Afghanistan crisis: Desperate locals cling to side of US Air Force plane taking off from Kabul

Thousands of Afghans rushed onto the tarmac of Kabul’s international airport Monday, so desperate to escape the Taliban capture of their country that they clung onto an American military jet as it took off. At least seven people died from the chaos on the tarmac, U.S. officials said.
The crowds of people rushing the airport came as the Taliban enforced their rule over the wider capital after a lightning advance across the country that took just over a week to dethrone the country’s Western-backed government.
The U.S. military and other Western forces continued to organize evacuations.
The United Nations Security Council held a meeting on Monday to discuss the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on countries to take Afghan refugees.
“We cannot and must not abandon the Afghan people,” Guterres said.

The plane in this video is an inflatable decoy plane. No one is fearful of it because it's apparently being pulled along by some in the crowd. You'll notice the engines have no turbines inside them. Our mission was accomplished in 2009-2010 when Obama led forces killed Bin Laden. Being frank, we should’ve exited within 1-2 years of killing Bin Laden and defeating Al-Qeada. @@ceezb5629 I agree with the premise but I despise the execution of the withdrawal. This should be a two-year process. Maintaining military presence is extremely important. You may say that we defeated Nazis in Europe over 75 years ago - why aren’t you screaming and demanding a withdrawal of US Troops from Europe? Because Germany loves marching in all directions once every so often and it’s usually causing a lot problems. There’s also Russia. Why are we still in South Korea decades after the war ended? Because there is still North Korea with their multi-million people army and their nuclear weapons. Afghanistan - despite what most people think - is a very crucial piece of land geopolitically.

I find it hard to believe. It seems more logical to instinctively not even attempt to climb onto a plane whilst taking off, the same way you would instinctively avoid putting your hand into a fire.
