diy solution sounds fine… I’ve tested a bunch of different gains/volumes and I’m about to give up and talk to support. Ever heard of this issue?

@@ScottUhlMusic this is apparently what I’m hearing: “Wireless mics operate at very low RF transmit power levels (typically 5 to 50 mW) and as a result the audio signal to noise ratio is not very high. Analog wireless mics use “companding” to improve the apparent S/N by compressing the signal in the transmitter to reduce its dynamic range, and then doing a precisely matched expansion of the signal in the receiver. This does not actually improve the S/N, but it fools the ear into thinking the S/N is better.” That’s why I’m hearing noise only when there’s sound going through. Someone told me they had a similar issue and it was a bad antenna. I’ll keep you posted!

@@ScottUhlMusic Update on this: Phenyx Pro told me that this is normal behavior. There’s static when just one person is playing or singing (bass guitar is the worst), but it gets mostly better when everyone is playing. They explained its because there is noise inherent to the system over a wide range of audio frequencies. When everything is playing, more of the noise gets covered up vs just a bass guitar playing. I still hear static some when our male vocalist is singing (especially with S’s and plosives). You didn’t notice this at all on yours? I did find some other reviews on Amazon that said they had they same issue. Some returned it. Perhaps Phenyx has allowed some tolerance in the performance in this regard?

“Super noisy” can come from a lot of things. You could have a defective unit, if so it’s under warranty. Or you could have it configured poorly or something else is sending noise. Maybe "snow" is a better term? A subtle white noise that is consistent regardless of volume, input, or channel. The quality of the sound from the body pack seems pretty good, but the underlying noise is very distracting, even with a lot of instruments or tracks playing through the iem. I haven't brought it to a gig so maybe it would be less noticeable there, but it's pretty distracting. I'm going to assume this is the price of "budget" but on the off chance it is a manufacturing defect or setting, I figured I'd ask.

0:25 According to KZbin even if you didn’t pay, if the manufacturer sent it for free you still need to called it a sponsored video. Some crap about “anything of value.”

I haven’t seen that, but I’ll look into it. I don’t believe that’s correct, but if it is I’ll update. Regardless, I always say in my videos if I get sent a product

@@ScottUhlMusic saying you received it for free to review is probably enough, however, to protect yourself from the FTC you really should also choose to disclose in the KZbin settings that the video contains sponsored products when you are first publishing the video. This will show the banner near the beginning of the video and protect you. It seems like you are decent guy with an honest review here. My point is that it’s probably better to protect yourself by giving full and complete disclosure. It doesn’t harm your credibility one bit. And also reviewing a product from a manufacture that you got for free is a sponsorship, because it’s of value to you. You get to make free content because you have an established relationship with a company. Doesn’t matter if you are doing an unbiased review or reading a script they gave you. There are more FTC rules too though. You can’t lie. You can’t say a product is good if you think it’s bad. You can’t review a product you have never tried. Here’s a KZbin video with a little more info: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6HHaqR3j5Vrhrcsi=ifpzwlEzGjHib-Q2

Can you do me a favor, can you look it up on Amazon in your country? Some companies have different frequency options based on the country you are in. I’m just curious if they did that with this one…

Hey Scott. Could I do the pan/two separate mixes with one transmitter thing you mentioned in your other Iem vid with this system since it’s stereo?

Yup that’s correct. You can send 1 stereo signal to 1 receiver or 2 mono signals to 2 different receivers with this one. I did a video with the steps on how to do that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2ino6Cgo5upqbM

It is clear to me that the cheap,systems perform fine as long as there are no more systems operated together. But when 4 or more systems are used at the same time on other channels, then these systems are not that good at all

Just wondering if anyone who has purchased the PTM10 has any issues with signal level disparity between Chanel 1 and 2 outputs when they are the same level on the inputs? My AF on the Right is always lower and requires a 5db louder signal. Also there is a lot of hiss on the outputs. I'm trying to return it to Phenyx Pro but they are yet to awknowledge that is defective.
@ScottUhlMusic
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын
PP is very reliable with responding to defective units and have a one year warranty on their products. So if it is defective, they will help you. “Hiss” can truly be from anywhere with IEMs. I do not get hiss in mine, and I have not noticed the 5db difference problem when using these. I’m honestly not sure why that would be happening to you. Best of luck 👍

Yeah it looks like it for right now it’s gone up to $350 but with the 3 receivers. As of right now, it looks like you can only buy it on Amazon with the 3 receivers... which is odd. But that usually happens when they are temporarily out of stock. Wait a week or two and see if it comes back in stock.
