Great demo. I started making jewelry about 30 years ago or so, and we did not have crimp beads. We used the clamshell bead tips, tied a couple of knots in our beading thread and fed them into the bead tips and close the bead tips up. To this day I still use this technique, and even have some of my first pieces that I made this way that I still wear.

Thank you so much. I have done it this way in the past but I find crimp beads so much easier. I'm always worried that my knots will come undone, especially when I use Tiger Tail. Do whatever makes you happy and works.

I always enjoy your videos. I haven't used crimp beads much because I'll jump through hoops of fire to avoid them. After watching this video, I think I'll be more open to using them on occasion. I don't have any of the clamshells, but it didn't even occur to me that I could just hide in inside a bead. I like using the toggle clasps on bracelets too. Thanks for all the hot tips in this video. I enjoy all of your videos.

Hi Carol. I just found your channel and subscribed. I love your comment about teaching people the "right" way to crimp. My philosophy is there is a theoretical way and a practical way. Theoretically, the "right" way to crimp is to crush twice. Practically, a single crush can secure the wire. If the end result is the same, then practically is as good as theoretically. Striving for perfection is a sure-fire way to take the joy out of a beginner's creative process. I think an experienced crafter will develop their own practical methods that work for them. And, hahahahah, on the crimp covers. I struggle with these lil forkers as well. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
@The_Stylish_Maker

Thank you so much, Fern. I really appreciate your comments about the "right way". I think, as a beginner, you just have to do whatever works. Once you're more experienced you can experiment with the different methods. Thank you for the subscription. Welcome to the community.

You saved the best technique for last. I thought for a minute there you were not going to mention your magical pliers. I love this tool so much & use it all the time. I've used crimp covers before & the clam cover thingie but not since I got a pair of magical crimping pliers. Once the bead is formed it doesn't cut into the tiger tail either which I thought it might but no its as strong as anything. Thank you for all your tips, tricks & tutorials they're just the best.

This is great! I wish I had known these types years ago! I used crimp tubes but I've always hated the way they look. I esp like the bread tips because I hate threading the wire back through the beads, so I will definitely be getting some. I bought some crimp covers a few years ago, but I forgot what they were for. 🙄 the timing is perfect to, because I am making a few bracelets for gifts. Thank you for sharing!

Oh that's fantastic that you finally have access to your "stuff". We moved to a much smaller house 6 years ago and I still have "stuff" in storage which I go through every so often. I appreciate your kind words about the tutorial. Thank you.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I am new to making necklaces and these crimp beads, crimp tubes and clam shell covers have been confusing for me. This clarifies the procedure a little better and has given me a couple of options that I didn't even know I had. 👍😊
